Britains Got Talent Betting Starting To Hot Up As Auditions Rumble On

April 27, 2012

The current series of Britain’s Got Talent continues to attract a big audience on a Saturday night but it is in the betting market that the actions is really starting to hot with a number of acts being backed at this stage. The audition stage has already been going on for some time now but with the live semi-finals on the horizon punters are really beginning to get stuck into their favourite acts while the value remains.

The favourites in the betting remain Jonathan and Charlotte who wowed the judges in week one with their opera voices and despite some strong competition they are the 11/4 market leaders with William Hill. There is no doubt they are the worthy favourites at this stage but that price does seem a little skinny considering we have yet to see the pair sing a note since while there is no guarantee that they will perform well when the pressure is on during the latter stages of the competition.

Dog acts are always popular with Simon Cowell and this year we have a top act in the form of Ashley and Pudsey who had a brilliant audition a couple of weeks ago and look to be real contenders. Britain is a country of dog lovers and if Pudsey can perform in the live shows then their current price of 10/1 with William Hill could prove to be excellent value in a few weeks time. The standard is very high this year which is great news for BGT punters with plenty of value to be found at this stage, there is no doubt that Charlotte and Jonathan are the ones to beat but we have seen plenty of favourites fall by the wayside in recent years meaning we are in for a fascinating few weeks in front of the TV.

Chelsea v QPR Odds – John Terry Money Back Special

April 26, 2012

Chelsea v QPRSunday, April 29th (Sky Sports 1, 13.30)

Chelsea’s focus now turns back to the Premier League following their heroic defeat of Barcelona in their Champions League semi-final. They come up against West London rivals QPR at Stamford Bridge in a match they simply must win to keep their hopes of a top four finish alive. Meanwhile QPR, who have a decent record against the top teams, are desperate for the three points to boost their chances of survival. Chelsea as the hot 2/5 favourites for the win, with QPR priced at 7/1 and a draw at 7/2. If John Terry is booked or sent off in this match, Paddy Power will refund all losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score & Scorecast singles on the match.

With four league games remaining Chelsea find themselves in 6th, four points adrift of fourth-placed Newcastle and one point behind London rivals Tottenham. They will no doubt be distracted by their upcoming FA Cup and Champions League Finals but they know that if they were to lose to Bayern Munich in the latter competition then a top four place is a necessity to ensure Champions League football next season.

QPR are currently engulfed in a relegation battle, sitting two places and just one point above the bottom three. Mark Hughes’ men have managed to pick up four wins from their last seven matches, including victories over Liverpool, Arsenal and most recently Spurs. They beat Chelsea 1-0 at Loftus Road back in October but will do well to come away from Stamford Bridge with anything, especially considering they haven’t won away since mid-November.

Chelsea are available at 6/1 to win 2-0, while QPR have been handed long odds of 20/1 to come away with a 1-0 win. Alternatively a 1-1 draw is priced at 7/1. Didier Drogba tops the first goalscorer market with odds of 13/5, while a rejuvenated Fernando Torres is worth a bet at 7/2. Frank Lampard can be backed at 4/1, with Juan Mata at 5/1. QPR’s Djibril Cisse has odds of 13/2 to open the scoring, with Bobby Zamora and Heioar Helguson both available at 9/1.

Rory Mcilroy The Slight Favourite To End 2012 On Top Of The World

April 25, 2012

Never have the Gold World Rankings been in the news more than over the past couple of years and that looks set to continue right the way through an exciting 2012. Ever since the long reign of Tiger Woods came to an end we have had several players on top of the world and BetVictor have opened up a fascinating market about which player will end this year as the world number one.

Rory McIlroy is the man who currently holds the top spot in the rankings and he has proven himself to be a brilliant talent over the past 18 months or so. The man from Northern Ireland has picked up his first Major at the US Open and few would bet against him adding to that tally in the very near future as he looks to build a successful career. At the moment Rory McIlroy can be backed at 5/4 with BetVictor to end the year as the World number one and that could prove to be some nice value in time.

Outside of Mcilroy we have seen the likes of Luke Donald, Martin Kaymer and Lee Westwood all top the rankings in recent times and each of them will be hoping to climb back to the top of the world. Punters should be evry careful though if they ignore Tiger Woods who is clearly eager to get his number one spot back and after climbing his way back into the top ten he looks a real threat. Woods is starting to get that winning feeling back and with that in mind his price 9/2 with BetVictor could prove to be a massive price in a few months time.

To End 2012 As Golf World Number One Betting with BetVictor

  • 5/4 – Rory McIlroy
  • 9/2 – Luke Donald
  • 9/2 – Tiger Woods
  • 9/2 – Lee Westwood
  • 33/1 – Martin Kaymer
  • 33/1 – Bubba Watson
  • 33/1 – Phil Mickelson

Real Madrid Hot Favourites Against Bayern Munich

April 25, 2012

Real Madrid v Bayern MunichWednesday, April 25th (ITV 1, 19:45)

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich meet at the Bernabeu tonight in what promises to be an electric second-leg. Bayern head into the match with a 2-1 lead from the first-leg courtesy of a last-gasp Mario Gomez winner, which could end up being a crucial goal. However, Real’s confidence will be sky high after an impressive 2-1 win at the Nou Camp on Saturday, which has effectively won them the La Liga title. Real are the hot 8/15 favourites to win in 90 minutes on the night, with Bayern priced at 11/2 and a draw at 3/1. Real are also the odds-on 4/6 favourites to progress through to the Final against Chelsea, while Bayern are available at 11/10.

Real have scored a staggering 22 goals in five Champions League games at the Bernabeu this season. While they are likely to face a sterner defensive unit in Bayern – who have conceded just five goals in their last 12 games – they will look to overwhelm their German opponents with a constant flurry of attacks as they bid to overturn the 2-1 deficit. However, the Spanish giants will need to be wary of Bayern on the break, as they have players like Mario Gomez, Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery who can really hurt them if given the chance.

Real have been handed odds of 9/1 to come out 3-1 winners in 90 minutes, while a 2-0 win is available at 7/1. They can also be found at 6/1 to win 2-1 and take the game into extra-time. Meanwhile Bayern can be backed at 17/1 to sneak a 1-0 win, with a 1-1 enough to see them through at 17/2.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the favourite to open the scoring with odds of 3/1. If he scores the first goal in this game, Paddy Power will refund all losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score & Scorecast singles on the match. Karim Benzema is priced at 5/1 and Gonzalo Higuaín at 11/2, while Angel Di Maria can be backed at 8/1. Bayern’s Mario Gomez is always worth a bet and he can be found at a reasonable 15/2 to score the first goal of the game. Arjen Robben is available at 9/1, with Ivica Olić at 10/1 and Franck Ribery at 11/1.

Barcelona v Chelsea Odds – Lionel Messi First Goalscorer Special

April 23, 2012

Barcelona v ChesleaTuesday, April 24th (Sky Sports 2, 7.45pm)

Chelsea travel to Barcelona on Tuesday for their crunch last four second-leg Champions League clash. A dogged defensive display at Stamford Bridge means Chelsea head into the second-leg with a 1-0 lead, but they know they will face relentless pressure from Barcelona as the Catalans side seek to overturn the deficit and progress through to the Final. Barcelona are the hot 2/7 favourites to win on Tuesday, while Chelsea have been handed long odds of 9/1, with a draw available at 9/2. Barcelona also have short odds of 4/9 to progress through to the Final, while Chelsea can be backed at 13/8.

Back-to-back defeats may have rocked Barcelona’s confidence ahead of Tuesday’s match and Chelsea will therefore be looking to take advantage and pile more misery on their opponents. After losing at home to Real Madrid on Saturday Barcelona’s title hopes are all but over, leaving the Champions League trophy as their only chance of winning silverware this season.

Pep Guardiola’s men are available at 6/1 to win 1-0 in 90 minutes and take the game into extra-time, while a 3-1 scoreline is priced at 8/1. Barcelona may end up winning 2-1 (7/1) but the result would send Chelsea through to the final on the away goals rule. The Blues have long odds of 25/1 to repeat last year’s performance and come away with a 1-0 win, while a 1-1 draw is at  11/1.

Barcelona once again dominates the first goalscorer market, with Lionel Messi the favourite with odds of 11/5. If the Argentinean scores the first goal in this game, Paddy Power will refund all losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score & Scorecast singles on the match. Alexis Sanchez is next in the running at 5/1, with Cesc Fabregas priced at 11/2. Chelsea’s Didier Drogba is available at 11/1 to open the scoring again, while Fernando Torres can be found at 12/1.

Floyd Mayweather v Miguel Cotto World Title Fight Betting

April 23, 2012

Las Vegas is getting ready to host one of the biggest nights of boxing this year with Floyd Mayweather set to return to the ring against the top class Miguel Cotto on May 5th. Mayweather had been hoping to face Manny Pacquaio but after that fight fell through we have been left with another mouthwatering contest with Cotto a more than able opponent. The betting for the big fight will be one of the most exciting and popular markets of the year and at the moment the bookmakers are expecting a comfortable win for Mayweather.

Floyd Mayweather remains unbeaten and Ladbrokes expect that run to continue against Cotto with the firm making the American a 1/6 favourite to win the fight by any means. Mayweather has proven to be one of the best fighters in recent history over the past decade with his slick defensive skills second to none which should stand him in good stead against the tough Puerto Rican. The clever money will be on Pretty Boy Floyd to make his record 43-0 and punters wanting to back Mayweather to win on points can get a price of 10/11 with Ladbrokes which could prove to be the value here.

It would be foolish to write off a fighter like Miguel Cotto who himself is a three-weight World Champion and should be more comfortable up at 154lbs against Mayweather. Punters wanting to back the upset can get a price of 4/1 with Ladbrokes about Cotto winning the fight by any method on the 5th May. Cotto has just two defeats on his record including one to Manny Pacquaio but the smart money says that Mayweather will have too much speed and slick defence for him when they meet at the famous MGM Grand Hotel on the Vegas Strip.

Floyd Mayweather v Miguel Cotto World Title Fight Betting with Ladbrokes

  • 1/6 – Mayweather to win the fight by any method
  • 4/1 – Cotto to win the fight by any method
  • 33/1 – Draw
  • 10/11 – Mayweather to win by decision
  • 6/4 – Mayweather to win by KO or DQ
  • 13/1 – Cotto by KO or DQ
  • 11/1 – Cotto to win by decision

Bahrain Grand Prix Special With Betfred

April 20, 2012

Bahrain Grand PrixSunday 22nd April (Sky Sports F1, 1pm)

On Sunday the Bahrain Grand Prix makes a return to the schedule after the 2011 race was cancelled due to anti-government protests. Unfortunately for the organisers this year’s race has so far not gone without controversy as Force India’s participation has been thrown into doubt following a petrol bomb attack by protesters. The incident has raised further concerns about safety and it is not yet known whether the team will take part on Sunday.

The Bahrain International Circuit, which is 5.412km, is the fourth race of an already action-packed season and bookmakers Betfred have installed McLaren teammates Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button as the joint 9/4 favourites. After three consecutive third place finishes Hamilton has emerged as the leader in the Drivers Championship standings with 45 points. The 27-year-old, who was fastest in the first practice session, will be gunning for his first win of the season in order to consolidate his position at the top. Button, who won in Bahrain back in 2009, is just behind Hamilton with 43 points following an impressive open season win in Australia and a second place finish in China last week.

Sebastian Vettel is yet to win in 2012 but the 2010 and 2011 Drivers Champion will certainly be a threat and can be backed at 7/1 to win in Bahrain for the first time in his career. Nico Rosberg won a compelling Grand Prix in Shanghai last week and the Mercedes driver is priced at 8/1 to repeat the feat and win back-to-back races. Elsewhere Mark Webber is available at 10/1, while Rosberg’s teammate Michael Schumacher has been handed odds of 12. The last time the race was held in Bahrain Ferrari achieved a fine 1-2 finish, with Fernando Alonso taking first and Felipe Massa coming home in second place. Ferrari are unlikely to compete for a podium position this time around but it is worth noting that Alonso is a three-time winner in Bahrain, which makes him an attractive outside bet at 20/1.

If your selection does not complete the first 3 laps of the Bahrain Grand Prix, Betfred will refund all Outright and Fastest Lap Singles up to £250.

Sweden The Clear Favourites In Current Eurovision 2012 Betting

April 20, 2012

The 2012 Eurovision Song Contest is now fast approaching and with the betting starting to hot up punters are busy trying to find the winner from a tight betting market. At the moment all the talk across Europe is surrounding Sweden who are the warm favourites to take the win in Azerbaijan at the end of May. The entry by artist Loreen has already topped the charts in Sweden and at the moment it can be backed at a price of 9/4 with Paddy Power to win Eurovision for 2012.

The Swedes has gone with a modern uptempo dance pop song for their entry this year which is the complete opposite to the British who have decided to let 75-year-old Engelbert Humperdinck represent them. The veteran crooner will sing Love Will Set You Free in Baku and although there was some initial negativity there has been money for him with the UK now available at a price of 10/1 with Paddy Power.

The other big names in the Eurovision this year are without doubt Jedward who will be representing Ireland for the second successive time and it will be fascinating to see how they fair this time around. The annoying twins did a reasonable job last year and although it would be a surprise to see them win in 2012 the bookmakers believe they have an outside chance, Ireland are currently available at 10/1 with Paddy Power to win in Baku.

El Clasico Betting Specials With Paddy Power

April 19, 2012

Barcelona v Real MadridSaturday, April 21st (Sky Sports 1, 7pm)

Barcelona and Real Madrid lock horns for the sixth and most important El Clasico match of the season this Saturday in a pivotal top of the table clash. League leaders Real are currently five points clear with five games remaining and a rare win at the Nou Camp will effectively win them the title. Meanwhile victory for Barcelona will draw them to within just one point of their fierce rivals and make for a compelling race for the tite. Barcelona have been installed as the odds-on 4/6 favourites, while Real can be backed at 4/1, with a draw available at 14/5. If Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo score the last goal, Paddy Power will refund all losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score & Scorecast singles on the match

Both teams will need to put their respective Champions League defeats behind them and focus on winning a valuable three points on Saturday. Real are undefeated in 18 league matches, a run that goes back to the 10th December, when Barcelona beat them 3-1 at the Bernabeu. Similarly Barca have been in excellent form, recording 11 straight league wins since their shock defeat to Osasuna back in February.

Pep Guardiola’s men have a near impeccable record at the Nou Camp this season, winning 46 points from a possible 48 so far in the league. They also hold the mental edge over Real in terms of previous meetings, having only lost once in the last 14 encounters. To make matters worse for Real they have only won one of their last 10 visits to the Nou Camp and are yet to taste victory there under manager Jose Mourinho.

All five of the meetings this season have contained at least three goals so we can expect a few more on Saturday. With home advantage Barcelona are unsurprisingly the hot favourites for the win, with a 2-1 victory priced at 13/2. A 2-0 scoreline is available at 15/2, while a 3-1 result could be the way to go at 11/1. Meanwhile, Real can be backed at14/1 to win 2-1 and also 14/1 to come away with a 1-0 win. However, a draw would be a good result for the visitors, with a 2-2 draw available at 12/1.

The match once again brings together the two best players in the world: Lionel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo. Messi has been installed as the 3/1 favourite in the first goalscorer market, while Ronaldo has been handed odds of 11/2. Elsewhere Barca’s Alexis Sanchez is also priced at 11/2, with Cesc Fàbregas and Cristian Tello at 6/1 and Pedro at 13/2. Meanwhile Real’s Gonzalo Higuaín and Karim Benzema are both at 7/1 to open the scoring.

Chelsea v Barcelona Odds – Lionel Messi Money-Back Special

April 18, 2012

Chelsea v BarcelonaWednesday, April 18th (ITV 1, 7.45pm)

Champions League rivals Chelsea and Barcelona lock horns at Stamford Bridge tonight in what promises to be an entertaining semi-final first-leg. While Barcelona are aiming to become the first team to win back-to-back Champions League trophies, Chelsea are gunning to avenge the last-gasp Andrés Iniesta equaliser that led to their heartbreaking exit at this stage three years ago. Despite having home advantage Chelsea go into the match as the 7/2 outsiders, with Barcelona the odds-on 3/4 favourites for the win, while a draw is available at 14/5.

Since the departure of Andre Villas-Boas Chelsea have been in great form, losing once in just 12 matches. Under interim boss Robert Di Matteo they have been very impressive, exemplified by their fine 5-1 win against Tottenham in the FA Cup semi-final last Sunday. However, whether they will be able to cope with Lionel Messi and co is debatable. Pep Guardiola’s men have lost just once in their last 34 matches in all competitions and have won seven of their last eight away games on the road. They are undefeated in the Champions League this season and in the previous round they knocked-out Italian giants AC Milan.

Since their first meeting in 2000, the teams have met nine further times in the competition. Their head-to-head record could not be closer, with each side winning three matches, with the other four draws. However, this season the advantage is most definitely with Barcelona who are the hot favourites to go on to win the cup. Chelsea can be backed at 13/1 to record a 2-1 win, while Barcelona are available at 7/1 to win 2-1 or 12/1 to come away from Stamford Bridge with a 3-1 advantage.

It comes as no surprise to see the majestic Lionel Messi top the first goalscorer market with odds of 13/5 but if he scores the last goal, Paddy Power will refund all losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscroer, Correct Score & Scorecast singles on the match. The 24-year-old has scored an incredible 63 goals so far this season and is currently the top scorer in the competition with 14 goals. Next in the running is Alexis Sanchez at 6/1 and Cesc Fàbregas at 15/2. Pedro has been handed odds of 8/1 to score the opening goal, while Andrés Iniesta is available at 10/1. Chelsea’s in-form striker Didier Drogba is definitely worth a bet at 8/1, with Fernando Torres at 9/1 and Frank Lampard at 11/1.
