Newcastle v Everton – Saturday, 12.45pm Sky Sports 2
QPR v Man City – Saturday, 5.30pm ESPN
Fulham v Spurs – Sunday, 4pm Sky Sports 1

In-form Newcastle take on inconsistent Everton at St James Park in Saturday’s lunch time kick-off match. The Magpies have had a cracking start to the season, finding themselves in third place in the league with 22 points from their opening ten matches. Meanwhile, Everton are languishing down in 16th with just ten points from nine games. Paddy Power are offering a tempting bet on Newcastle striker Demba Ba which is if he scores the last goal they will refund all losing first/last goalscorer, correct score & scorecast singles on the match. Ba scored a hat-trick against Stoke on Monday and is priced at 5/1 to be the Last Goalscorer in the match. Alan Pardew’s men have been handed odds of 7/4 to win their seventh league game of the season while Everton are priced at 23/10 to come away with the spoils. A draw may be the way to go at 9/4.

QPR host the league leaders Man City in Saturday’s tea-time match at Loftus Road. City have scored for fun this season and if there are more than four goals scored, Paddy Power will refund all losing first/last goalscorer, correct score & scorecast singles on the match. There have been four or more goals in eight of the ten league games Man City have played so far this term with most of them scored by Roberto Mancini’s maestros. City are the odds-on 1/3 favourites to win their eighth game in a row in all competitions, while QPR are available at long odds of 17/2, with a draw priced at 4/1.

Tottenham have been in impressive form recently, picking up 19 points from their last seven league games, and Harry Redknapp’s men look like a good bet to continue that impressive run away to Fulham on Sunday. Their star player of recent weeks has been Rafael Van der Vaart who has scored in six of the last five league matches. If the Dutchman scores the last goal in Sunday’s game then Paddy Power will refund all losing first/last goalscorer, correct score & scorecast singles on the match. Spurs are the 5/4 favourites to come away with the three points, while Fulham are priced at 11/5 to win their second game on the spin, with a share of the points available at 23/10.

The three newly crowned Premier League clubs; Swansea City, Norwich City and QPR have been installed as the bookies favourites to make a swift return to the Championship. All three teams are widely expected to go straight back where they came from but they will be eager to prove their critics wrong as they prepare for what promises to be another intriguing season. They won’t need any reminding that the omens don’t look too good – only once in the Premier League’s history have all three promoted clubs managed to avoid relegation, which occurred back in 2002 when Fulham, Bolton and Blackburn all survived.

With odds of just 8/15 to get relegated Swansea are the favourites for the drop with Paddy Power. Brendan Rodgers worked wonders last season when he made Swansea the first ever team from Wales to get promoted to the Premier League after they beat Reading 4-2 in the play-off final. But this season he really will have his work cut out with a limited transfer budget, relatively small squad and lack of experience. Swansea’s attack-minded, positive football suits the league well but if they are to have any hope of surviving then they will need to make the Liberty Stadium a hostile environment for away teams.

Norwich City have remarkably won back-to-back promotions with Paul Lambert at the helm. Although their chances of making an impact in the Premier League are slim with the bookmakers after being handed very short odds of 8/13 to go down. Similarly QPR, who were promoted as Champions, haven’t been given much of a chance at 13/8. QPR are returning to the big time for the first time in 15 years and with the passionate Yorkshireman Neil Warnock in charge they are guaranteed an entertaining season.

Last season’s relegation dogfight was one of the most exciting and tense ever with a total of five teams still fighting for their lives on the final day of the season. Wigan Athletic, Wolves and Blackburn Rovers were the lucky three who escaped by the skin of their teeth but as a result their odds don’t make particularly good reading for this season. Wigan are available at 15/8 to go down while Wolves are priced at 5/2 and Blackburn 11/4.

Blackburn boss Steve Kean has yet to convince and fully win over the club’s fans since he was appointment permanent manager, which is reflected in his status as the current favourite in the Next Premier League Manager to be Sacked Betting. Blackburn desperately need a spark, in the form of a big summer signing, but this hasn’t been the case as of yet. Their squad needs strengthening if they are to stay up as they look weak past the first team line-up.

West Brom and Newcastle, who both survived last season despite just coming up, have been priced at 9/2 each to go down. West Brom will be eager to build on their creditable 12th place finish after ending the season strongly under manager Roy Hodgson where as Newcastle’s prospects aren’t looking too great at the moment after losing captain Kevin Nolan, Joey Barton, with Jose Enrique’s departure imminent.

Elsewhere Bolton, Fulham and Stoke have been handed odds of 11/2, 9/1 and 10/1 respectively.

Newcastle United are inexcusably letting one of their best players, Joey Barton, leave for free this summer, a decision that will surely infuriate the majority of their supporters, whose patience was severely tested last month after the departure of their captain and most inspirational player Kevin Nolan. Newcastle owner Mike Ashley has reportedly grown tired of Barton’s unflattering tweets about the club and its hierarchy and as a result has lost patience with the player and given him the boot. In the past six months Ashley has let his three best players leave the club, the other being Andy Carroll for £35m in the January transfer window, whilst failing to bring in any players that are likely to capture the imagination of the club’s passionate supporters.

Barton is certainly not the most popular of players, but few can deny his talent, ability and determination. The 28-year-old put in a number of high quality performances for the Magpies last season, which helped the club achieve a respectable 12th place finish in their first season back in the Premier League. Newcastle’s surprise decision to release the midfielder opens up an intriguing betting market as a number of big club’s begin to express their interest in snapping up the player on a free transfer.

Barton is not short of self-confidence and often boasts about how he is one of the most gifted midfielders in England, so it is almost certain that he will opt for a club in England’s top flight. The bookmakers Betfred have placed Tottenham as the 5/2 favourites to secure the services of Barton. If anyone can get the best of the contentious player then it’s surely Harry Redknapp, who is well known for his player-management and motivational skills. Elsewhere, Everton are in the running with odds of 100/30, as are Arsenal at 9/2 and Stoke City at 11/2. Defending Premier League champions Man Utd are also up there at 8/1, however, at present they are more concerned with prizing Wesley Sneijder away from Inter Milan.

Betfred also have Barton at just 6/1 to follow in Nolan’s footsteps and join Championship club West Ham and long odds of 50/1 to return to his former club Man City, with the same odds to join Premier League giants Chelsea.

Whoever Barton decides to join is definitely in for an entertaining ride. If the player can continue to control his aggression and fiery temper, as he did last season, then football supporters can start to enjoy the more positive aspects of his game that can make him a welcome addition to many top flight clubs.

Joey Barton’s Next Club Odds

Tonight’s Coca Cola Championship fixture sees two of the top three teams facing each other in what will be an important result for Billy Davies side. Forest travel to St James Park for the 19:45 kick off that can be watched live on Sky Sports. Forest managed to beat Newcastle 1-0 back in October in and they will be looking to do the double in this reverse fixture.

Click here to place your Championship bet with Victor Chandler

Chris Hughton’s Newcastle side are currently riding the top of the Champions on 80 points, closely followed by West Brom who could have gone top if they had beating Reading at the weekend. Forest are 9 points off the automatic promotion slot so beating Newcastle will keep them still in contention for an automatic spot.

If promotion hopefuls Nottingham Forest manage to beat current league leaders Newcastle then Victor Chandler will refund all of the losing bets placed on the match for you to use as a free bet.

Forest have shown an inconsistent form of late, winning at the City ground but losing away from home, they have lost their last 6 away games against teams that on paper they should easily have beat, the last away win was in January ironically against West Brom beating them 3-1, but defeats against Coventry, Derby, Barnsley and Preston have cost them dearly.

Match odds
Forest’s poor away form is reflected in their odds for winning tonight’s match.
8/11 – Newcastle win
7/2 – Forest win
13/5 – Draw

Its a nail biting time for the teams at the bottom of the Premiership, West Bromwich are definitely going to be visiting the Coca Cola Championship next season and who will be joining them will be decided early on Sunday evening. There are four teams at the bottom of the Premiership who could be relegated, Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Hull and Sunderland, either way 2 more teams from the North/North East of the UK are going to be playing lower league football next season.

Paddy Powers Premiership Survival Guide (who will stay up)

Sunderland – 1/12

Hull City – 4/9

Newcastle – 5/4

Middlesbrough 12/1

Middlesbrough are the second placed team at the bottom of the Premiership and will need a minor miracle to survive the drop, they would need to win their game away at West Ham by 4 clear goals (Stan James are offering odds of 80/1 for Middlesbrough to win 4-0 away) and hope that Newcastle and Hull lose their matches. That way they could survive on goal difference alone, Paddy Power are giving odds of 12/1 for Middlesbrough to avoid relegation, you can watch the match live on Setanta Sports 1.

Click here to claim your place your relegation bet with Boylesports

Alan Shearer could see his Newcastle side relegated in his first season as manager; Boylesports are giving odds of 5/4 for Newcastle to avoid the drop. Shearer’s team are currently just in the relegation zone after Hull managed to get a point at the weekend and leap frog them. Newcastle however have one of the easier matches out of the bottom teams with an away trip to Aston Villa where they are at 13/8 for an away win.

Hull may get lucky in their home game against Manchester United as it’s likely now that United have claimed the Premier League Title they may field their kids team as they have nothing to play for whereas Hull have everything! A home win for Hull has odds of 9/5 with Paddy Power and will guarantee their Premiership status and put Sunderland in the frame.

Sunderland have the best odds of Premiership survival at 1/12 with Boylesports as they are relatively safe at the moment being 5th from bottom and with 36 points so even a loss at home against Chelsea who are evens for an away win could see them safe.

In conclusion it looks as if Newcastle’s Premiership days are at a close this may work in Shearers benefit as it will give him a year to repair and consolidate his Newcastle side and gain promotion in a season’s time. A team of Newcastle’s stature could also help other teams in the Championship thanks to the loyal Geordie away support.

Everton welcome crisis-stricken Newcastle United to Goodison Park on Sudnay for Sky Sport’s live match. Newcastle have lost their last five matches and new interim manager, Joe Kinnear, will have his work cut out if the Magpies are to put an end to their current run of awful form agaisnt Everton. The players morale must surely be as low as the fans who have made their opinions known about the current state of the club following Kevin Keegan’s depature and its ongoing sale.

Everton must surely be backed to add to Newcastle’s misery at odds of 3/4, this is despite the Toffees having yet to win a home game this season. David Moyes will see this as the perfect opportunity to get back to winning ways infront of their own fans. An Everton 3-0 victory looks a good bet at 12/1 with Paddypower and Yakubu cannot be overlooked for the first goalscorer at odds of 9/2.

If Yakubu scores the last goal in this game, Paddypower will refund all losing first goalscorer, last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast bets on this game.

The daily racing cashback offer from Paddy Power is in the 2:40 race at Newcastle. If your horse finishes second behind Grimes Faith in this race, they will refund your losing stake.

The race in question is a competitive looking handicap, with several holding excellent chances, however, Grimes Faith does look the one to beat. The Kevin Ryan trained five year old has found form in his last few runs including a win in heavy ground two runs back. The ground at Newcastle is likely to be heavy and with this kind of form Grimes Faith is sure to be in the reckoning. Whozart, who also acts on bottomless ground could provide a decent alternative at bigger odds, but the favourite is certianly the one to be on.

Two Premiership clubs both suffering from something of an early season crisis meet at St James’ Park on Wednesday night in the Carling Cup third round clash between Newcastle and Spurs, which is live on Sky Sports. Newcastle and Spurs have had nothing short of disasterous starts to the Premier League season, with both clubs occupying the bottom two places in the league table with only one win in ten games between them. Spurs are probably the bigger surprise to be languishing at the foot of the table given several big summer signings they made, which result them being the bookmakers favourites to finish highest in the betting without the big four, with many pundits even tipping them to finish in a Champions League place. However, things haven’t gone quite according to plan for Juande Ramos and there is already talk of him leaving the club less than twelve months in to his tenure. In contrast, it is off the field activities that have impacted on Newcastle’s on field performances. Current owner, Mike Ashley, has alredy made it clear that he intends to sell the club and former boss, Kevin Keegan left following his concerns over the club’s transfer policy. As a result, the Newcastle fans have undertaken fierce demonstration against the current state of affairs.

Both clubs will be looking upon Wednesday’s Carling Cup tie as an opportunity to get back to winning ways with Spurs the favourites to do just that at odds of 6/4 to win the match with bookmaker Paddypower. Newcastle are 13/8 and the draw is 12/5. Spurs should be the more likely winners given their players should be good enough to capitalise on Newcastle’s current plight, which shows no sign of ending soon.

If you are planning to have a bet on this game, Paddypower are offering a ‘tongue in cheek’ special offer “can’t win, won’t win” where they will be refunding any first or last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast bets is either side leads at half time but fails to win in 90 minutes
