March 22, 2011
The winner of the 2010 Arnold Palmer Invitational, South Africa’s Ernie Els is way down the pecking order of golfers that bookmakers Ladbrokes are betting on to win the tournament this year. The event is one of only five tournaments given the invitational status by the PGA Tour. As it is a restricted field event it is only open to the first 70 players of the previous year’s money list. It has a prize fund of $6 million with the winner walking away with almost $1.1 million.

Will it be an all English Champions League Final this year?
March 18, 2011
The draw for the quarter finals of the Champions League was made earlier today by former Spurs and England player Gary Lineker at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.
The draw has pitted Chelsea against Manchester United meaning that at least one English team will make it through to the semi finals but Boylesports are putting odds of 4/11 that only one English side will make it through to the semi finals. Last time when Chelsea faced Manchester United in the 2008 final in Moscow the outcome was decided by a penalty shootout, Boylesports are giving odds of 20/1 for it to happen in this fixture too. Both John Terry and Nicolas Anelka missed from the spot in the penalty shootout and Terry is being given odds of 50/1 to miss from the spot this time round.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has seen his side drawn against the mighty Real Madrid under the guidance of Jose Mourinho. It has been a dream start for Tottenham Hotspur in their first ever UEFA European Champions League and they have already managed to beat the holders of last years tournament and Boylesports are currently pricing them at odds of 7/1 to get past Real Madrid and then Barcelona.

Manchester City given permission to rename ground
March 16, 2011
The owners of Manchester City have been given permission by Manchester City council to rename their Stadium and take advantage of the huge sponsorship deals that are out there for naming rights. Currently the stadium is known officially as the “City of Manchester Stadium” but is often referred to as Eastlands.
The club inherited the stadium in 2003 on a 250 year lease after it was used for the 2002 Commonwealth Games and moved from their old home at Maine Road. To date the club have been unable to take advantage of the potential gold mine of selling the naming rights. Other sides such as Arsenal have sold their right to Emirates in deal worth around £100 million over 10 years even lower league sides like Coventry City have bagged £10 million by having their stadium known as the Ricoh Arena.
The most likely candidate to take on the sponsorship of the stadium would be current City shirt sponsors Ethiad who according to the bookies are the favourites at odds of 6/4, but with American companies getting more involved with the sport perhaps the Budweiser Stadium could be on the cards.
