England Facing Tough Cricket World Cup Task Against Sri Lanka
March 25, 2011
England have been the stars of the Cricket World Cup so far with every match they have played going down to the wire, punters will remember they are the team that have already lost to minnows Ireland and Bangladesh as well as beating tournament favourites South Africa. With that in mind this weekends Quarter Final against Sri Lanka could well be another nail biter and Stan James are offering up some fascinating special markets for the match in Colombo with Andrew Strauss and his men facing an uphill task according to the latest betting.
Sri Lanka are as short as 1/2 to win with Stan James but there is some good value for punters in some more exciting betting markets. Jonathan Trott and Kumar Sangakarra have been in the runs all tournament and both are still in with a shout of claiming the top run scorer crown, and Stan James are offering a match bet between the two for the match on Saturday. Trott and Sangakarra can each be backed at 5/6 with Stan James and that is based on which of the two will score more runs in the match, Sangakarra has to be the more likely in this one with home crowd on his back.
Stan James also offer a fantastic Best Economy Market with punters looking to find the bowler who will concede the fewest runs, and there is no surprise to see the great Muttiah Muralitharan at the end of this one and he is priced at 7/2. The England alternative to Murali is of course Graeme Swann and he tends to keep things tight during his ten overs, making his price of 4/1 to be the most economical bowler an attractive one for punters.
England v Sri Lanka Match Odds with Stan James
Sri Lanka v England Best Economy Odds
- 7/2 – Muttiah Muralitharan
- 4/1 – Graeme Swann

- 9/2 – Nuwan Kulasekera

How to stay awake during the Ashes
November 25, 2010
We are all excited by the arrival of the Ashes, but the 10 hour time difference is a bit of a problem for the cricket mad sports fans that could not make it over to Australia to watch it in person. The action starts around midnight each day and it is expected to finish just in time for breakfast. For some people it’s easy to switch from sleeping days to nights but for the majority we will fall asleep!
So what do we do if we want the see the historic test series between England and Australia and watch Andrew Strauss’s side retain the Ashes?
To give you a fighting chance over the coming weeks here are some tips for keeping awake and not missing the matches. One of the best ways is to take power naps when play has stopped for tea and biscuits!
- Take a power nap of 15 minutes once at 2am and then again after 4am
- Before the nap have some coffee (not de-caff) or a drink like diet coke that has plenty of caffeine (the caffeine should kick in after your nap)
- Don’t sleep for longer than 15 minutes, once you enter deep sleep you will be groggy
- Don’t pig out, snack but not till you are stuffed
- Don’t drink alcohol or sugary drinks
- Keep the lights on
- Don’t lie down on the sofa
If you follow these tips you should be able to enjoy the Ashes and if you keep it up and sleep during the day you will soon adjust.
Whatever you do, if you stay awake all night don’t go to work afterwards if you can. if you must go to the office or factory please do not drive or operate heavy machinery and more importantly don’t’ get caught sleeping at your desk, use the meeting room instead!
These tips are brought to you by Freebetsblog.com, we take no responsibility should you decide to follow them. Just enjoy the cricket and why not make it more fun by placing a bet on Ashes with our wide awake friends at Ladbrokes who are up all night updating the latest Ashes odds.

November 23, 2010
The first test match of the Ashes in Australia begins at the Gabba in Brisbane in the early hours of Thursday morning. England will be attempting to defend the Ashes by winning in Australia for the first time in 24 years. The last time England played for the Ashes in Australia it was a 5-0 whitewash suffered by the England team. Can Andrew Strauss’s side put that defeat behind them and keep hold of the urn or will Ricky Ponting’s team manage to regain it ?

Free bet offer available on England and Irelands international games this weekend
November 5, 2010
This weekend sees two important Rugby Union games for the home nations sides, England will be playing the New Zealand All Blacks at Twickenham as part of the Investec Internationals and over in Declan Kidney’s Ireland team will be taking on world champions South Africa.
England will certainly not be relishing the game against the All Blacks who are favoured to win this opening fixture of the Investec International Challenge. They will have to keep down Sonny Bill Williams who will be making his debut for the All Blacks but is believed to be more of a threat than Jonah Lomu was. Williams comes into the squad as one of the four changes to the team that built Australia last weekend.
Ireland welcome back captain Brian O’Driscoll who is back to full fitness a month after he tore a hamstring whilst playing for Leinster in a match against Racing Metro and are currently the favourite to win the fixture following the build up to this tour, the Springboks have had 13 players removed from their squad due to injury and have finished bottom in the Tri Nations table, however they do still have the second row that features the pairing of Victor Matfield and Bakkies Botha.
England v New Zealand match odds
Match starts on Saturday at 2.30pm from Twickenham and is being shown on Sky Sports 1.
Ireland v South Africa match odds
The game kicks off on Saturday at 5.30pm from the Aviva Stadium and can be seen on BBC2.
Cash back offers
There is a great cash back offer available on these Autumn internations from the bookmaker Paddy Power. If either England’s full back Mark Cueto or Ireland’s inside centre Gordon D’Arcy score a try in either of the above matches then Paddypower will refund into your account any losing bets you have made on try scorer and the winning margin bets on the respective game for you to use a free bet.

The World Cup is over time to concentrate on Euro 2012
July 12, 2010
Well the World Cup in South Africa is now officially over and the team that were tipped to win it from the start walked away with the trophy in one of the most bitter fought if not prettiest game of football in the 2010 World Cup. The tournament threw up quite a few surprises and early than expected exits some of the worlds “larger” teams, however we did not get to see the fairytale ending that would have seen Ghana in the final instead it was an all European fixture. Which brings us to the next major football event the 2012 European Championships which will be hosted by Poland and Ukraine between 8 June and 1 July 2012.
Euro 2012 Outright Winner
There is little surprise that new World Cup winners Spain are the favourites according to Ladbrokes to win Euro 2012 at odds of 4/1, England’s poor World Cup performance sees them at odds of 8/1, host nations Ukraine and Poland are very much the outside chance to win.
- 4/1 – Spain
- 6/1 – Germany
- 7/1 – Holland
- 8/1 – England
- 9/1 – Italy
- 10/1 – Portugal
- 12/1 – France
- 14/1 – Russia
- 25/1 – Croatia
- 25/1 – Ukraine
- 28/1 – Poland

Results all around the tournament in South Africa have seen some shock results and surprises that have left several of teams that were heavily tipped to win the competition not even likely to get to the round of 16. Among the worst hit in tournaments casualties are France who thanks to the sending home of Nicolas Anelka and the refusal of the team to train over the weekend have seen their odds of winning the tournament go from 20/1 to 150/1 and are at odds of 10/1 to qualify from their group.

Soldier Steve is the initial favourite to win Big Brother 11
June 10, 2010
The final ever Big Brother (well unless something amazing happens this series and Channel 4 commissions another series or another channel buys up the rights) kicked off last night with the lovely Davina McCall who introduced the 13 contestants chosen at random initially entering the house out of a 81 potential contestants. They were followed shortly after by Mario who has had to go into the house dressed as a mole and be an actual mole by performing an impossible task for Big Brother without the other house mates knowing it was him, if he gets away with by June 14th this he will named as the 14th housemate.
His odds of getting away with this are slim with Paddy Power offering him just 6/4 of succeeding and 1/2 on his failure, whatever happens they will all be losers as they will miss out on the 2010 World Cup and could miss out on England lifting the trophy!.
The make up of the house mates look like typically Big Brother contestants with amongst the cattle we have the Jordan wannabee, the wacky dresser, and a posh person the only one that stands out is Steve an ex serviceman who could easily win the public hearts as he lost an eye and both legs whilst doing a tour of duty in Belfast.
Big Brother 2010 outright winner
As all the contestants tend to blend into one annoying contestant over the duration of the show we have only listed the ones that we consider will have any chance of winning, all odds are supplied by specialist bookmaker Paddy Power.
