Chelsea v Valencia Odds: Champions League Qualifying Special

December 6, 2011

Chelsea play Valencia tonight at Stamford Bridge in a pivotal Champions League group stage clash. The Blues must win or hold the La Liga side to a goalless draw in order to book their place in the knockout stages. Chelsea have been disappointing in the competition this year but a win tonight would be the perfect ingredient to kick-start their season and ease the pressure on under-fire manager Andre Villas-Boas. They have been installed as the odds-on 8/11 favourites to win the match and thus qualify for the last 16, while Valencia can be backed at 7/2. Meanwhile, a draw is available at 11/4. Furthermore, Ladbrokes will refund losing first goalscorer and correct score bets on the Chelsea vs Valencia match if the Blues fail to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages.

Chelsea have their fate in their own hands as they aim to reach the knockout stages for the ninth consecutive year. Both Chelsea and Valencia are glued on eight points each in Group E, one point behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen who have already qualified. Chelsea have been very inconsistent this season and are certainly not the dominant European outfit they were a few years ago. However, they have a good record against Spanish opposition at Stamford Bridge, having won seven out of 12 meetings, with just the one defeat.

Chelsea’s defence has been anything but rock solid this season which makes a Valencia goal more than likely at some point during the 90 minutes. Although they will be buoyed from their confidence boosting victory at Newcastle last weekend and we think they will just about do enough tonight to ensure their passage through to the next round. The Blues are priced at 7/1 to edge the match 2-1 and 6/1 to win 1-0, while Valencia are available at 12/1 to win 2-1 and also 12/1 to come away with a 1-0 win. A 1-1 draw may be a good bet at 6/2, especially considering that two of the last five meetings between the sides have ended in this way, and the fact that Valencia have drawn nine of their 14 matches in England.

Didier Drogba ias the 9/2 favourite to be the First Goalscorer tonight. Fernando Torres is also priced at 9/2 but could be a risky bet as he rarely starts matches these days, which means at 5/1 Daniel Sturridge could be the way to go. Frank Lampard can be backed at 6/1 to open the scoring while the in-form Juan Manuel Mata is available at 7/1. Valencia’s Roberto Soldado has been handed odds of 6/1, while Aritz Aduriz and Jonas Goncalves are both available at 8/1.Whatever happens it will certainly be a nervy night at the Bridge.

Champions League Money-Back Special – Manchester City v Villarreal

October 17, 2011

Champions League Money-Back Special – Manchester City v Villarreal

The Champions League returns to our screens on Tuesday with both Manchester clubs aiming to get back on track following slow starts. Both teams have relatively straight forward matches with bookmakers’ Ladbrokes offering a money-back special on the Manchester City v Villarrreal game. Ladbrokes will refund losing First Goalscorer bets on the match, if Edin Dzeko scores at any time. Dzeko was rested in City’s 4-1 win at the weekend which means he will be refreshed and ready to rumble on Tuesday. The Bosnian international can currently be found with odds of evens to score at any point during the match.

In contrast to their excellent league form Man City have struggled to get to grips with the Champions League. They were surprisingly held at home in their opening match against a battling Napoli and then they were totally outclassed in their last outing away to Bayern Munich. That match of course will be remembered for the whole Carlos Tevez saga but City have a good chance to put that behind them and kick-start their European dreams by getting their first win in the competition at home to Spanish side Villarreal, who are pointless after two matches. Ladbrokes have City as the odds on 1/3 favourites while Villarreal have been priced at 9/1, with a draw available at 4/1.

City have been scoring for fun at home this season and they look set to run out comfortable winners on Tuesday, with a 3-1 scoreline at 10/1 looking like a tempting bet.  Providing he is back to match fitness the in-form Sergio Aguero is the 7/2 favourite to open the scoring, while his strike partner Edin Dzeko is priced at 4/1 to score first. Midfield duo Samir Nasri and David Silva have both been handed odds of 7/1 to be the First Goalscorer while Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi is available at 9/1.

City’s fierce neighbours Manchester United are also in action on Tuesday with a trip to little known Romanian side Otelul Galati. Like City, Man Utd have had a disappointing start to the Champions League, failing to win in both of their games so far. However, last year’s runners up should simply be too strong for Galatic, whom themselves have yet to register a point in their debut season in the competition. Ladbrokes are United at short odds of 1/5 to come away with the three points, while the home side are the huge 14/1 outsiders. Wayne Rooney is the 5/2 favourite to open the scoring.

Man Utd Specials – 2011/12 Trophy Multiples Betting Odds with Betfred

July 8, 2011

Next season Manchester United not only want to continue asserting their dominance domestically but they want to close the gap between themselves and Barcelona, who convincingly defeated them in both the 2009 and 2011 Champions League Finals. In the aftermath of their defeat to Barcelona at Wembley in May, Sir Alex Ferguson acknowledged that the current Barcelona team are the best team he has ever faced during his time as manager. Every team in Europe is currently playing catch-up to Pep Guardiola’s scintillating side, who have been described as one of the best team’s of all time.

Fergie will certainly take no consolation from his United side’s status as the second best team in Europe and he will be more determined than ever to close the gap between United and the Catalans next season. He has already made a few decent summer signings in order to bolster his squad, having borught in the highly rated England Under 21 defender Phil Jones and England regular Ashley Young, plus the talented young goalkeeper David de Gea from Atletico Madrid. The Red Devils are also on the lookout for a replacement for Paul Scholes, who retired last season, and at present have their eye on Arsenal’s Samir Nasri and Tottenham’s Luka Modric.

United are the 7/4 favourites with Betfred to retain their Premier League trophy, in what is already looking to be a very competitive and action-packed 2011/12 season. Fierce local rivals Manchester City will offer their sternest challenge yet, as they continue to bring in high calibre players, including defenders Gael Clichy and Stefan Savic. Chelsea have something to prove under their talented new manager Andre Villas-Boas, while Kenny Dalglish’s Liverpool will provide a much tougher test than last season. If Arsenal and Tottenham can hold onto their best players and make some signings themselves then they will also be in with a shout come the end of the season.

Fergie’s men are available at 8/1 to win the Champions League, 11/2 for both the FA Cup and Carling Cup and 14/1 to win the Premier League and FA Cup double. They also have odds of 100/1 to repeat their historic treble winning season of 1998/99 by winning the Premier League, UEFA Champions League and FA Cup next season.

Chelsea and Andre Villas-Boas Specials with Paddy Power

June 23, 2011

Ever since Chelsea ruthlessly axed Carlo Ancelotti in the aftermath of their final game of the 2010/11 season there has been a media frenzy concerning the identity of their new manager. With Guus Hiddink the obvious favourite since betting commenced, it came as a surprise earlier this week when Andre Villas-Boas’s name was re-entered into the ballot. Yesterday Chelsea put an end to heavy speculation by appointing the 33-year-old as Ancelotti’s replacement, and as a result Paddy Power have an array of cracking Chelsea and Villas-Boas betting specials for the 2011/12 season, in what promises to be yet another entertaining year at Stamford Bridge.

After what happened to Ancelotti at the end of the previous campaign, following his failure to win any silverware, there will be heaps of pressure on Villas-Boas to win at least one trophy this season – for which he has odds of evens. The former Porto boss has already displayed his confidence by stating that he is targeting the quadruple in his very first season in change, a bold and perhaps erratic statement that he will surely regret come May…providing he lasts that long. As we know football is an unpredictable game and virtually anything can happen in the next 12 months…for instance can Chelsea do the unthinkable and win the Premier League, Champions League, Carling Cup and FA Cup at odds of 350/1? Unlikely but possible.

As the whole of the football world is aware, Roman Abramovich is absolutely obsessed with winning the Champions League, which is something that has so far eluded six different managers during the Russian’s time at the club. Paddy Power currently have Villas-Boas at 2/1 to win the lucrative European competition in his first season with the club. If the ambitious amongst you are feeling particularly inspired by his appointment then you can back Chelsea to match the famous Manchester United treble winning season of 1998/99 by placing a bet on the Blues to win the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup this upcoming season at odds of 100/1.

There has already been much talk on which team will inflict the first league defeat of the Villas Boas reign. The Portuguese manager has been dealt a potentially tricky first game away to Stoke City, and the Potters may be a good bet at 7/2 to deliver that first defeat on Chelsea’s new boss. In their following three games West Brom, Norwich and Sunderland are unlikely to pose too many problems but then on 17th September Chelsea have a crunch match with Manchester United at Old Trafford, which will be huge indicator of how they are progressing under their new boss.

Victor Chandler North London Derby Specials

April 20, 2011

Following their respective PFA Award wins yesterday, the bookies Victor Chandler are offering some money-back deals on Gareth Bale and Jack Wilshere. If either Tottenham’s electric winger Gareth Bale or Arsenal’s wonderkid Jack Wilshere score at anytime during tonight’s match, Victor Chandler will refund all losing First Goalscorer, Correct Score and Half Time/Full Time stakes as a Free Bet.

Tonight’s match is a must-win for both London sides. Not only is local pride at stake but the Premier League title race hangs in the balance as does qualification for next season’s Champions League. Following Manchester United’s goalless draw with Newcastle last night, Arsenal (for the umpteenth time this season) have the chance to claw themselves back into the title race by narrowing the gap between themselves and United to just four points. On the other hand Tottenham desperately need the three points to draw level with Manchester City as the two clubs fight it out for the fourth Champions League spot. Spurs had a fantastic run in this year’s Champions League and are gunning for a return to Europe’s elite tournament. Failure to qualify could result in an exodus of players, including their most prized asset Gareth Bale.

Harry Redknapp’s side will be looking for their third straight league win over Arsenal and their first league double over the Gunners since 1993. Tottenham came back from two goals down to defeat Arsenal 3-2 at the Emirates earlier this season and they can be backed at 22/1 with Victor Chandler to win by the same scoreline tonight. This fixture is known for the plethora of goals the games produce and there have been ten goals in the last two meetings alone. Who can forget the dramatic 4-4 draw two season’s ago in Redknapp’s first game in charge or Arsenal’s thrilling 5-4 win at White Hart Lane back in 2004. You can definitely count on fireworks tonight at The Lane.

Barcelona 12/1 to beat Real Madrid four times in El Clasico betting

April 14, 2011

Barcelona and Real Madrid’s respective Champions League wins over Shakhtar Donetsk and Tottenham has set up an engrossing four matches between the two sides in the space of just 18 days. The Spanish Giants will go head-to-head in the Champions League, La Liga and the Copa del Ray in what is being dubbed as the ‘four games of the century’.

The battle commences this Saturday (16th April) when Madrid host Barcelona in La Liga. Jose Mourinho’s men are still seething from their crushing 5-0 defeat to Barcelona at the Nou Camp and these four matches provide them with the perfect opportunity to inflict some revenge on their fierce rivals.  The teams will lock horns just a few days later (20th April) in the final of the Copa del Ray before their mouth-watering Champions League showdowns on 27th April and 3rd May.

Both teams are still on course for a treble which only adds to the hype, drama and expectation of both sets of fans. The epic clashes will determine the success of each team’s respective seasons along with the huge pride factor that comes with each El Clasico encounter. Victor Chandler have Barcelona at a tempting 12/1 to beat Madrid within 90 minutes in all four matches whilst Madrid are available at 66/1 to complete the clean sweep. Whilst Barcelona are the more likely team to win all four games within 90 minutes, the Madrid odds definitely offer more value and are certainly worth a cheeky flutter.

The ‘master tactician’ Jose Mourinho may opt to focus solely on the Champions League matches as this is the tournament the club craves the most and he may feel that Barcelona’s eight point lead in the league is just out of their reach. However, he would risk the wrath of all the fans if this backfires and I’m sure they will want to see 100% from their team in each match. Whatever happens the football world is in for ansbolute feast of football between two of the beautiful game’s biggest clubs.

Real Madrid v Barcelona 16th April Match Specials with Victor Chandler

150/1 – Barcelona to win 5-0

25/1 – Leoni Messi to score a hat-trick

12/1 – Barcelona to win all four games in 90 minutes

66/1 – Real Madrid to win all four games in 90 minutes

Tevez gunning for goals against Liverpool

April 7, 2011

Liverpool host Manchester City on Monday in a game they must win in order to keep their faint European hopes alive. The Reds are currently sixth in the Premier League with 45 points, 10 points behind fourth place Chelsea who hold the last Champions League spot. A defeat to Man City on Monday will all but end the Merseyside club’s spirited second-half-of-the-season quest to return to Europe’s elite next year.

Liverpool will be determined to bounce back from their disappointing defeat to relegation strugglers West Brom last weekend. They are unbeaten in their last eight matches at Anfield and haven’t lost at home to Man City since 2003. However, they have been blighted by injuries to key players such as captain Steven Gerrard and defenders Daniel Agger and Glen Johnson. In attack Liverpool will look to the on-form Dirk Kuyt who has netted five in his last three league games and Victor Chandler have the striker at 8/1 to open the scoring. Kuyt scored a stunning hat-trick against Manchester United last month and is 50/1 to grab three priceless goals against their rivals Man City.

In the last couple of months Man City have seen their title challenge slip away due to damaging defeats to Man United and Chelsea. They have also been dumped out of Europe by Dynamo Kiev as the pressure mounts on Roberto Mancini to bring silverware to Eastlands. The team responded well last weekend with a 5-0 thrashing of Sunderland and will be looking for a repeat performance on Sunday. One man who loves scoring against Liverpool is City captain Carlos Tevez, who has notched four goals in six Premier League appearances against Liverpool. Victor Chandler have the Argentine available at a very tempting 11/2 to open the scoring and 6/1 to score two or more goals during the match.

Victor Chandler have Liverpool as the favourites at 8/5 to collect all three points on Monday, while Man City are 15/8 to win and a draw is 23/10.

Rooney 33/1 to score second hat-trick in five days

April 6, 2011

The all-English Champions League quarter-final between Chelsea and Manchester United is a repeat of the 2008 final in Moscow, which Man Utd won after a dramatic penalty shoot-out. Chelsea, and in particular their captain John Terry, will be gunning for revenge in their first-leg encounter tonight at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea head into the game as the bookies favourites and Victor Chandler have them at 6/5 to win. Man Utd haven’t won at Stamford Bridge in their last 13 attempts and have only beaten Chelsea once in their last five meetings, and are priced at 11/4 to pull of a victory. When Chelsea and Man Utd lock horns the games are usually tight affairs.  Whilst Chelsea have only lost two of their last 41 Champions League games at Stamford Bridge, Man Utd have only experienced defeat twice in their last 21 Champions League away games – making a draw at 23/10 look tempting.

Despite not scoring in ten appearances and over 500 minutes since his £50million move to Chelsea, Fernando Torres is the favourite with Victor Chandler to open the scoring at 5/1. After a week of controversy Wayne Rooney will be wanting a repeat of his performance against West Ham, albeit without the camera incident, and is a tempting 33/1 to score another hat-trick. Chelsea are also the slight favourites to win the 2011 Champions League for the first time at 5/1 while Man Utd have odds of 7/1 to add to their two trophies.

Chelsea v Manchester United Specials with Victor Chandler:

  • 25/1 – Manchester United to be leading at half-time but Chelsea to win the match
  • 22/1 – John Terry to open the scoring
  • 8/1 – Chelsea to win 2-1
