2010 Bet365 Gold Cup Odds
April 23, 2010
The curtain falls on the 2010 National Hunt season at Sandown on Saturday afternoon with the running of the Bet365 Gold Cup, formerly known as the Whitbread Gold Cup and the Betfred Gold Cup in recent years. The Grade Three Chase, run over a distance of 3miles 5furlongs tradionally sees horses that failed to make an impression in the Grand National have a second attempt at landing a big prize over a shorter distance and this year’s race sees six of the 20 declared runners going under orders at Sandown after running in the Aintree showpiece just two weeks ago.
£200 Free Bet with race sponsor Bet365
The shortest price of those who ran in the National is The Package who was subject to good support at Aintree before unseating his rider half way round. The David Pipe runner is 10/1 to win the Bet365 Gold Cup and providing his Aintree exertions haven’t taken too much out of him, he should run his race. However, horses who did run in the Grand National don’t have a great record of winning this race with only one winner in the last ten years managing to do so.
The well backed favourite is Just Amazing, who represents champion trainer Paul Nicholls and judged on his winning re-appearance at Cheltenham last week looks to be well in at the weights off a mark of 139 and his current odds of 13/2 with Bet365 are only likely to get shorter. It is hard to see this seven year old not making his presence felt and looks the most likely winner.
Of the other runners, winner of this race in 2008, Monkerhostin, carries top weight and whilst age is against him, he does love Sandown and has proved he can carry big weights around the Surrey track and at 20/1 could be worth an each way flutter.

2010 Scottish Grand National Odds
April 15, 2010
Just a week after the Aintree Grand National, all eyes will be focused on Ayr Racecourse, north of the border, for the running of the 2010 Scottish Grand National on Saturday afternoon where bookmakers will be hoping that lightning doesn’t strike twice in the space of a week. Last Saturday, Bookmakers got hit where it hurt when Champion Jockey, Tony McCoy, won the Grand National on Don’t Push It, costing them a fortune in the process having gone off 10/1 joint favourite having been a 22/1 chance on Saturday morning.
McCoy teams up once again with the trainer of Don’t Push It, Jonjo O’Neil, in the Scottish equivalent this Saturday and you can guarantee that punters will be queuing up to back him to land the double on Theatrical Moment who is a best price 14/1 shot with Paddy Power and is not without chance on the back of some good displays this season and on a fair mark of 138.
The favourite for the race is Poker De Sivola who comes into the race on the back of his win in the National Hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in March, form which shows he will have no problem handinling the marathon 4 mile trip and could look well handicapped carrying 10 stone 11lb with more improvement possible. The fact that his trainer, Ferdy Murphy, has won this race three times in the past ten years only fuels confidence in this horses chances and is sure to take plenty of beating.
Second favourite is Meanus Dandy, who represents champion Trainer, Paul Nicholls, who has surprisingly only won this race once before, back in 1997, but his runner this year could be the one capable of ending that drought. A lightly race seven year old, Meanus Dandy could be anything in this field but the fact that he is 15/2 in the betting shows that bookmakers are not willing to take the risk that this Irish import is not thrown in at the weights. However, unlike his market rival, he must prove he has the stamina to stay this trip.

Is entry to the FA Cup final a mere formality for Chelsea?
April 9, 2010

Can United use the home advantage to beat Munich?
April 6, 2010
Wednesday night sees the German side Bayern Munich travel to Old Trafford for the return leg of the Champions League quarter finals. The first leg saw the Germans beat United 2-1 after United had gone initially ahead two late goals from Franck Ribery and Ivica Olic was enough for the Germans to win. During the course of the game Wayne Rooney scared thousands of England fans when he sustained a leg injury in the latter stages of the game, which many feared would put his World Cup campaign in jeopardy.
Man Utd v Bayern Munich
- 8/11 - Manchester United win
- 4/1 - Bayern Munich win
- 5/2 – Draw
The bookmakers Paddy Power will be refunding bets on this game on all of the losing first and last goal scorer bets, correct scores and scorecast singles made on the match if the game goes into extra time.

Will Cardiff be another notch on Forests home fixture belt?
April 5, 2010
The third and fourth teams in the Coca Cola Championship face each other late this afternoon in a game that if Cardiff win by 3 or more goals could see them overtake Forest as the third placed team in the league. Although Forest have had a great record at home (out of their last 16 home games they have won 15 and drawn once) they have not managed to beat Cardiff at the City Ground in five matches, losing on three occasions and drawing twice.
The current sponsors of Nottingham Forest Victor Chandler are running a free bet offer on this match if you place a bet on the correct score or first goal scorer market and Forest beat Cardiff then they will refund all losing stakes as a free bet.

Who will be the new face and body of Miss Ultimo?
March 30, 2010
Following the recent tabloid scandals regarding Peaches Geldof she has been dropped by Ultimo underwear as the face and body of their Miss Ultimo collection, the deal was said to be a nice and tidy six figure sum that will surely put a dent in Peaches partying fund.
If you are unaware who Peaches is she appears to be famous for being the daughter of Sir Bob Geldof (he of Live Aid and Boomtown Rats fame), other than that she has no other value! She is the UK’s version of Paris Hilton albeit an Aldi version

Another tough challenge awaits West Ham tonight as they face Wolves
March 23, 2010
West Ham have managed to lose their last three matches and tonight’s home fixture against fellow relegation contenders Wolves is a must win game for Gianfranco Zola side. The three losses have seen 8 goals go into the back of Robert Green’s net and they have only score 3 goals in reply, admittedly they have had some tough opposition in Arsenal and Chelsea of late so it could be turned around when they face some equal opposition.
