Chelsea placed favourite to win the Premier League again next season
May 10, 2010
It was a nail biting finish to the 2009/10 Barclay’s Premier League season for Chelsea and Manchester United fans, Chelsea needed a least a draw to be installed as Champions but if they lost and United won then Sir Alex Ferguson’s team would have pipped Chelsea in the title race, but both sides managed however to finish the last match of the season in style, Chelsea dominated Wigan beating them by an amazing 8-0, whilst Manchester United win Stoke by 4 goals to nil but whatever they scored would still leave them in second place one point behind Chelsea.
Although the 2010/11 season does not start until 14th August 2010 the bookmakers William Hill have already placed Chelsea as favourites to win the title again next season. Although Chelsea left it until the final day of the season they have had a very comfortable home season and only waivered a few times away from home.
2010/11 Premier League Winners
- 13/8 – Chelsea
- 5/2 – Manchester United
- 11/2 – Manchester City
- 11/2 – Arsenal
- 12/1 – Liverpool
- 25/1 – Tottenham
- 150/1 – Everton
- 250/1 – Aston Villa

Could Gary McAllister come back to save the Sky Blues or is O’Leary on his way?
May 5, 2010
In a decision that did not come as a shock to Coventry City fans their manager Chris Coleman was relieved of his duties as Coventry City manager the morning after the teams awards dinner and a shocking 4-0 home defeat against relegation fighters Watford. The game that sealed Coleman’s fate could have easily been a 6 or 7 goal affair due to the extremely poor performance on Coleman’s side. Since appointment by Coventry in February 2008 Coleman has been in charge for 117 games his side had produced only 34 wins and 37 draws, losing a shocking 46 games meaning his win to game percentage was only 29%, statistically this has made him the worst manager since Ron Atkinson took control of the side in February 1995 for 74 games.
Whoever takes charge of Coventry will have to face the similar struggles that a host of recent managers have come across (Adrian Heath, Micky Adams, Ian Dowie), in fact since they were relegated from the Premiership in 2001 they have gone through 7 permanent managers. Coventry currently play in a purpose built stadium that they do not own nor get any revenue from other than gate receipts (which only averages 17295 per game) and are unlikely to receive any great investment from the Ray Ranson (SISU) fronted hedge fund company that saved them from administration back in 2007.
As well as the normal faces that appear with every managerial job opportunity some surprise names have come into the fold which include some strong rumours that former player and manager of Coventry City Gary McAllister is in contention for the spot, he was resigned his position to care for his terminally ill wife and took a break from football, a return from him would be welcomed by the Sky Blue Army, however the favourite David O’Leary would not get such support having been in charge of arch rivals Aston Villa.

Will Villa suprise Sir Alex in the Carling Cup Final
February 25, 2010
Earlier this month Aston Villa met Manchester United in the Barclays Premier League in a game that pretty much decided in the first half, with the game ending 1-1, but we did get to see a sending off for United and Villa scoring an own goal. Nani’s sending off unfortunately it means he will be serving a three match and be ineligible for this fixture.
Now the two teams must meet again for the second time this month for the Carling Cup final (well the Football League Cup Final is its real name!) on Sunday 28th February from Wembley Stadium. Odds look like a win for Sir Alex’s side as the current holders of the trophy, but cup finals can bring out the best and worst in teams!
The bookmakers Victor Chandler are running a cash back betting offer on this game. If the match goes to the dreaded penalties then they will refund all losing first goal scorer bets and correct score bets as a free bet.

Will you spot Rooney at the Grand National?
March 24, 2009
Wayne Rooney is suspended for the clash against Aston Villa on the 5th April following his red card for his second bookable offence during United’s 2-0 loss against Fulham. This conveniently means he will be free should he be able to get away from Alex Ferguson to attend the 2009 Grand National at Aintree Racecourse. Bookies Paddy Power think he will might turn up and have a produced a quick special just in case!
Having grown up around Aintree he will be no stranger to the event and with his Wife Coleen enjoying days out where she can dress to the nines Rooney may decide to skip the match and join his wife, however Ferguson may prevent Rooney from going as all faces need to present at such a crucial part of the season. Rooney from capitalising on his red card at Craven Cottage by being seen out and about enjoying himself in public at such a crucial stage of the season.
A spokesman for Paddy Power, Darren Haines said: “Coleen will almost certainly be there as queen of the Liverpudlian WAGs but we think Fergie’s iron fist might rule out seeing Rooney at the races.”
