Burnley travel to Reading in the second leg of their Championship Play Off Semi Final second leg on Tuesday with a narrow one goal advantage following Saturday’s first leg 1-0 victory.
Clarets boss Owen Coyle was the first to admit that his side didn’t play as well as they could in the first leg but was grateful for lady luck (or the stupidy of Andre Bikey) for his side holding the advantage as they head to the Madjeski Stadium hoping to book their place in the final to play Sheffield United for the final remaining place in next season’s Premier League.
Burnley won the first leg 1-0 thanks to a penalty conceeded by Reading defender Andre Bikey, which was converted by Burnley’s Graham Alexander, after the Royals had looked much the better side for the majority of the game. Things got worse for the Cameroon international just minutes later when he was shown a red card for stampping on Burnley’s Robbie Blake. However, it was the actions following his dismall that was the source of much entertainment, as the Youtube clip below shows
Bikey is now suspended for the second leg and the final should Reading manage to turn the game around, however, just how far reaching his actions could be on the rest of the squad remain to be seen, but bookmakers favour Burnley to qualify and Ladbrokes are as short as 1/2 about the Lancashire club making the final whilst they go 6/4 that it is Reading.
