The 2000 Guineas and Epsom Derby winner, Sea the Stars, reappears at Sandown on Saturday and bookmakers have made the John Oxx trained runner the one to beat in the Coral Eclipse betting odds. Having bypassed the Irish Derby last weekend due to the soft going, Sea the Stars must once again match a feight that has not been acheived since Nashwan 20 years ago and become the first Derby winner to winner to land the Coral Eclipse. However, wannabe backers should not be put off by that stat given he has already emulated Nashwan this season by becoming the first Guineas winner to win the Epsom Classic.

The best odds available on Sea the Stars adding to his growing reputation are 10/11 with Ladbrokes and Stan James and with those odds having gradually shortened all week, it is expected that his price is only going to head in one direction by the off on Saturday afternoon.

It will take a brave man to back Sea the Stars at odds on as it requires a bigger stake to make the investment worthwhile but it will take an even braver man to oppose him! Conduit and Rip Van Winkle are the two vying for second favouritism, with both priced at best odds of 4/1 with Paddy Power, however, both rivals have plenty to find on form with Sea the Stars.
