Rafa Nadal The Slight Favourite In Tight Wimbledon Betting
June 13, 2011 · Print This Article
We are now getting ready to take in the greatest Tennis tournament in the World with a fortnight of action coming up from the All England Club at Wimbledon and the betting is looking extremely tight. At the moment Men’s tennis is in something of a purple patch with Roger Federer, Rafa Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray all in great form and according to the latest betting in with a chance of lifting the trophy. Nadal looked to be back to his very best at Roland Garros as he won another French Open recently and the defending Wimbledon Champion is the slight favourite with Paddy Power to win on the grass again at SW19.
Over the past two or three years Nadal has proven to be the best player in the world and that is reflected in his Wimbledon price of 2/1 with Paddy Power, he did look a little tired though during the Queens tournament recently and one or two may be looking to take him on. Nadal beat Roger Federer in the final at the French Open and the Swiss arrives in London looking somewhere near his very best, if he can carry that form into Wimbledon then there is no reason why Federer cannot win a remarkable seventh Crown at the All England Club. Paddy Power have recognised this and they have Federer as short as 9/4 to claim a 17th Grand Slam triumph on his favourite surface.
Outside of the top two punters will also want to look at Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic who both have the talent needed to win Wimbledon, Djokovic in particular has been in great form in 2011 and will be hoping to add to his Australian Open success back in January. The Serb only lost for the first time in 2011 in the French Open Semi-Finals and he goes into Wimbledon as a nice looking 10/3 shot with Paddy Power.com, he does not have a great record on the grass but such is his form at the moment he cannot be ruled out. Potentially we are getting ready for a classic Wimbledon this year with at least four genuine potential winners of the tournament and the betting is looking like one of the best markets of the year.
