The shortlist for the PFA Player of the Year (or to give its long winded title, The Professional Footballers’ Association Players’ Player of the Year!) is released in April with the winner being announced a few days later at a gala ceremony. The bookmaker Paddy Power have released their list of footballers that they think will make the grade.

Firm favourite to win, thanks to his amazing four goal run at the weekend against Hull, the Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has emerged as the favourite for the 2010 PFA Player of the year. Wayne has seen his odds cut from 2/1 to 13/8 with his closest rival is Arsenal Captain Cesc Fabregas at odds of 15/8.

Surprisingly last years winner, and the winner of the 2009 BBC Sports Personality of the Year; Ryan Giggs is very much an Ryan Giggs to win this years votes having being given odds of 40/1.  At those odds he is well worth a punt before they slip down to more realistic ones!
