Northumberland Plate Betting

Judgethemoment is heads the betting for Saturday’s Northumberland Plate following last week’s win in the Ascot Stakes at Royal Ascot. The Jane Chapple-Hyam trained runner won the 2 mile 4 four handicap on Day One of the Royal meeting in impressive fashion but must shoulder a 5lb penalty for that victory when he lines up at Newcastle Racecourse’s feature race of the flat season on Saturday. He is clearly a horse on the upgrade having landed a hat trick of wins from his three starts so far this season and is 8/1 in the bookmakers odds to make it four on the bounce when he drops to the two mile test that the Northumberland plate presents, but that won’t be a problem at all, thus he is a leading contender providing the extra weight doesn’t take its toll.

It looks set to be an ultra competitve race, with several of the runners in the betting holding strong claims. Lasy tear’s winner wasArc Bleu from the Tony Martin yard in Ireland and it is another Irish Raider in the form of Jessica Harrington’s Speed Ticket who catches the eye. Very lightly raced for five years of age, this horse has shown signs that he has room for plenty of improvement and could be a big danger.
