Jenson Button favourite for BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2009

On Monday of this week the BBC released the top 10 contenders for their coveted Sports Personality of the Year. This years list covers 9 sports and for the first time since 2005 a footballer has been included. The list is very tight and surprising they have missed out the Olympic Champion and Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year 2009 Victoria Pendleton.
The show will be screen live on BBC1 and takes place on December 13th in front of 11,000 people at the Sheffield Arena with appearances from James Corden, Melanie Chisholm and Denise Lewis. The winner of the award will be completely decided by public votes with no judging panel. All the entrants are worthy of the honour but so you know what they do, here is our exclusive review of the final 10.

- 14/1 – Andrew Strauss – (Won the smallest trophy in the world)
- 50/1 – Beth Tweddle – (Jumps around a bit)
- 50/1 – Andy Murray – (Angry Scottish tennis player)
- 66/1 – Tom Daley – ( Jumps into water)
- 66/1 – Mark Cavendish (Rides a bike very fast)
- 100/1 – Phillips Idowu (Can jump a long way)
