Irish Grand National Odds
April 9, 2009 · Print This Article
The Irish Grand National Odds look as competitive as ever with no fewer than six of the runners vying for favouritism across the various bookmakers for Easter Monday’s feature at Fairyhouse.
Wichita Lineman and Emma Jane currently head the betting as co-favoruites with Irish bookmaker Paddypower at 9/1 and both have the form to suggest that big runs can be expected.
Wichita Lineman heads across the Irish Sea for trainer Jonjo O’Neil (who won this race two years ago) on the back of a fine effort to win the William Hill Trophy at the Cheltenham Festival last out where he blundered a couple of fences and left himself plenty to do before rallying under the guidance of jockey, Tony McCoy. Similar errors on Monday won’t be as easy to rectify and this is the first time he has travelled overseas to race but providing all goes well, he is a worthy favourite.
Emma Jane has been targetted at this race by trainer Willie Mullins and stands a great chance of beating her male counterparts. The Tony martin runner, Royal County Star finsihed second in this race last year and is entitlted to go well once again whilst Welsh Grand National winner Notre Pere has an outstandign chance if abel to defy top weight.
