The Martin Pipe Conditional Jockey’s Hurdle is the last but one race of the 2010 Cheltenham Festival starting at 16.40 today. It is the newest race of the Festival, it made its debut in 2009 and was won by Andytown trained by Nicky Henderson and ridden by Felix de Giles. It was named in honour of champion trainer Martin Pipe who recorded a record thirty four wins at the Cheltenham Festival.

The race is restricted to jump jockeys that not won more than 75 races these are known as Conditional Jockeys, and horses that aged 4 years and over. The race is a handicap National Hunt hurdle that covers a distance of 2 miles and 4.5 furlongs with nine fences to be jumped on the New Course at Cheltenham.
