The Madrid Open kicks off today in Spain as the top players on the men’s tour look to impress ahead of the French Open on May 17th. The bookies Victor Chandler are offering punters a fantastic match bet deal whereby if your chosen player is beaten in a final set tie-break they will refund your losing stake as a FREE BET!

Rafael Nadal is understandably the clear favourite to win the third Masters of 2011. The Spaniard has been in sublime form in recent months, winning in both Monte Carlo and Barcelona. The clay court specialist is reaching his peak just in time for the French Open and it is difficult to look past him this week in Madrid. Another player in fine form is Nadal’s Spanish counterpart David Ferrer, who finished as the runner-up to the World No.1 in both Monte Carlo and Barcelona. Ferrer will be hoping to make it a case of third time lucky in Madrid and at 20/1 is definitely worth a punt.

Novak Djokovic, who has spent the last few weeks on the sidelines with a knee injury, will be looking to come back where he left off as the Serbian remains undefeated this year. The 2011 Australian Open Champion is the second favourite at 7/2 and looks a good bet to challenge Nadal. At 10/1 Roger Federer is always worth a bet, however it is difficult to see him getting the better of Nadal or Djokovic on his least favourite surface. The third seed was disappointing in Monte Carlo where he lost to Jurgen Melzer in the quarterfinals. Andy Murray, who lost a thrilling semi-final to Nadal in Monaco, missed the event in Barcelona due to an elbow injury but showed glimpses of his best form in Moncao and is worth backing at 20/1, although he does face a potential showdown with Djokovic in the semi-finals and we all know what happened in Australia…

Other players to keep an eye out for include Juan Martin Del Potro at 20/1, Thomas Berdych at 40/1, and don’t be fooled by Fernando Verdasco on long odds of 50/1. The Spaniard is a cracking player who can challenge anyone on his day.
