Brentford favourites to win first leg of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy southern area final

Stop looking at the Premier League table and whether your side will make it to the Champions League next year, there is some real football happening tonight. It is the first leg of the southern area final of the Football League Trophy more commonly known as the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tonight. It is taking place at from Brentford Griffin Park stadium at 19.45, with coverage available on BBC Radio 5 Live. Once the second leg gets completed in February the winners of the final will take on the winners of the Northern Section final which will be either Carlisle United or Huddersfield Town.

The two teams last met only last Friday in their League One clash which ended in a 1-1 draw but Brentford are fully expected to win this first leg.
