Chelsea v Man Utd Odds and Betting Offer

Chelsea v Man Utd is arguably the biggest game of the Premier League season, the only other game that challenges it is when Man Utd welcome Chelsea to Old Trafford. Sunday’s game at Stamford Bridge is sure to be a big betting event as it will be the first time that the two sides have met since that eventful night in Moscow back in May, when Man Utd won the Champions League final on penalties. Depsite a new manager in the form of Phil Scolari taking his place in the Stamford Bridge hot seat, the Blues are sure to be out for revenge and take poll position in the Premier League title race.
Before the season kicked off, bookmakers could not split Man Utd and Chelsea in the betting for who will be crowned Premiership Champions 2008/2009. However, after a somewhat slower start than their London rivals, Manchester United have drifted in the betting, leaving Chelsea as the clear favourites. Paddypower currently make Chelsea the 10/11 favourites to win the league after winning three and drawing one of their opening four Premier League fixtures. In contrast, Man United have been pushed out to 5/2 following just one win from their opening three matches. Despite it being very early days, Chelsea will see this game as a great opportunity to move nine points clear of their rivals and are favourites to win the game at odds of 5/4. United are 11/5 to register their first win at Stamford Bridge since April 2002 and the draw is a 21/10 chance.
Bookies are predicting that it will be a close game and the favourite correct score is a 1-1 draw at 9/2 with a 1-0 home win is considered the next most likely outcome at 5/1. In the first goalscorer betting, Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka head the betting at 6/1 for either to open the scoring. Man Utd are likely to welcome back Cristiano Ronaldo from injury and he is a 13/2 chance to bag the first goal on his return to the side, new signing Dimitar Berbatov is also a 13/2 chance with Lampard a 15/2 chance and Wayne Rooney 8/1.
If you plan to have a bet on this game Paddypower will be refunding all losing first/last goalscorer, correct scorer and scorecast bets if a red card is shown at any time during the match.
