Brentford favourite to win southern area final of the Johnstones Paint Trophy

February 7, 2011 · Print This Article

The second leg of the southern area final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy takes place tonight between Exeter and Brentford. In the previous leg the outcome of the game was a goal apiece but Brentford will be going into this game with a new manager following the sacking of Andy Scott early last week. His replacement is player Nicky Forster who was the scorer of Brentford’s last minute equaliser in the previous leg who has ruled himself out of playing in this match.

With Nicky Forster not playing it looks like the forward line for Brentford will consist of Charlie MacDonald and Gary Alexander but Brentford will be without the midfielder Owain Tudur Jones who is cup-tied. Exeter will be welcoming back their striker Jamie Cureton who had been out due to a hamstring injury and is being given odds of 11/2 to be the games first goal scorer.

Who ever wins tonight should be then heading to Wembley Stadium to take on Carlisle who should be the victors of the northern area final unless something spectacular happens in their second leg toe against Huddersfield tomorrow as they won comfortably 4-0 in the first leg.
