Kasabian look set to rock the Brits 2010 with at least Best British Group

February 16, 2010

Tonight will see the “Best of British” pop music acts head down to Earls Court for the Brits 2010 Awards Ceremony. Although it originally started in 1977 as the British Record Industry Britannia Centenary Awards and came from the Wembley Conference Centre it will mark the shows 30th outing due to a couple of years without the event.

Over the years there have been some memorable events such as the terrible presenting by Samantha Fox and Mick Fleetwood in 1989 and Jarvis Cocker mooning during a performance by Michael Jackson in 1996, will there be any surprises to come in this years ceremony?

X Factor winner Joe McElderry career betting odds

December 21, 2009

Poor X Factor winner Joe McElderry lost out in the battle for the Christmas number one to Rage Against the Machines infamous “Killing in the Name” song due to a campaign that was engineered on the social networking site Facebook.  Joe lost out by around 50,000 sales, with Rage clocking in at an incredible 500,000 downloads, making it the most downloaded song in the UK ever and the first ever download only number one single. Following this upset to the X-Factor apple cart the bookies Paddy Power believe that this event could have put a scupper on the career of poor Joe.

Feel the Rage as battle for the Christmas number one heats up

December 17, 2009

Earlier on in the month we had thought that the battle for the Christmas number one single would be a sure fire thing, like it has been for the last few years, the X-Factor show finishes and the sheep all go and buy the single (no matter how lame, talking to you Leon Jackson) and the song becomes the festive hit single.

However the likes of Simon Cowell did not realise how powerful the social networking site Facebook can be in rallying up support for a cause. A couple of disgruntled music lovers were fed up of the same old same and thought of the excellent idea of getting Rage Against The Machines 1993 anthem “Killing in the Name of” as the alternative Christmas number one, they started a group on Facebook and within a short time had several thousand members and at the time of writing this has hit over 800,000 members. They then asked all the members to download via iTunes or other digital music outlets.
