The world renowned boat race between teams from the Oxford University Boat Club and the Cambridge University Boat Club takes place on 26th March 2011 at 5pm and at it will be the 158th running of this competition between the competing Universities.
Oxford will be looking to regain their title after they lost to Cambridge in 2010 by 1 and 1/3 lengths. Cambridge are currently leading the series which began in 1829 by 80 to 75 (the race has only been held to a dead heat on 2 occasions). Oxford have had the most wins up to 2010 between the 2 Universities but no team since 2000 has managed to win on more than 3 times in succession, this was wan Oxford broke Cambridge’s 7 race unbeaten run.
The race will be broadcast live on ITV1 and a crowd of around 250,000 spectators is expected to link the banks of the Thames to witness the event. The boat race is four miles and 374 yards long (6,779m) and it starts at Putney Bridge and ends at Chiswick Bridge

Oxford v Cambridge boat race betting odds

The Varsity boat race takes place on Sunday 29th March 2009 at 15:40 it will be the 155th time this grand race between the two Universities has taken place. The last race in 2008 was won by Oxford but Cambridge are leadings having beat Oxford 79 – 74.
The 2009 Boat Race sponsored by Xchanging will be known as the battle of the giants, as each team fielding their heaviest teams. The Oxford side (which includes 5 Olympians will weigh an average of 15st 9bs and 13 ounces, with the Cambridge crew coming in at 15st 1lb and 13 ounces.
The race will be shown live on ITV1 and be witnessed by a crowd of around 250,000 spectators who will encamped on the banks of the Thames from Putney to Mortlake.
