David Haye v Wladimir Klitschko Odds: Fascinating World Heavyweight Boxing Betting

June 16, 2011

We now juts a few short weeks away from the biggest World Heavyweight title fight in recent times with David Haye heading over to Germany to face Wladimir Klitschko in Hamburg on July 2nd. The massive unification bout has been on the cards for some time now but finally the talking is over and both men will need to walk the walk if they are to come through what is potentially the toughest fight of both fighters career. Haye of course is the WBA Champion while Wladimir Klitschko currently holds three versions of the World title, the winner of the fight will be able to call themselves the best Heavyweight in the world and the betting markets for the bout are looking fascinating.

There is no doubt that Klitschko is the warm favourite to win the fight by any method with experience, height and discipline on his side, the Ukranian fighter has racked up close to 60 fights and he can be backed at 4/7 with Victor Chandler to beat Haye. It does have to be said though that Klitschko is not the most exciting fighter in the world and much of that is down to the fact he is perceived to have a glass chin after being being knocked down a number of times during his career. Klitschko will try to keep Haye at distance with his excellent jab and that means that the 7/2 about him winning on points with VC Bet looks tempting and could prove plenty of value for punters.

Many believe that David Haye has the superior speed and punch power against Klitschko and that means the Hayemaker is a force to be reckoned with despite being the underdog, he has a massive support base in the UK and they will be quick to back him at 11/8 with VC Bet.com to win the fight. Haye will need to create angles to get past the jab of Klitschko and if he can then he will fancy his chances of knocking out the Ukrainian, punters wanting to back Haye to win by TKO or DQ can get a price of 15/8 with Victor Chandler and that could prove a nice piece of value.

David Haye v Wladimir Klitschko Odds with Victor Chandler

  • 4/7 – Wladimir Klitschko
  • 11/8 – David Haye
  • 33/1 – Draw

Method Of Victory Odds

  • 13/10 – Klitschko by TKO or DQ
  • 15/8 – Haye by TKO or DQ

Carl Froch and Andre Ward The Favourites In Super 6 Betting

June 1, 2011

The Super 6 tournament seems to have been running for some time now but we are finally heading towards the conclusion with the search to find the best Super-Middleweight fighter on the planet. We already know that the brilliant Andre Ward is in the final and he will be facing either Carl Froch or Glen Johnson for the right to be crowned the king of the 12 stone division. Froch and Johnson face each other this weekend in the second Semi-Final and most believe that Froch is the one to beat with the Cobra the odds on favourite with Boylesports, the man from  Nottingham is the current WBC Champ and a final showdown with Ward is a mouthwatering prospect.

Froch has been fighting all comers over the past few years with only one defeat against Mikkel Kessler to his name so far, he bounced back from that last time though when he comprehensively out boxed Arthur Abraham to reclaim the World title. He faces the ageing Glen Johnson in the Super 6 Semi-Final and he is priced at 2/9 with Boylesports to claim the win by any method while Johnson is the rank outsider at a price of 10/3 with the same bookmaker to claim an unlikely win.

In terms of the overall Super 6 Betting it is Andre Ward who is the clear favourite to claim the win and that comes after he destroyed Arthur Abraham on points last time out, the American is waiting in the final and can be backed at 4/11 with Boylesports.com to claim the win. Ward will need to be wary of Carl Froch though as the Nottingham fighter has shown his resilience on a number of occasions recently when faced with adversity, the Cobra should reach the final and at the moment is available at 9/4 with Boylesports to claim the overall Super 6 Crown later in the year.

Carl Froch v Glen Johnson Fight Odds with Boylesports

  • 2/9 – Carl Froch
  • 10/3 – Glen Johnson
  • 33/1 – Draw

Outright Super 6 Betting

  • 4/11 – Andre Ward
  • 9/4 – Carl Froch
  • 20/1 – Glen Johnson

James Degale Odds On To Beat George Groves In Latest Betting

May 16, 2011

This weekend sees one of the most eagerly anticipated domestic boxing bouts in living memory take place with fierce rivals James Degale and George Groves doing battle at the O2 Arena on a great night of boxing. The two British Super-Middleweights have been trading verbal insults since they were in short trousers and with both fighters unbeaten in the Pro ranks this is a potentially massive clash for both men. The rivalry stems back many years when both were part of the same amateur gym in London and vying to be the best, they have both been fighting for that right ever since with the bout on Saturday finally set to settle that score.

There is no doubting that James Degale is the favourite to win the clash with an Olympic Gold Medal already in his cabinet as well as being the current British Super-Middleweight Champion having defeated Paul Smith in style last year. Degale looks to have the more experience and faster hands and that is reflected in his current price of 1/4 with Bet365 to win the fight. Groves though is also a class act under the tutelage of Adam Booth and although he has been less impressive than Degale as a pro so far he remains unbeaten and does have an amateur victory over Degale on his CV making him a dangerous opponent. Groves is the Commonwealth Champion and although he is the underdog he is not without a chance and can be backed a long looking 11/4 with Bet365.com to win on Saturday night.

Degale was hugely impressive against Paul Smith last December to win the British Title and many believe he could be the next big British Boxing star on the world stage, he has blurring hand speed to go with some heavy hands and he will be hoping that gives him the edge against Groves. Degale is likely to be strong for Groves with a late stoppage likely to be where the value is for punters having a bet, the Olympic Champion can be backed at a nice looking 14/1 with Bet365 to stop his rival in Round 9 and that could be cracking value. In truth the fight promises to be an absolute classic with the winner likely to be heading towards a world title fight in the near future as well as picking up the all important bragging rights between the pair.

James Degale v George Groves Betting with Bet365

  • 1/4 – James Degale
  • 11/4 – George Groves

Degale v Groves Round Betting

Manny Pacquiao heavy favourite against Shane Mosley

May 5, 2011

On Saturday May 7th Manny Pacquiao takes on Shane Mosley at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas in one of the biggest boxing showdowns of the year. The pound-for-pound king Pacquiao is undoubtedly the heavy favourite for the fight, but that’s not to say that Mosley doesn’t have the talent and ability to spring an upset. The bookies obviously don’t think Mosley has a chance, with Paddy Power offering long odds of 11/2 for the American to come away with the biggest win of his career.

The form is definitely with Pacquiao. The Filipino eight-division World Champion has been ruthlessly destroying every fighter that dares step in the ring with him, and hasn’t experienced a defeat since way back in 2005. In contrast the 39-year-old Mosley is past his prime and has shown signs of weariness in his last couple of fights. His stamina and strength are not what they were, which has resulted in a more scrappy fighting style. However, no one can doubt Sugar’s resilience and courage and remember he is still a World Champion in three weight divisions. Nonetheless, Mosley has done well to even be in contention.

It is likely that Pacquiao will win via-decision and is 13/8 to do so with Paddy Power. The Pac-man likes to wear down his opponents and often leaves it late, and Paddy Power have him at odds of 12/1 to win in the 12th Round. Mosley has never been knocked out in his career, yet this could be his time to buckle and Pacquiao has short odds of 4/6 to win by knock-out or technical knock-out. The odds are stacked against Mosley, but if he is to stand a chance you think he will have to come all guns blazing as he did against Floyd Mayweather in 2010 when he troubled him in the second round. Paddy Power have Mosley at 33/1 to win in rounds 1-3.

Ultimately Pacquiao will be too good, it is more a question of which round the fight will end in. Pacquiao is 4/1 to win in rounds 7-9 and 10/3 to win in rounds 10-12. At 32 years of age Pacquiao still has a number of good years ahead of him, whether he choses to continue in the ring is a subject open to debate, as at some point or another he will branch into the world of politics. The boxing world still has its fingers tightly crossed for the dream fight: Manny Pacquiao v Floyd Mayweather.

Amir Khan Odds On To Defeat Paul McCloskey In Latest Defence

April 5, 2011

Over the past 18 months we have seen Amir Khan rise to be one of the biggest stars in Boxing and the Bolton fighter will be looking to continue that upward curve in the latest defence of his WBA Super Lightweight Title against the tough Paul McCloskey. Khan has improved beyond all recognition under the tutelage of Freddie Roach and another win for Khan at the MEN Arena should set up a Super Lightweight unification bout with Timothy Bradley in the summer. First though Khan will need to focus on the unbeaten McCloskey who is hoping to upset the odds and defeat Khan in an all-British World Title fight.

The bookmakers are convinced that Khan will have a relatively easy night in Manchester with Boylesports making him the 1/9 favourite to win the fight with European Champion McCloskey the outsider at a price of 11/2 to cause the upset. There is no doubt that Khan is in a different league as a boxer to McCloskey with his speed and skill likely to prove too much for his opponent with complacency likely to be the biggest danger to him. The man from Northern Ireland is clearly a top fighter and he remains unbeaten in an already successful career, McCloskey will be hoping his southpaw style will prove awkward for Khan who has been training with Manny Pacquaio out in the Philippines in preparation for this fight.

The real value in any bout is to be found in the round betting or the method of victory and that is the case here with Amir Khan such a strong favourite. Khan is expected to win by either TKO or DQ according to Boylesports and that is priced at 2/5. Anyone wanting to back McCloskey to cause a massive shock may want to take a closer look at the 10/1 on offer from Boylesports about the man from Northern Irishman knocking out Amir Khan, with some still questioning the chin of the Champion having been knocked out early in his career by Breidis Prescott. Khan did put many of those doubts to bed when he beat hard hitting Marcos Maidana in Las Vegas in December in a fight which has been widely acknowledged as one of the best fights in recent memory, that will mean nothing though Khan steps into the right with McCloskey in what is sure to be one of the best atmospheres around.

Amir Khan v Paul McCloskey Win Odds

  • 1/9 – Amir Khan
  • 11/2 – Paul McCloskey
  • 40/1 – Draw

Khan v McCloskey Method Of Victory Betting

  • 2/5 – Khan by TKO or DQ
  • 5/2 – Khan by Decision
  • 10/1 – McCloskey by TKO or DQ
  • 16/1 – McCloskey by Decision

Wladimir Klitschko early favourite for summer showdown

March 25, 2011

The fight the boxing world craves is due to happen on Saturday 25th June. The WBA Heavyweight Champion David Haye will take on the IBF and WBO Champion Wladimir Klitschko in one of the most anticipated heavyweight bouts in recent history.

The credibility of the heavyweight division has rapidly declined since the days of Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson, with Haye’s almost comical third-round win against Audley Harrison last November and Vitali Klitschko’s recent first-round win over the Cuban Odlanier Solis reflecting the lack of competitiveness in the division. The unification contest between Haye and the younger Klitschko will hopefully restore some pride and generate some much needed excitement in the badly bruised heavyweight division.

At the time of writing Skybet have Klitschko as the slight favourite with odds of 4/7, whilst Haye is 11/8 to win and a draw 28/1. Both fighters have vowed to knock the other out with Klitschko again edging it at 4/1, with David Haye 6/1. Over the past two years Haye and the Klitschko brothers have been engaged in numerous verbal spars with nothing ever materialising. Providing Wladimir can recover from a stomach injury the fight will go ahead. Should he not then his older brother Vitali will most probably step in.
