One of the hottest bets made on the Cheltenham Festival is who will be this years top jockey, coming home on the most winners during the four day duration of the event. It is normally a hotly contested event but last years winner Ruby Walsh is a very clear early favourite to repeat his success.
The bookies Bet 365 have released their list of odds for the coveted top jockey spot and it is no surprise to see Ruby Walsh dominating the pack.
During his time at Cheltenham Walsh has logged an almost record breaking 24 wins, he just needs one more win to equal the record set by Pat Taaffe. In 2009 Ruby went on to ride seven winners over the four days, an almost impossible personal record to break. His closest rival Barry Geraghty managed to win just win three races in 2009 and has a career total of sixteen Cheltenham wins.

Bet on JP McManus to have some winners on day one of the Cheltenham Festival

The Champion trainer JP McManus will be looking to replicate his opening day wins of last year where on the opening day of the Cheltenham Festival when he managed to produce two winners in Lineman and Garde Champetre. For this years festival he will be having high hopes in the Supreme Novices’ for Get Me Out Of Here and in the Arkle Chase is Captain Cee Bee. Binocular could be a good hope in the Champion Hurdle and of course the firm favourite Garde Champetre who will be aiming for his 3rd straight win in the Cross Country Chase.

Dunguib is bookies favourite for the Spinal Research Supreme Novices Hurdle

The opening race of the four day Cheltenham Festival is the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle which is a grade 1 national hunt race open to horses aged 4 years and over. The race will be ran on the old course and will cover a distance of 2 miles and 110 yards, horses on the race will be jumping over 8 hurdles.

Running on the New Course at the Cheltenham Festival the Ryanair Chase is a grade 1 National Hunt race open to horses aged five years and older. The race itself is ran over a distance of 2 miles and 5 furlongs and there will seventeen fences to be jumped, which is sure to be an exciting race.

Solwhit is the new favourite for the 2010 Champion Hurdle

The favourite for the 2010 Champion Hurdle which is scheduled for day one of the Cheltemham Festival has now gone to Solwhit from odds of 4/1 to just 7/2 following the defeat of Zaymarat Kelso. Go Native has also seen its odds slashed from 5/1 to become the second favourite at odds of 9/2. Last years winner show winner Punjabi is showing odds of 10/1 compared to last years 22/1.
The Cheltenham Festival takes place from Prestbury Park and is known as the home of the national hunt races, the festival looks set to attract hundreds of thousands of punters over the course of the four day festival.

The Albert Bartlett Novice Hurdle is ran on the final day of the four day Cheltenham Festival and is ran on the new course over a distance of three miles, it was originally known as the Brit Insurance Hurdle and it was ran as a grade 2 race, it has now been upgraded to a grade 1 race with a prize fund now of £100,000.
