Higuain leading the pack to be the World Cup top goal scorer
June 29, 2010
All over England betting slips lay torn up and discarded on the floors of betting shops and punters have seen their sure fire certs go by the wayside as the hundreds of thousands of pounds that backed England striker to win the World Cup Golden Boot now line the accounts of the bookmakers. In what should have been the football equivalent of shooting fish in a barrel Wayne Rooney failed to score a solitary goal for his England side.
However if you were wise enough to look past the England squad and looked at the South American players early on in the tournament you may have struck a bargain as the current leading goal scorer at the tournament is Argentinean Gonzalo Higuain who was well over odds of 50/1 to be top goal scorer and Germany’s Thomas Mueller was not in the top ten to gain the golden boot.
World Cup top goal scorer odds
Odds are supplied by Paddy Power and the goal scorers current tally is listed in brackets.
- 9/4 – Gonzalo Higuain(4 goals)
- 22/1 – Thomas Mueller (3 goals)
- 3/1- David Villa (3 goals)
- 10/3 – Luis Fabiano (3 goals)
- 14/1 – Luis Suarez (3 goals)

June 28, 2010
With all the commotion over the World Cup sure to be reduced over the next few days now that England have been unceremoniously dumped out the of the tournament by a superior German side the punters out there are looking to more reliable teams to wager on. One of those teams that have not yet disappointed (well other than that abysmal draw against Portugal) and they are set to play Chile in their round of 16 match tonight from Ellis Park stadium in Johannesburg.
This fixture should be a standard affair for the stars of Brazil, the two sides have met each other on 65 previous occasions with Brazil only losing 7 of these fixtures and have won their last seven games against Chile scoring 26 goals in the process whilst only conceding 3 goals.
The bookmaker Bet Fred are running another of their now famous World Cup cash back offers. If Brazil’s Robinho’s can score the last goal of the game then they will refund all losing stakes on the first and last goal scorer bets as well as correct scores and scorecast singles for you to use as a free bet.

June 25, 2010
The England football team has given the nation a tiny glimmer of hope that the 2010 World Cup in South Africa is not yet over, they have managed to surpass the likes of France and Italy and have qualified for the round of 16 as runners up. If they had qualified as the winners of the Group they would however have had a much easier route to the final, looking at other fixtures should be managed to defeat the Germans on Sunday we will then face Argentina, Spain (maybe!) and then Brazil in the final if the boys can get that far then the poor performances in the Group stages will be easily written out of the history books!

Another offer on the game comes from Boylesports who will refund several markets including first and last goal scorer, hat-tricks and more if Germany’s Miroslav Klose scores the final goal of the match.

June 23, 2010
Come 3pm the streets, schools and workplaces around our great nation will be quiet. save hopefully for the sound of elation as goals roll in as England take on Slovenia in the final game of England’s Group C campaign. Fabio Capello’s side make the journey to Port Elizabeth to take on Matjaz Kek’s Slovenia side at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium from 3pm today, the match can be watched live on BBC1.
Team England will have to put aside the recent poor performances against the USA and Algeria where many expected England to pick up all 6 points on offer we have only came away with a measly 2 and will need all 3 points on offer today to guarantee our continuation in the tournament so that we can progress to the knockout stages which beings with the round of 16.
The Irish bookmaker PaddyPower who must be elated that France are now on their way home after stealing Irelands rightful place in the tournament are showing their jubilation by offering to refund bets made on the match today if the game ends 0-0. The company shelled out a record amount in refund following the England v Algeria game and hopefully will not be doing the same today.

Odds slide for France as it looks like an early World Cup exit for them
June 21, 2010
By the close of business today all of the 32 teams in the World Cup will have each played two of their group games and so far only Holland, Argentina and Brazil have definitely qualified for the next stage of the competition.
Results all around the tournament in South Africa have seen some shock results and surprises that have left several of teams that were heavily tipped to win the competition not even likely to get to the round of 16. Among the worst hit in tournaments casualties are France who thanks to the sending home of Nicolas Anelka and the refusal of the team to train over the weekend have seen their odds of winning the tournament go from 20/1 to 150/1 and are at odds of 10/1 to qualify from their group.
Tournament outright odds
With the likes of England, France, Spain, Italy and Germany are all in danger of exiting early the odds for the winner of the tournament have dropped quite a bit for Argentina and Brazil. Below are the odds for the original seeded teams supplied by Paddy Power.
- 4/1 – Brazil
- 9/2 – Argentina
- 5/1 – Spain
- 8/1 – Holland
- 10/1 – Germany
- 10/1 – England
- 22/1 – Italy

Will there be snow in Africa this World Cup Time?
June 16, 2010
Hum the title to the Band Aid single and you might get a little chuckle on your face but quite surprisingly it may actually happen during the 2010 FIFA World Cup and more importantly it could even happen in the England versus Algeria came this coming Friday night. The weather out in South Africa has come as a shock to some of the travelling fans who were quite surprised how cold it is in South Africa at times, the opening ceremony itself had freezing temperatures of below zero degrees centigrade.
It is currently winter in South Africa and bookies William Hill could be forced to pay out a five figure sum to some canny punters who got in on the idea quite sharpish. Before the tournament started William Hill was dishing out odds of 12/1 for snow to fall any time during the 90 minutes of the England game against Algeria, those odds have now been slashed to just 4/1!
England v Algeria Snow Specials
- 4/1 – Snow to fall during the game.
- 100/1 – The game to be abandoned due to snow
