Barcelona v Chelsea Odds – Lionel Messi First Goalscorer Special
April 23, 2012
Barcelona v Cheslea – Tuesday, April 24th (Sky Sports 2, 7.45pm)
Chelsea travel to Barcelona on Tuesday for their crunch last four second-leg Champions League clash. A dogged defensive display at Stamford Bridge means Chelsea head into the second-leg with a 1-0 lead, but they know they will face relentless pressure from Barcelona as the Catalans side seek to overturn the deficit and progress through to the Final. Barcelona are the hot 2/7 favourites to win on Tuesday, while Chelsea have been handed long odds of 9/1, with a draw available at 9/2. Barcelona also have short odds of 4/9 to progress through to the Final, while Chelsea can be backed at 13/8.
Back-to-back defeats may have rocked Barcelona’s confidence ahead of Tuesday’s match and Chelsea will therefore be looking to take advantage and pile more misery on their opponents. After losing at home to Real Madrid on Saturday Barcelona’s title hopes are all but over, leaving the Champions League trophy as their only chance of winning silverware this season.
Pep Guardiola’s men are available at 6/1 to win 1-0 in 90 minutes and take the game into extra-time, while a 3-1 scoreline is priced at 8/1. Barcelona may end up winning 2-1 (7/1) but the result would send Chelsea through to the final on the away goals rule. The Blues have long odds of 25/1 to repeat last year’s performance and come away with a 1-0 win, while a 1-1 draw is at 11/1.
Barcelona once again dominates the first goalscorer market, with Lionel Messi the favourite with odds of 11/5. If the Argentinean scores the first goal in this game, Paddy Power will refund all losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score & Scorecast singles on the match. Alexis Sanchez is next in the running at 5/1, with Cesc Fabregas priced at 11/2. Chelsea’s Didier Drogba is available at 11/1 to open the scoring again, while Fernando Torres can be found at 12/1.

El Clasico Betting Specials With Paddy Power
April 19, 2012
Barcelona v Real Madrid – Saturday, April 21st (Sky Sports 1, 7pm)
Barcelona and Real Madrid lock horns for the sixth and most important El Clasico match of the season this Saturday in a pivotal top of the table clash. League leaders Real are currently five points clear with five games remaining and a rare win at the Nou Camp will effectively win them the title. Meanwhile victory for Barcelona will draw them to within just one point of their fierce rivals and make for a compelling race for the tite. Barcelona have been installed as the odds-on 4/6 favourites, while Real can be backed at 4/1, with a draw available at 14/5. If Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo score the last goal, Paddy Power will refund all losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score & Scorecast singles on the match
Both teams will need to put their respective Champions League defeats behind them and focus on winning a valuable three points on Saturday. Real are undefeated in 18 league matches, a run that goes back to the 10th December, when Barcelona beat them 3-1 at the Bernabeu. Similarly Barca have been in excellent form, recording 11 straight league wins since their shock defeat to Osasuna back in February.
Pep Guardiola’s men have a near impeccable record at the Nou Camp this season, winning 46 points from a possible 48 so far in the league. They also hold the mental edge over Real in terms of previous meetings, having only lost once in the last 14 encounters. To make matters worse for Real they have only won one of their last 10 visits to the Nou Camp and are yet to taste victory there under manager Jose Mourinho.
All five of the meetings this season have contained at least three goals so we can expect a few more on Saturday. With home advantage Barcelona are unsurprisingly the hot favourites for the win, with a 2-1 victory priced at 13/2. A 2-0 scoreline is available at 15/2, while a 3-1 result could be the way to go at 11/1. Meanwhile, Real can be backed at14/1 to win 2-1 and also 14/1 to come away with a 1-0 win. However, a draw would be a good result for the visitors, with a 2-2 draw available at 12/1.
The match once again brings together the two best players in the world: Lionel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo. Messi has been installed as the 3/1 favourite in the first goalscorer market, while Ronaldo has been handed odds of 11/2. Elsewhere Barca’s Alexis Sanchez is also priced at 11/2, with Cesc Fàbregas and Cristian Tello at 6/1 and Pedro at 13/2. Meanwhile Real’s Gonzalo Higuaín and Karim Benzema are both at 7/1 to open the scoring.

Chelsea v Barcelona Odds – Lionel Messi Money-Back Special
April 18, 2012
Chelsea v Barcelona – Wednesday, April 18th (ITV 1, 7.45pm)
Champions League rivals Chelsea and Barcelona lock horns at Stamford Bridge tonight in what promises to be an entertaining semi-final first-leg. While Barcelona are aiming to become the first team to win back-to-back Champions League trophies, Chelsea are gunning to avenge the last-gasp Andrés Iniesta equaliser that led to their heartbreaking exit at this stage three years ago. Despite having home advantage Chelsea go into the match as the 7/2 outsiders, with Barcelona the odds-on 3/4 favourites for the win, while a draw is available at 14/5.
Since the departure of Andre Villas-Boas Chelsea have been in great form, losing once in just 12 matches. Under interim boss Robert Di Matteo they have been very impressive, exemplified by their fine 5-1 win against Tottenham in the FA Cup semi-final last Sunday. However, whether they will be able to cope with Lionel Messi and co is debatable. Pep Guardiola’s men have lost just once in their last 34 matches in all competitions and have won seven of their last eight away games on the road. They are undefeated in the Champions League this season and in the previous round they knocked-out Italian giants AC Milan.
Since their first meeting in 2000, the teams have met nine further times in the competition. Their head-to-head record could not be closer, with each side winning three matches, with the other four draws. However, this season the advantage is most definitely with Barcelona who are the hot favourites to go on to win the cup. Chelsea can be backed at 13/1 to record a 2-1 win, while Barcelona are available at 7/1 to win 2-1 or 12/1 to come away from Stamford Bridge with a 3-1 advantage.
It comes as no surprise to see the majestic Lionel Messi top the first goalscorer market with odds of 13/5 but if he scores the last goal, Paddy Power will refund all losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscroer, Correct Score & Scorecast singles on the match. The 24-year-old has scored an incredible 63 goals so far this season and is currently the top scorer in the competition with 14 goals. Next in the running is Alexis Sanchez at 6/1 and Cesc Fàbregas at 15/2. Pedro has been handed odds of 8/1 to score the opening goal, while Andrés Iniesta is available at 10/1. Chelsea’s in-form striker Didier Drogba is definitely worth a bet at 8/1, with Fernando Torres at 9/1 and Frank Lampard at 11/1.

Bayern Munich v Real Madrid Odds – Christiano Ronaldo Special
April 17, 2012
Bayern Munich v Real Madrid – Tuesday, April 17th (Sky Sports 2 , 7.45pm)
Bayern Munich welcome Real Madrid to the Allianz Arena tonight for the first-leg of their crunch Champions League semi-final. The match promises to be an enthralling encounter between two exciting teams with enviable European pedigrees. Both sides boast a multitude of superstars who thrive on occasions such as these and the match has all the ingredients to be an absolute thriller. Paddy Power have installed Bayern as the narrow 13/8 favourites to win the first-leg, while Real are available at 17/10 to take a win back to the Bernabeu, with a draw priced at 23/10.
Bayern Munich finished top of a difficult Group A qualifying group and have since brushed aside Basel in the round of 16 and Marseille in the quarter-finals, without even conceding a goal. However, their domestic league form has come unstuck in the last week following a defeat to leaders Borussia Dortmund and a disappointing goalless draw at home to Mainz, which puts them eight points off top spot with just three games remaining, meaning a 23rd Bundesliga title is now extremely unlikely. Their main focus will therefore be the Champions League and if the likes of Frank Ribery, Arjen Robben and Mario Gomez are firing on all cylinders then they will definitely be a match for their Spanish opponents.
Jose Mourinho knows that a win or score draw at the Allianz Arena will put Real in a great position come the second-leg at the Bernabeu next Wednesday. His team are currently on a stupendous run of form and are undefeated in 20 matches in all competitions. They have won nine and drawn one of their 10 Champions League matches so far and in the quarter-finals hammered Apoel Nicosia 8-2 on aggregate. They currently top La Liga, leading fierce rivals Barcelona by four points, but their supporters would love nothing more than a first Champions League trophy for 10 years.
Bayern have never lost at home to Real and have won 12 of their last 13 Champions League games at the Allianz Arena. They can be backed at 8/1 to win 2-1, while a 1-0 victory is priced at 17/2. Real can be found at 17/2 to come away with a 2-1 win, while a 2-2 draw is available at a tempting 10/1.
The match pits together two of the most lethal strikers in world football – Christiano Ronaldo and Mario Gomez. Ronaldo, who leads the first goalscorer betting at 4/1, has been in unstoppable form in La Liga this season, with an incredible 41 goals, as well as eight goals in eight Champions League appearances. If the Portuguese player scores the last goal, Paddy Power will refund all losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score & Scorecast singles on the match. Meanwhile Gomez has 11 goals in this season’s competitions and looks a good bet at 9/2 to score first.
Real simply love scoring, having fired in three or more goals in six of their last seven matches. They can score goals from all areas of the pitch, with Karim Benzema available at 13/2 and Gonzalo Higuaín at 15/2 to open the scoring. Elsewhere Kaka, Angel Di Maria and Mesut Ozil have all been priced at 11/1. Meanwhile, Bayern have Arjen Robben at 6/1, Ivica Olić at 8/1 and both Franck Ribery and Thomas Muller at 9/1 to score the game’s first goal.

Arsenal v Wigan Betting – Robin Van Persie Special
April 16, 2012
Arsenal v Wigan – Monday, April 16th (Sky Sports 1, 8pm)
Arsenal take on Wigan at the Emirates Stadium tonight in a meeting between two in-form teams. While Arsenal look to be on their way to a 3rd place finish, Wigan’s hopes of survival have recently been given a huge boost. The Gunners head into the match as the hot 2/7 favourites for the win, while Wigan can be backed at 9/1 to come away with their second shock win in just under a week, with a draw priced at 9/2. If Robin van Persie scores the last goal in this game, Paddy Power will refund all losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score & Scorecast singles on the match.
Three wins from their last four league games have moved Wigan up to 17th in the table and two points above the relegation zone. A week ago a win at the Emirates would have seemed an impossible task but after beating league leaders Man Utd on Wednesday – for the first in 14 attempts – they will head into tonight’s match with renewed optimism. However, their record against Arsenal is just as poor, with only one win in 13 Premier League meetings, although they did manage to hold Arsenal to a 2-2 draw at the DW Stadium last season.
Arsenal have been in scintillating form of late, winning nine of their last 10 league games. A sixth consecutive home league win tonight will put them eight points clear of 4th-placed Tottenham and within touching distance of the third Champions League qualification spot. Despite Wigan’s recent revival an Arsenal win should be on the cards, especially considering that Arsene Wenger’s men have won all nine home matches against their opponents.
Arsenal can be backed at 9/1 to win 3-1, while a 2-0 victory is available at 11/2. Wigan have scored in all of their last seven away matches and will be eager to score an early goal at the Emirates. The Latics are priced at 30/1 to come away with a shock 1-0 win, while a 1-1 draw can be found at 9/1. Arsenal dominate the first goalscorer odds, with Robin Van Persie the 2/1 favourite. Theo Walcott has been handed odds of 5/1, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at 13/2 and Mikel Arteta at 9/1. Wigan’s Hugo Rodallega can be backed at 12/1 to open the scoring, with Franco Di Santo and Conor Sammon both at 14/1.

They will be boosted by their last gasp win over Blackburn on Wednesday with striker Andy Carroll scoring a rare goal. However, their overall from of late has been poor and while they have lost six of their last nine league games, Everton have produced three wins from their last four and head into Saturday’s showdown in a confident mood following their impressive 4-0 win against Sunderland. QPR v Swansea Odds – Adel Taarabt anytime goal special
April 11, 2012
QPR v Swansea – Wednesday 11th April (Sky Sports 1, 8pm)
QPR and Swansea go head-to-head at Loftus Road tonight, with QPR desperate for a valuable win to boost their survival prospects and Swansea gunning for the three points to get them back in contention for a top 10 finish. Ladbrokes have priced QPR as the 23/20 favourites for the win, while Swansea have been handed odds of 5/2, with a draw available at 23/10.
QPR go into the match with a decent home record, having beaten Chelsea, Liverpool and most recently Arsenal at Loftus Road this season. They are currently above the relegation zone on goal difference meaning a win tonight will move them three points clear with five games remaining. Swansea have recently sunk down to 14th following three consecutive defeats. Brendan Rodgers will be eager to halt his side’s wobbly run snd get them back to winning ways in order to improve their chances of finishing in the top half of the table.
The teams played out a 1-1 draw at the Liberty Stadium earlier this season but QPR thumped Swansea 4-0 at Loftus Road last season. Mark Hughes’ men can be backed at 8/1 to record a 2-1 win, while a 1-0 victory is available at 13/2. Swansea have won three of their last five games on the road and they can be found at 10/1 to come away with a 2-1 win, with a 1-1 draw at 11/2. Bobby Zamora tops the first goalscorer betting with odds of 5/1, while Adel Taarabt can be backed at 6/1. Ladbrokes will refund losing first goalscorer bets in the match if the Moroccan midfielder scores at any point. Meanwhile Jay Bothroyd, Dudley Campbell and Heidar Helguson are all available at 7/1 to open the scoring. Blackburn v Liverpool Odds – Yakubu 6/1 to open scoring
April 10, 2012
Blackburn v Liverpool – Tuesday 10th April (Sky Sports 1, 8pm)
Blackburn Rovers host Liverpool at Ewood Park tonight in a clash between two out-of-form sides. While Blackburn have lost three consecutive matches, Liverpool have won just one of their last nine league games. Nonetheless it is Liverpool who have been installed as the 11/10 favourites, with Blackburn available at 5/2 and a draw priced at 12/5. If Blackburn win this game, Paddy Power will refund all losing first/last goalscorer, correct score & scorecast singles on the match.
Steve Kean’s men may have suffered three straight defeats but they will view tonight’s match against Liverpool as an excellent opportunity to get their survival hopes back on track, with a win or draw enough to lift them out of the relegation zone into 16th place. Liverpool are currently in 8th place and in real danger of finishing outside of the top 10. They don’t have the greatest record at Ewood Park having just won one of their last five visits, going down 3-1 last season, and with only pride left to play for in the league, they will definitely have more than one eye on Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final at Wembley against rivals Everton.
Rovers can be backed at 10/1 to win 2-1, while the reverse scoreline is available at 15/2. With both teams struggling for form the honours could easily be shared, with a 2-2 draw at 11/1. Luis Suarez leads the first goalscorer market with odds of 9/2, while Andy Carroll is priced at 11/2 and Craig Bellamy at 6/1. Blackburn’s Yakubu can be found at 6/1, with both David Goodwillie and Jordan Slew handed odds of 9/1 to score the opener.

April 4, 2012
Chelsea v Benfica – Wednesday 4th April (ITV1, 7:45pm)
Chelsea host Benfica at Stamford Bridge tonight looking to progress through to the semi-finals of the Champions League. Chelsea recorded a deserved 1-0 victory in Portugal last week but their progress through to the final four is by no means assured meaning they will be gunning to get off to a bright start in order to ease the nerves. Robert Di Matteo’s men are available as the 4/5 favourites to win the match and short priced at 1/8 to qualify for the next round and set up a mouthwatering match with defending champions Barcelona. Meanwhile Benfica can be backed at 9/2 to win tonight and also 9/2 to upset the odds and progress through to the semi-finals.
Chelsea will be confident of reaching the next stage having lost just one of their last nine Champions League games at Stamford Bridge, including all four home games so far this season. They have a team packed full of experienced playersand should be too strong for a Benfica side who disappointed in the first-leg. However, while the away goal was crucial, if Benfica score early on at Stamford Bridge then Chelsea will have a real game on their hands.
The Blues have been handed odds of 13/2 to beat Benfica 2-0, while another narrow 1-0 win is available at 11/2. A draw would also be enough, with a 1-1 scoreline available at 13/2. Benfica have recorded two wins on the road in the competition and also held Man Utd to a creditable 2-2 draw at Old Trafford. The Portuguese side can be backed at 11/1 to win 1-0 and take the game into extra time, while a 2-1 win is priced at 14/1.
Didier Drogba leads the first goalscorer market with odds of 9/2, while Fernando Torres is available at 5/1. Daniel Sturridge and Frank Lampard can both be found at 6/1, with Salomon Kalou at 8/1. Benfica’s Oscar Cardozo and Nolito are also both priced at 8/1 to open the scoring.
