Liverpool vs Man City – Steven Gerrard Money-Back Special

January 24, 2012

Liverpool vs Man CityWednesday 25th January (7.45pm, Sky Sports 1)

Liverpool and Man City face each other in the second-leg of their Carling Cup semi-final on Wednesday, with Liverpool holding a narrow advantage following their 1-0 win at the Etihad Stadium. Liverpool have been installed as the 8/5 favourites to win the match in 90 minutes, while City have been priced at 17/10, with a draw available at 23/10. Liverpool are also the odds-on 4/11 favourites to progress through to the Final, while City can be backed at 15/8. If Steven Gerrard scores anytime in the 90 minutes, Paddy Power will refund all losing first/last Goalscorer, Correct Score and Scorecast singles on the match.

Liverpool may be going through a mini-slump in the league but they have been excellent in both domestic cups. They are unbeaten in 12 home matches in all competitions this season and also have the cushion of a one goal advantage. However, City will be buoyed by their last gasp victory against Tottenham on Sunday and they have the fire power to get themselves back into the tie. The teams have met three times already this season, with one win each and draw. City haven’t won at Anfield since 2003 and Kenny Dalglish will be looking for the supporters to create an intimidating atmosphere. This match has the potential to go either way but if City score an early goal then expect an open and free-flowing tie.

Sergio Aguero is the 11/2 favourite to open the scoring at Anfield, while fellow strikers Mario Balotelli and Edin Dzeko have both been priced at 13/2. Liverpool have struggled for goals all season but Craig Bellamy is still well worth a punt at 13/2, with Steven Gerrard available at 7/1. Liverpool are priced at 13/2 to record another 1-0 win in 90 minutes, while City are available at 8/1 to 2-1 in 90 minutes.

Carling Cup Special – Man City v Liverpool Betting

January 10, 2012

Man City v LiverpoolWednesday 11th January (BBC1, 7.45pm)

Manchester City take on Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday in the first-leg of their Carling Cup semi-final. City may be leading the Premier League but in the last month they have been dumped out of both the Champions League and FA Cup. Their main focus is of course the league but Roberto Mancini will also be eying up this competition, which could deliver him the first trophy of the season. Meanwhile, Liverpool are without a trophy since 2006 and they will want to come away from Manchester with a good result. Man City are the 19/20 favourites with Paddy Power to win the first-leg, while Liverpool can be backed at 3/1, with a draw available at 12/5. If there is a Red Card in this match, Paddy Power will refund all losing first/last goalscorer, correct score & scorecast singles on the game.

All eyes will be on Man City to see if they can bounce back from their FA Cup defeat to fierce rivals Man Utd. City beat Liverpool 3-0 in the league last week and they will be looking for a repeat performance on Wednesday. Liverpool started the match strongly but, as so often has been the case this season, failed to convert any of their chances. However, they have managed to score at least two goals in all their Carling Cup fixtures so far. City are priced at 18/1 to win 3-0 again, 15/2 to win 2-0 and 7/1 to win 2-1. Liverpool would no doubt take a 1-1 draw at 11/1 or they may even be worth a punt at 16/1 to come away with a 2-1 win.

Sergio Aguero was in cracking form against Man Utd and he once again can be found as the favourite to open the scoring, with odds of 9/2. Edin Dzeko has been handed odds of 5/1 to score first, while Mario Balotellis is available at 11/2. With Luis Suarez suspended Liverpool will now have to rely heavily on Andy Carroll and Craig Bellamy, who can both be backed at 8/1 to be the first goalscorer. Meanwhile, Steven Gerrard is available at 10/1.

Man Utd vs Crystal Palace Betting – Goalscorer Money Back Special

November 30, 2011

Manchester United host Crystal Palace in the quarter-finals of the Carling Cup tonight with the match live on Sky Sports 1 at 19.45pm. United are the overwhelming 2/9 favourites, while Crystal Palace have been handed odds of 12/1 to dish out a cup upset at Old Trafford. Ladbrokes will refund your losing first goalscorer bets in this Carling Cup clash if your selection scores later in the game.

Tonight’s match will be the sixth League Cup meeting between the sides, with Palace failing to win any of the previous five encounters. They have not won at Old Trafford since way back in 1989 and the last time the sides met they were thumped 5-2. United have won this competition four times, with their most recent title coming in 2010. By even fielding a reserve team United should simply be too strong for a struggling Palace and if they hit the back of the net early on then it could easily be a case of how many. Fergie’s men look good at 6/1 to win 3-0 or even 16/1 to record a comprehensive 4-1 win. Meanwhile, an out-of-luck Palace side can be backed at 20/1 to shock United 1-0. Palace will no doubt look to draw inspiration from Coventry who, in 2007, were the last Championship side to knock United out of the competition.

Unsurprisingly the First Goalscorer odds are dominated by Man Utd players, with strikers Javier Hernandez and Wayne Rooney the joint favourites at 2/1. However, with Fergie likely to rest his top players, Dimitar Berbatov and Danny Welbeck could both be worth a punt at 5/2, while Ryan Giggs is priced at 7/1 to open the scoring. Exciting youngsters Paul Pogba and Ravel Morrison could be given the opportunity to shine and are both priced at 8/1 to score the first goal of the night. Palace have found goals hard to come by in recent weeks having failed to score in any of their last five games. Chris Martin, Wilfred Zaha, Sean Scannell, Glenn Murray all priced at 12/1 for the away side

Carling Cup Money Back Penalty Special With Ladbrokes

November 28, 2011

The Carling Cup returns to our screens on Tuesday with three crunch clashes. Two of which are enticing all-Premier League affairs while the third pits together an in-form Championship side against an out-of-form Premier League team. Ladbrokes are offering a money-back special where if the team you back goes through on penalties, they will refund your losing match bets. The offer applies to both the Liverpool vs Chelsea and Arsenal vs Manchester City games.

Arsenal v Man City

The Premier League leaders Manchester City travel to The Emirates to play Arsenal in what promises to be a cracking cup tie. Arsenal have recovered from their slow start to the season by leaping up to 7th in the league, qualifying for the knock-out stage of the Champions League and impressively reaching the quarter finals of the Carling Cup for a record-breaking ninth successive season. After winning the FA Cup last season Man City will be desperate to get their hands on more trophies and with the abundance of high quality players in their star-studded squad they are rightly one of the favourites. Roberto Mancini’s men are priced at 11/8 to come away with the win, while Arsenal are available at 2/1, with a draw at 9/4. The in-form Robin Van Persie is the 7/2 favourite to open the scoring, while Sergio Aguero can be backed at 4/1 and Edin Dzeko at 5/1.

Chelsea v Liverpool

Both managers will be keen to win the competition as they go in search of their first trophy since moving to their respective clubs. Chelsea and Liverpool have played each other four times in the League Cup, with two wins each, and judging by the recent league match between the sides this could well be another close encounter. Liverpool came out on top at Stamford Bridge on that occasion and have won their past three matches against the Blues, however, it is Chelsea who are the odds-on 4/5 favourites for the match. Liverpool can be backed at a very tempting 7/2, while a draw is available at 5/2. Fernando Torres cannot get in the Chelsea starting line-up for love nor money at the moment but the Carling Cup could give him the opportunity to prove himself to boss Andre Villas-Boas. Alongside Didier Drogba the Spaniard is the 4/1 favourite to open the scoring against his former club, while Luis Suarez is priced at 6/1 to get the game’s first goal.

Cardiff v Blackburn

The third match of the night sees Championship high-flyers Cardiff City take on Premier League strugglers Blackburn Rovers at the Cardiff City Stadium. The competition has been a welcome distraction for Rovers and they will be determined to reach the semi-finals for the second time in three years. Ladbrokes have Cardiff as the 7/5 favourites, while Steve Kean’s men can be backed at 15/8, with a draw priced at 23/10.

October 25, 2011

The likes of Chelsea, the Manchester clubs, Liverpool and Arsenal are still in the competition and the bookmakers Bet365 are offering a money-back special whereby if you place a pre-match Correct Score, Half-time/Full-time or Scorecast Bet on any match and it finishes 0-0 then they will refund all losing Bets on those markets.

Four-time League Cup winners Manchester United travel to League Two Aldershot Town in Tuesday night’s televised game on Sky Sports 2. Danny Welbeck and Wayne Rooney are both available at 9/4 to open the scoring, while a 3-0 United win looks good value at 6/1.

Arsenal are also in action on Tuesday night at home to Bolton. After reaching the final last season The Gunners will be determined to go one step better and get their hands on the trophy this time round. Arsene Wenger’s men have been handed odds of 8/1 to win the cup and 8/5 to beat Bolton, with The Trotters priced at 9/2. Carling Cup Third Round Betting – Bet365 Money-Back Special

September 19, 2011

The Carling Cup Third Round is already upon us as the remaining Premier League teams decide its time to join the party. Bet365 are offering a great money-back special whereby if you place a pre-match Correct Score, Half-time/Full-time or Scorecast Bet on any match and it finishes 0-0 then they will refund all losing Bets on those markets.

The tie of the round comes at Elland Road where Championship side Leeds face their old rivals Manchester United in what promises to be a cracking game. They may not be in the same league but the rivalry is still as hot as ever and Leeds fans would love nothing more than to inflict United’s first defeat of the season. Sir Alex Ferguson will be weary of leaving out too many of his most prized possessions as he will vividly recall United’s shock FA Cup Third Round defeat to Leeds in 2010. Man Utd are the 1/2 favourites to win the match, while Leeds are priced at 5/1, with a draw available at 10/3.

Elsewhere Championship high-flyers Brighton host Liverpool at the Falmer Stadium. Brighton may have suffered their first defeat of the season on Saturday but the thought of beating Liverpool will motivate the players to bounce back in style, whereas Kenny Dalglish will consider the League Cup a priority as he aims to win his first trophy with the club since his return earlier this year. Liverpool are the odds on 4/6 favourites to come away with the win, while Brighton are 4/1 for an upset, with a draw at 11/4.

Man Utd and Man City remain the 5/1 favourites to win the 2011/12 Carling Cup, with Chelsea priced at 11/2. Liverpool can be found with odds of 13/2, while Arsenal are available at 9/1 and Tottenham at 12/1. Last year’s winners Birmingham are huge outsiders at 150/1.

The Carling Cup returns this week as the competition enters the Second Round. The majority of the Premier League teams enter at this stage which spices up the betting market as there is always the chance of an upset or two. If you place a pre-match Correct Score, Half-time/Full-time or Scorecast Bet on any match and it finishes 0-0 then Bet365 will refund all losing Bets on those markets.

The pick of the games comes at St James Park where League One outfit Exeter City take on Premier League giants Liverpool. Kenny Dalglish has been a breath of fresh air since his return to Merseyside and that has been reflected in the club’s bright start to the season. Liverpool supporters crave trophies and Dalglish will no doubt take this competition seriously. The Carling Cup will come as a welcome break for Exeter after a miserable start to the season which has seen them pick up just a single point from their four league games. Despite this, they are not to be underestimated, as Manchester United found out in 2005 when they were held to a goalless draw at Old Trafford in the FA Cup. The Grecians fans will be up for it and there will is sure to be a cracking cup atmosphere. Liverpool are the overwhelming 2/5 favourites with Bet365, with Exeter priced at 7/1 for a shock win, while a draw is available at 7/2. At 9/1 to win the Carling Cup Liverpool are well worth a punt.

Bet365 have installed Chelsea as the 11/2 favourites, with Man City and Man Utd available at 6/1. With the big guns (Liverpool aside) not entering until the Third Round this gives other clubs an ideal opportunity to make their mark in the competition. With odds of 22/1 to win Aston Villa look like a good bet. Villa made the Final in 2010  and will be hoping to go one better this time round. Alex McLeish’s side have been handed a kind draw at home to Hereford who shouldn’t pose them too many problems. Everton have been handed odds of 16/1 but will have to negotiate their way past Sheffield United in a potentially tricky Second Round match.

Carling Cup Outright Odds

  • 11/2 – Chelsea
  • 6/1 – Man City
  • 6/1 – Man Utd
  • 9/1 – Liverpool
  • 9/1 – Arsenal

Arsenal Betting Specials With William Hill

August 4, 2011

As the start of the 2011/12 season edges ever closer there are still a large number of unanswered questions concerning Arsenal; Will Cesc Fabregas stay or go? Will Samir Nasri depart? Can The Gunners finally win a trophy this year? Could Arsene Wenger be sacked this season? Numerous key issues and matters are still unresolved at the Emirates stadium, which is having a negative effect on the club’s preparation for the upcoming season.

Arsene Wenger will be under some serious pressure this year, something he is rapidly growing accustomed to following his side’s trophy drought. His previously concrete job as Arsenal manager will come under scrutiny this season if Arsenal fail to win a trophy for what would be the seventh consecutive season. Despite having a hugely talented, young squad, Arsenal evidently lack the experience and mental toughness to close out games, which cost them dear last season. In order to erase those bitter memories Wenger needs to invest in some high quality players while doing everything he can to hold onto his most valuable assets.

Two Arsenal players who are currently the centre of a transfer storm are captain Cesc Fabregas and their best player last season Samir Nasri. Arsenal fans will have everything crossed in the hope that these two stars will stay at the Emirates for at least another year. Fabregas is once again being heavily linked with Barcelona, but for the time being has remained stum over his future. The 24-year-old has extremely short odds of just 1/4 with William Hill to not be with the club after the transfer window, whilst the odds are 9/4 that he will stay. Nasri’s future is also up in the air and William Hill have installed Manchester City as the 8/13 odds-on favourites to get the talented Frenchman, with Man Utd available at 6/5 and Chelsea 8/1.

All Arsenal fans crave a bit of silverware, it doesn’t matter what shape or size, any will do at the moment. They came agonisingly close to winning the Carling Cup last season but choked in the final minute to gift Birmingham the trophy. Arsenal are currently 8/1 with William Hill to go one step better this year and win that trophy, while they are priced at 9/1 to win the FA Cup and 10/1 to win the Premier League for the first time since 2004. For Multiple Trophy odds see below.

Arsenal Trophy Multiples:

  • 1/6 – No Trophies
  • 50/1 – Premier League/Carling Cup
  • 50/1 – Premier League/FA Cup
  • 50/1 – FA Cup/Carling Cup
  • 100/1 – FA Cup/Champions League
  • 100/1 – Carling Cup/Champions League
  • 100/1 – Premier League/Champions League
  • 500/1 – Premier League/FA Cup/Carling Cup
  • 750/1 – FA Cup/Carling Cup/Champions League
  • 750/1 – Premier League/Carling Cup/Champions League
  • 750/1 – Premier League/FA Cup/Champions League
  • 1500/1 – Premier League/FA Cup/Carling Cup/Champions League

Chelsea and Andre Villas-Boas Specials with Paddy Power

June 23, 2011

Ever since Chelsea ruthlessly axed Carlo Ancelotti in the aftermath of their final game of the 2010/11 season there has been a media frenzy concerning the identity of their new manager. With Guus Hiddink the obvious favourite since betting commenced, it came as a surprise earlier this week when Andre Villas-Boas’s name was re-entered into the ballot. Yesterday Chelsea put an end to heavy speculation by appointing the 33-year-old as Ancelotti’s replacement, and as a result Paddy Power have an array of cracking Chelsea and Villas-Boas betting specials for the 2011/12 season, in what promises to be yet another entertaining year at Stamford Bridge.

After what happened to Ancelotti at the end of the previous campaign, following his failure to win any silverware, there will be heaps of pressure on Villas-Boas to win at least one trophy this season – for which he has odds of evens. The former Porto boss has already displayed his confidence by stating that he is targeting the quadruple in his very first season in change, a bold and perhaps erratic statement that he will surely regret come May…providing he lasts that long. As we know football is an unpredictable game and virtually anything can happen in the next 12 months…for instance can Chelsea do the unthinkable and win the Premier League, Champions League, Carling Cup and FA Cup at odds of 350/1? Unlikely but possible.

As the whole of the football world is aware, Roman Abramovich is absolutely obsessed with winning the Champions League, which is something that has so far eluded six different managers during the Russian’s time at the club. Paddy Power currently have Villas-Boas at 2/1 to win the lucrative European competition in his first season with the club. If the ambitious amongst you are feeling particularly inspired by his appointment then you can back Chelsea to match the famous Manchester United treble winning season of 1998/99 by placing a bet on the Blues to win the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup this upcoming season at odds of 100/1.

There has already been much talk on which team will inflict the first league defeat of the Villas Boas reign. The Portuguese manager has been dealt a potentially tricky first game away to Stoke City, and the Potters may be a good bet at 7/2 to deliver that first defeat on Chelsea’s new boss. In their following three games West Brom, Norwich and Sunderland are unlikely to pose too many problems but then on 17th September Chelsea have a crunch match with Manchester United at Old Trafford, which will be huge indicator of how they are progressing under their new boss.

Arsenal favourites to lift the Carling Cup this season

February 22, 2011

Arsenal make their first trip to Wembley this season as they face Birmingham City in the final of the Carling Cup. Both teams are also in with a chance of a return to Wembley later in the year as they are both still featuring in the FA Cup. Arsenal are the clear favourite out of the two teams to win the fixture at odds of 2/9 to lift the Carling Cup Trophy. Should you fancy Arsenal to go on and do the double and win the Premier League they are currently at odds of 11/4 but if you think that is too much buy that they can lift both trophies this season (FA Cup and Carling Cup) they are odds of 5/1.

Last season Birmingham only managed to get to the third round of the tournament before they were defeated 2-0 by Sunderland and Arsenal reached the fifth round before they were knocked out by a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City.
