England Face Tough Task To Win ODI Series Against Sri Lanka
July 5, 2011
Alastair Cook faces his first major test as captain after Sri Lanka crushed England for the second time in succession on Sunday by winning the third ODI by six wickets, to leave the hosts trailing 2-1 in the series. As a result the visitors are now the 1/3 favourites to win the series, while England are available at 9/4. Cook will now have to inspire his troops – who will no doubt still be reeling from their defeat – as a win on Wednesday at Trent Bridge is now a must if England are to recover and win the series.
Captain Cook led by example in Sunday’s match at Lord’s with a solid 119 runs off 143 balls. It’s just a shame that his team didn’t follow his lead. The match did much to highlight England’s frailties with the bat and their lack of impact players who can come on and win matches with a burst of rapid runs. Craig Kieswetter, Jonathan Trott and Eoin Morgan were out for a dismal 2, 3 and 4 respectively, and if it wasn’t for the 41 runs by Kevin Pietersen then England would have been utterly humiliated.
If England are to have any hope of reigniting their series then it is crucial that their batsman start performing at the same time. It is no use if one batsman has a successday day at the crease if all the others are struggling to reach double figures. Victor Chandler have Cook at 7/2 to finish the fourth series as England’s Top Batsman, while Trott and Pietersen are both available at 4/1, with Kieswetter at 5/1 and Morgan at 6/1. Similarly England’s bowlers must up the ante as they have been made to look distinctively average by Sri Lanka’s batsman in the last two ODI.
Despite their recent back-to-back defeats England are still the favourites to come away with a win on Wednesday, with short odds of 8/11 with Victor Chandler, with Sri Lanka are available at evens.

England Outright Favourites To Win ODI Series Against Sri Lanka
June 29, 2011
England’s new ODI captain Alastair Cook got off to a perfect start in his official first game in charge as England thrashed Sri Lanka by 110 runs in a rain-affected match at The Oval. Jimmy Anderson was the hero for the hosts as he recorded an impressive total of 4-18 as he tore apart the Sri Lanka batsmen. Graeme Swann was also on form as he ended the day with figures of 3-18. However, Cook himself disappointed with the bat as he was sent back to the dressing room early on with a score of just five, something he will be desperate to improve on in the next match. England are now short 1/3 favourites with Bet365 to win the series after their explosive victory on Tuesday, where as Sri Lanka are available at 12/5 to come away victorious.
England now have four remaining ODI matches against Sri Lanka this summer, with the next one taking place on Friday 1st July at Headingley Carnegie at 10.45am. Bet365 have made the hosts the clear 8/13 favourites to win the second match, with Sri Lanka priced at 13/10. Kevin Pietersen and Jonathan Trott are both available at 7/2 to finish the match as England’s Top Batsman, while Craig Kieswetter, who scored an impressive 61 on his return to the team in the previous match, looks good value at 9/2. Spinner Graeme Swann and the hero of the first match Jimmy Anderson can both be found with odds of 3/1 to finish the second match as England’s Top Bowler, with England’s new twenty20 captain Stuart Broad available at 4/1.
Following their first match win England can be found at 6/1 to demolish Sri Lanka 5-0 in the ODI series, while the visitors have long odds of 16/1 to spark a remarkable recovery and come back to win 4-1. See below for more series odds.

Twenty20 Cricket – England v Sri Lanka Betting
June 21, 2011
England’s Twenty20 squad kick off their new era under skipper Stuart Broad on Saturday when they face Sri Lanka in Bristol. The team will be looking to build on their rain-affected test series win over Sri Lanka with an impressive showing at the County Cricket Ground, and Sky Bet have installed the hosts as 8/11 favourites to win the match, with Sri Lanka priced at 11/10.
If, as expected, Broad recovers from a heel injury he picked up in the third and final Test against Sri Lanka at the Rose Bowl, he will be eager to get his team off to a flying start in his first game in charge since his appointment as captain. The 24-year-old was handed the role after England decided to rather harshly axe their World Cup winning twenty20 skipper Paul Collingwood last month.
The match will give England’s fresh, young squad some valuable experience as they build towards the ICC Twenty20 World Cup in Sri Lanka next year. The all-rounder Samit Patel returns to the squad from the wilderness, where as the explosive opening batsman/wicket-keeper Craig Kieswetter has been given an opportunity to shine.
England Twenty20 Squad v Sri Lanka:
Stuart Broad (captain), Ian Bell, Ravi Bopara, Jade Dernbach, Steven Finn, Craig Kieswetter, Michael Lumb, Eoin Morgan, Samit Patel, Kevin Pietersen, Graeme Swann, Chris Woakes, Luke Wright.
Jonathan Trott 4/1 to score a century against Sri Lanka
June 2, 2011
After their staggering comeback in Cardiff, England are now odds-on favourites to wrap up the series win a win against Sri Lanka at Lords in the second Test on Friday 3rd June. England faced an uphill task in a heavily rain-affected first Test after Sri Lanka posted a first innings score of 400. However, a double century from Jonathan Trott and centuries from Alastiar Cook and Ian Bell took England to an impressive tally of 496, after which they declared. England, without the injured Jimmy Anderson, displayed a bowling masterclass at the end of the final days play as they sensationally got the visitors all out for 82.
As a result of this extraordinary victory in the first Test, England are 8/13 favourites with Coral to take an unassailable 2-0 series lead against Sri Lanka in the second Test at Lords. The bookmakers have Sri Lanka available at 13/2 to level the series, with the draw priced at 2/1.
England’s player of the year, Jonathan Trott, is available at 4/1 to score a century in the first innings. Trott carried his terrific Ashes form into the first test against Sri Lanka, scoring a massive 203 runs, and continuing his impressive partnership with Alastair Cook, who himself reached 133. Ian Bell was also in good form in Cardiff, notching 103 not out. However, Kevin Pietersen was once again disappointing as he recorded a pitiful score of 3 as he was out for lbw.

Morgan 7/1 To Finish As England Top Batsman
May 23, 2011
The heroic England test team return to our screens for the first time since their historic Ashes win last Christmas. In a largely unchanged side, Andy Flowers has chosen to bring in the exciting young batsman Eoin Morgan for England’s openng test match against Sri Lanka in Cardiff on Thursday 26th May. Ladbrokes have Morgan available at good odds of 7/1 to finish as England’s Top Series Run Scorer as England look to justify their status as 4/9 favourites to win the series.
The opening match provides Morgan with an ideal opportunity to cement his place as an England regular after he failed to make an appearance during the Ashes. Morgan has been in fine form for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2011 IPL and will be looking to take his performances into Thursday’s match. Another batsman desperate to make an impression is Kevin Pietersen, who has been out of action since leaving Australia with a back injury. The charismatic 30-year-old is 4/1 with Ladbrokes to finish as England’s Top Series Run Scorer.
Jimmy Anderson will lead the bowling attack, and is priced at 9/4 with Ladbrokes to finish the series as England’s Top Wicket-Taker, while Graeme Swann is available at 2/1 the new national Twenty20 captain, Stuart Broad, is at 4/1.

IPL Betting 2011 Point Towards Mumbai Indians and Tendulkar
April 6, 2011
The dust has only just settled on the ICC Cricket World Cup but already we move on and this weekend sees the return of the Indian Premier League with some of the bets players in the world heading back to the sub-continent for the T20 six-hitting feast. Cricket in India is of course on a high at the moment following their success in the 50-over World Cup and many of the stars of that triumphant team will be on display again over the next six weeks across the country which is sure to see the grounds packed to the rafters. The team to watch this year according to the bookies is the Mumbai Indians who have been made the 5/1 favourites with VC Bet to win the trophy for the very first time having finished as runners-up to the Chennai Super Kings last season.
The star of the Mumbai Indians is the Little Master Sachin Tendulkar who despite his age is in the form of his life and will be the player that all the other teams fear in the IPL. There is no surprise to see Tendulkar at the head of the Top IPL Runscorer odds and he can be backed at 12/1 to do just that ahead of fellow World Cup winner Virendher Sehwag who will be playing for the Delhi Daredevils once again. It certainly appears that Mumbai are the team to beat but they will have to overcome Chennai who with MS Dhoni leading them will be looking to defend their title, and that is reflected in their price of 6/1 with Victor Chandler to reclaim the IPL.
It is also worth noting that there are two new teams in the IPL this season and they are the Kochi Tuskers Kerala and the Pune Warriors who should add a new dimension to the fourth edition of the T20 IPL. Of the two new teams it is expected that the Pune Warriors should fare the better with Graeme Smith and Yuvraj Singh the star names for them, anyone wanting to back Pune to go all the way in their debut season can get a price of 8/1 with VC Bet for them to do just that.

England Facing Tough Cricket World Cup Task Against Sri Lanka
March 25, 2011
England have been the stars of the Cricket World Cup so far with every match they have played going down to the wire, punters will remember they are the team that have already lost to minnows Ireland and Bangladesh as well as beating tournament favourites South Africa. With that in mind this weekends Quarter Final against Sri Lanka could well be another nail biter and Stan James are offering up some fascinating special markets for the match in Colombo with Andrew Strauss and his men facing an uphill task according to the latest betting.
Sri Lanka are as short as 1/2 to win with Stan James but there is some good value for punters in some more exciting betting markets. Jonathan Trott and Kumar Sangakarra have been in the runs all tournament and both are still in with a shout of claiming the top run scorer crown, and Stan James are offering a match bet between the two for the match on Saturday. Trott and Sangakarra can each be backed at 5/6 with Stan James and that is based on which of the two will score more runs in the match, Sangakarra has to be the more likely in this one with home crowd on his back.
Stan James also offer a fantastic Best Economy Market with punters looking to find the bowler who will concede the fewest runs, and there is no surprise to see the great Muttiah Muralitharan at the end of this one and he is priced at 7/2. The England alternative to Murali is of course Graeme Swann and he tends to keep things tight during his ten overs, making his price of 4/1 to be the most economical bowler an attractive one for punters.
