Floyd Mayweather 6/4 to Fight Manny Pacquaio In 2012 Boxing Betting
January 6, 2012
Last year was a terrific one for boxing but 2012 promises to be even better with a number of potentially mouthwatering fights on the horizon for fight fans and punters. The fight everyone wants to see is of course the clash between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquaio which has been on the cards for years now as the pair squabble over the right to be called the best fighter on the planet. The bookmakers are still taking bets on whether the fight will happen and Coral rate the bout as a 6/4 chance during 2012 and it would be a clash to saviour.
British fans and and punters also have plenty to look forward to with plenty of rumours surrounding the likes of David Haye and Amir Khan in particular who both lost their World Championships in 2011. Haye famously retired in October having lost to Wladimir Klitschko but speculations continues to swirl around he will make a return to the ring in 2012 to face older brother Vitali. Patriotic British fight fans can get a price of 33/1 about the Hayemaker fighting and beating both Klitschko brothers at some point during 2012 which looks like a massive ask given the form of the Ukrainian Champions.
Amir Khan controversially lost his World titles in December to Lamont Petersen but he could still be set for a big year in 2012 with a potential bout with Floyd Mayweather not beyond the realms of possibility. Punters wanting to back Khan to fight Mayweather this year can get a price of 12/1 with Coral about that happening although it should be noted that the American is due to start a 90 day jail term any day now. There are some fascinating potential fights on the horizon both in the UK and abroad with the established stars looking to regain their World titles while the younger fighters will be looking to make a name for themselves in 2012.

2012 Golf Betting Specials Point Towards More European Success
January 5, 2012
At the moment European golf is going through something of a boom and the bookmakers are predicting more success for them in 2012 as we look ahead to what will be a massive year for the sport. In 2011 we saw Major wins for the likes of Darren Clarke and Rory McIlroy while there was unprecedented success for Luke Donald on both sides of the Atlantic as he climbed to the top of the world rankings for the first time. Those three and plenty of others will be hoping to continue their good form in 2012 and Coral have produced some interesting 2012 golf markets for punters to sink their teeth into.
European players are currently dominating the world rankings and they will feature heavily in all four Majors this season, starting with the Masters at Augusta in April. 2011 saw European golfers win two of the four Majors but punters wanting to back Europeans to win all four in 2012 can get a price of 14/1 with Coral which might seem a little short but is certainly not beyond the realms of possibility. Following on from that, golf punters always love to keep their eye out for a hole-in-one and 20/1 is available from Coral for anyone wanting to back the chances of their being an ace in all four 2012 Majors.
It must be remembered of course that 2012 is a Ryder Cup year for the sport and the European team will be heading across the pond to Chicago to face an American looking for revenge after their tight loss in 2010. Coral are offering a price of 5/2 about player in either team scoring a maximum five out of five points at Medinah in September. That will require a player to play five matches in three days and be successful in each one which would set their team on the way to glory in what of the key sporting events of any calendar year.
2012 Golf Betting Specials with Coral
- 5/2 – Any player to score five points in the 2012 Ryder Cup
- 11/2 – English player to win the Open Championship
- 9/1 – Any player to win the Race To Dubai and the US Money List in 2012

Jonathan Trott 4/1 to score a century against Sri Lanka
June 2, 2011
After their staggering comeback in Cardiff, England are now odds-on favourites to wrap up the series win a win against Sri Lanka at Lords in the second Test on Friday 3rd June. England faced an uphill task in a heavily rain-affected first Test after Sri Lanka posted a first innings score of 400. However, a double century from Jonathan Trott and centuries from Alastiar Cook and Ian Bell took England to an impressive tally of 496, after which they declared. England, without the injured Jimmy Anderson, displayed a bowling masterclass at the end of the final days play as they sensationally got the visitors all out for 82.
As a result of this extraordinary victory in the first Test, England are 8/13 favourites with Coral to take an unassailable 2-0 series lead against Sri Lanka in the second Test at Lords. The bookmakers have Sri Lanka available at 13/2 to level the series, with the draw priced at 2/1.
England’s player of the year, Jonathan Trott, is available at 4/1 to score a century in the first innings. Trott carried his terrific Ashes form into the first test against Sri Lanka, scoring a massive 203 runs, and continuing his impressive partnership with Alastair Cook, who himself reached 133. Ian Bell was also in good form in Cardiff, notching 103 not out. However, Kevin Pietersen was once again disappointing as he recorded a pitiful score of 3 as he was out for lbw.

French Open Betting Specials – Nadal Favourite To Win
May 20, 2011
The 2011 French Open catapults into life on Sunday 22nd May as the best players in the world compete for the chance to be crowned the King of Clay. The bookmakers Coral have some fantastic specials to wet your appetite ahead of the second Grand Slam of the year.
After a sensation run of form Novak Djokovic has had his odds slashed to just 6/5, yet he still finds himself behind the 11/10 heavy favourite Rafael Nadal, a five-time winner at Roland Garros. With both men on fine form, and with Andy Murray showing huge signs of progress on the surface and Roger Federer always a threat, you can place a bet with Coral that the top 4 men’s seeds will all progress through to the semi-finals at a tempting 5/1.
Nadal and Djokovic have clashed in the final of the two recent ATP Masters Series tour events (Madrid and Rome) in the build up to the French Open, with Djokovic surprisingly coming out on top in both encounters. It would come as no surprise if both men were to meet again in the final at Roland Garros, but the real question is whether either tennis superstar can win the Grand Slam without dropping a set. Nadal is available at 6/1 to achieve this feat whilst Djokovic is priced at 7/1.
At 14/1 to win the tournament Andy Murray well may be worth a punt. The Scot has recently put his miserable run of form since the Australian Open behind him by reaching the semi-finals in both Monte Carlo and Rome. The determined 24-year-old is a confident mood ahead of the French Open and has been handed a relatively easy draw that will more than boost his chances of success. Despite his slight dip in form Roger Federer too is most certainly worth a gamble at 14/1.
Elsewhere David Ferrer, who was runner-up to Rafael Nadal in both Monte Carlo and Barcelona is good value at 33/1, whilst Juan Martin Del Potro is 25/1 and Robin Söderling 40/1.
French Open Men’s Outright Odds
- Rafael Nadal – 11/10
- Novak Djokovic – 6/5
- Andy Murray – 14/1
- Roger Federer – 14/1
- Juan Martin Del Potro – 25/1
- David Ferrer – 33/1
- Robin Söderling – 40/1
- Thomaz Bellucci – 66/1
- Fernando Verdasco – 80/1
- Nicolas Almagro – 80/1
- Richard Gasquet – 80/1
- Tomas Berdych – 100/1
Specials
- 5/1 – Top 4 Men’s Seeds All to Make the Semi Finals
- 6/1 – Nadal NOT to drop a Set in the Men’s Singles
- 7/1 – Djokovic NOT to drop a Set in the Men’s Singles
- 5/6 – Nadal to meet Djokovic in the French Open Men’s Final
- 5/6 – Nadal and Djokovic NOT to meet in the French Open Men’s Final

Twice Over can land 2011 Dubai World Cup
March 25, 2011
With a couple of really competitive National Hunt meetings at Stratford and Newbury and two AW meetings at Kempton and Lingfield, racing fans will have plenty of options this weekend. However the feature meeting is without doubt the Dubai World Cup at Meydan, which will see the Henry Cecil trained multiple group one winner, Twice Over make his attempt to win the world’s richest horse race. The card at Meydan is a cracker and will feature plenty of British and Irish interest, including a few rare Dubai entries from the Aidan O’Brien stable.
Meydan 1.15 – Al Quoz Sprint 5f
The meeting gets underway with a Group two sprint which should see the warm order favourite JJ The Jet Plane take the top prize. The seven year old looked back to his best a fortnight ago when winning the Finest Surprise Handicap over six furlongs on the turf on this track. Although his best performances have come over six furlongs, the five furlongs in this should not trouble him. Each way interests could be applied to both Inxile from the Dandy Nicholls yard and Triple Aspect who is trained by William Haggas and will be the mount of Ryan Moore.
Selection: JJ The Jet Plane @ 2/1 with Paddy Power or Ladbrokes
Meydan 1.50 – Godolphin Mile 1m
This could be a very competitive Group Two where the Barry Hills trained Red Jazz will likely go off as the favourite. He is the highest rated horse in the race but he has not won over this trip in the past, nor has he been on a Tapeta surface. One who has however is the Godolphin trained Skysurfers, who won over course and trip a month ago when taking the Listed Firebreak Stakes. That run will have put him spot on as Godolphin look to claim the race named after them.
Selection: Skysurfers @ 5/1 with Victor Chandler
Meydan 2.25 – UAE Derby 1m 1f
The third Group Two of the afternoon should see the Godolphin pair of Khawlah and Xin Xu Lin go off as the top two in the market, however this is a very open looking race, where strong challenges can be expected from the Mike De Kock trained Mahbooba, winner of the UAE 1000 Guineas a few weeks ago and who finished second behind Khawlah in the UAE Oaks on 24th February. There is also two entries from Ballydoyle, Alexander Pope and Master Of Hounds, the latter being the highest rated horse in the race.
Selection: Khawlah @ 4/1 with Bet365
Meydan 3.05 – Golden Shaheen 6f
The first Group One race of the afternoon should produce a cracking contest and which could see Kinsale King take the race for the second successive year for Carl O’Callaghan. However the favourite will be Rocket Man, who was second behind Kinsale King 12 months ago and who has never finished outside of the first two in any of his 17 starts.
Selection: Rocket Man @ 7/4 with Coral
Meydan 3.45 – The Dubai Duty Free 1m1f
With Wigmore Hall representing the Michael Bell stable and Presvis trained by Luca Cumani looking likely to dispute favouritism, this Group One could be a very close affair, particularly as there are several others all in with big chances. Mendip from the Saeed Bin Suroor stable has won twice at Group Three level during the 2011 Dubai Carnival and is in top form, whilst Bankable won a Group Three over six furlongs as a warm up for his attempt to claim this race after finishing second last year.
Selection: Mendip @ 8/1 with Boylesports of Victor Chandler
Meydan 4.50 – Sheema Classic 1m4f
The penultimate race of the afternoon could see the 2010 Epsom Derby third, Rewilding, claim his biggest prize to date. Trained by Mahmood Al Zarooni for Godolphin, this four year old is certainly one of major the class horse’s in the race and will go off favourite, but punters should follow the market with regard to the support for the Japanese entry, Rulership, a Group Two winner in Japan and the Brian Meehan trained Dangerous Midge, winner of the Breeders Cup Turf back in November. There has also been market support for the Barry Hills trained Redwood.
Selection: Dangerous Midge @ 5/1 with Bet365 or Paddy Power
Meydan 5.35 – Dubai World Cup
The richest race in the world should see a huge effort by the Henry Cecil trained Twice Over to take the race and justify the place at the top of the Dubai World Cup odds and in doing so, get the Cecil yard off to the perfect start as the new flat season looms. Winner of the Round 3 of the Al Maktoum Challenge a couple of weeks ago, the 6 year old is said to be in top form and raring to go. He has been heavily backed and is now as short as 5/2 and will go off as a very warm order favourite. There has also been support for the Aidan ‘Brien trained Cape Blanco, winner of the 2010 Irish Derby, but who has only just arrived in Dubai and who has not been seen on track since finishing down the field in the 2010 Arc de Triomphe. Big runs can also be expected from Gio Ponti, Poets Voice and the Japanese entry Victoire Pisa.
Selection: Twice Over @ 11/4 with Coral
Kauto Star Odds on to win fourth King George VI Chase
December 22, 2009
All eyes will be on Kempton Park Racecourse on Boxing Day (Saturday 26th December) as the odds on favourite, Kauto Star, aims to win the King George VI Chase for a record fourth consecutive time. Only the great Desert Orchid won the race on four occasions but only managed three back-to-back, a feat achieved by Kauto Star last year and a win in the 2009 renewal of the race would firmly establish the Paul Nicholls trained nine year old as contender for the greatest steeple chaser of all time and when you consider that two of Desert Orchid’s four triumphs in the race came aged 10 and 11, it only adds to the excitement surrounding the two times Cheltenham Gold Cup winner.
Coral are the bookmaker offering the biggest price about Kauto Star with a quote of 8/13, which goes some way to reflecting his chances of victory but it’s a price that, whilst likely return a profit, is only attractive to big hitting punters! However, it is very difficult to advise backing against Kauto Star, with all rivals seemingly having plenty to find.

Imperial Commander is the 5/1 second favourite behind Kauto Star following his second to the King George favourite, beaten only by a nose, in the Betfair Chase at Haydock last month. However, it is expected that Kauto Star will improve following that first run of the season and when you consider the distance between the two in this race last year was 76 lengths, it is hard to see the Nigel Twiston-Davies causing an upset.
The David Pipe trained Madison Du Berlais finished third in the Betfair Chase and should improve for that run and has form for causing an upset at Kempton after beating Paul Nicholls’ other stable star, Denman, at the Middlesex track in February and is sure to have his backers at 8/1. However, it could be the improving Deep Purple who represents excellent each way value at 12/1. Following a solid Novice campaign last year, the Evan Williams trained runner has started the season with two wins and is open to further improvement and whilst it may not be enough to reel in kauto Star, it should at least see him in the top three.
King George VI Chase Odds
Kauto Star 8/13
Imperial Commander 5/1
Madison Du Berlais 8/1
Deep Purple 12/1
Nacarat 14/1
Barbers Shop 16/1
Albertas Run 20/1
Tartak 33/1
Our Vic 25/1
Master Medic 40/1
Racing Demon 50/1

King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes Betting Odds
July 21, 2009
The Sir Michael Stoute trained Conduit heads bookmakers betting odds for Saturday’s Group One, King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot. Winner of last year’s St Leger, Conduit has had just two runs this season, both at Sandown and both credable efforts with the latest a 4 1/2 length 3rd in the Coral Eclipse behind Guineas and Derby winner, Sea the Stars, form whichalone is strong enough to merit his generally available 7/4 price tag, with Coral the bravest of all bookies at a stand out 2/1. However, when you look at his last win which came on his final start in 2008, in the Breeders Cup Tuf in Santa Anita, together with his St Leger form, it is difficult to mount a case for any of these rivals.

The closest rival to Conduit in the betting is another Stoute trained horse in the form of Tartan Bearer who is a best priced 4/1 chance with Ladbrokes and Paddy Power. Also a four year old like his stablemate, Tartan Bearer looked close to recapturing his best form, a second in the 2008 Derby behind New Approach at Royal Ascot in June when he second to Vision D’Etat in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes. However, unlike Conduit, a Group One success still eludes Tartan Bearer but if things fall right, that could end on Saturday.
Last year’s Oaks winner, Look Here, poses the biggest threat of a filly winning the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes. Judged on her previous two runs this season, her latest of which was in conditions that were far from ideal in the Group one Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh but still finished a respectable third gives this Ralph Beckett runner a great chance and at 7/1 makes sound each way appeal.
2009 British Open Golf Odds
July 13, 2009
The 2009 British Open tees off on Thursday 16th July at Turnberry Golf Golf Course on Scotland’s picturesque South West Coast and the most prestigous Championship in Golf promises to be a thrilling four days play.
Tiger Woods heads the bookmakers odds at around 2/1 with most firms, while Paddy Power and Sportingbet offer the best price on the three times Open Championship winner recording a fourth career success in the competition at 12/5. The World’s number one player missed last year’s event due to injury but this is a tournament he loves and when playing on links courses, Tiger is at his most dangerous hence why his odds are so short in comparison with the rest of the field. The second favourite in the bookies lists is Sergio Garcia at 22/1 which goes someway to highlightng the gulf which the odds compilers believe exists between Woods and the other players.

Padraig Harrington is bidding for a third consecutive and record equalling Open Championship title but his failure to capture any sort of form so far this season has see as big as 33/1 but the Irishman should not be written off and could prove a great bet at those odds heading in to the final round on Sunday.
With over 150 players set to tee off at Turnberry on Thursday, the 2009 British Open betting is sure to be as competitive as ever and unless you plan on backing Tiger Woods to win you can get some great odds on any of the other players and year after year, there are always a few surprises at at the top of the leaderboard come the final round. If you are looking to find a few bigger priced selections to cheer on over the four days, it is likely that you’ll be betting each wayand if you paln to we recommend either Boylesports or Paddy Power both of whom beat their rival bookmakers hands down by offering 1/4 odds, 7 places for people betting each way.

Sea the Stars the One to beat in Coral Eclipse Odds
July 2, 2009
The 2000 Guineas and Epsom Derby winner, Sea the Stars, reappears at Sandown on Saturday and bookmakers have made the John Oxx trained runner the one to beat in the Coral Eclipse betting odds. Having bypassed the Irish Derby last weekend due to the soft going, Sea the Stars must once again match a feight that has not been acheived since Nashwan 20 years ago and become the first Derby winner to winner to land the Coral Eclipse. However, wannabe backers should not be put off by that stat given he has already emulated Nashwan this season by becoming the first Guineas winner to win the Epsom Classic.
Free £10 Bet with Race Sponsors Coral when you open an account and bet on the Eclipse
The best odds available on Sea the Stars adding to his growing reputation are 10/11 with Ladbrokes and Stan James and with those odds having gradually shortened all week, it is expected that his price is only going to head in one direction by the off on Saturday afternoon.
It will take a brave man to back Sea the Stars at odds on as it requires a bigger stake to make the investment worthwhile but it will take an even braver man to oppose him! Conduit and Rip Van Winkle are the two vying for second favouritism, with both priced at best odds of 4/1 with Paddy Power, however, both rivals have plenty to find on form with Sea the Stars. The Sir Michael Stoute trained Conduit has the Group One Breeders Cup turf win to his name but that was a career best and a lot rests on him reproducing that form to come close to matching Sea the Stars, whilst Rip Van Winkle reopposes against the favourite for the third time this season and must improve on the 2 1/2 and 2 length defeats at the hands of Sea the Stars in the Guineas and Derby respectively. The drop back in trip to 1m 2f may prove to be optimum for the Aidan O’Brien runner but it is not expected to be a problem for Sea the Stars either resulting our prediction that it is Sea the Stars race to lose!

Irish Derby Odds
June 26, 2009
All eyes will be on the Curragh come Sunday afternoon when the first Colt in twenty years to win the 2,000 Guienas and Epsom Derby double, Sea the Stars, bids to add to his growing reputation by winning the Irish Derby. His trainer, John Oxx, cast doubt over whether he will run in the race after rain hit the Curragh on Thursday and Friday but is not going to make a decision til nearer the time, allowing the track time to dry out if the weather improves. Therefore, anybody looking to back Sea the Stars is probably best waiting until he is confirmed on Sunday morning, thus ensuring a refund if he doesn’t run. However, the 11/10 currently available with Boylesports may be long gone by then if he does run.
If Sea the Stars does run then it has to be taken that he will win, the decisive manner in which he won the English equivelent was enough to suggest that he is some way ahead of his d rival three year olds. Fame and Glory, who finished runner up at Epsom is a best price 11/4 with Coral to turn the tables and should Sea the Stars not get the runner, that would look a cracking price if you are happy to take that risk early, with none of the other runners looking liek serious dangers.
