Man Utd vs Crystal Palace Betting – Goalscorer Money Back Special
November 30, 2011
Manchester United host Crystal Palace in the quarter-finals of the Carling Cup tonight with the match live on Sky Sports 1 at 19.45pm. United are the overwhelming 2/9 favourites, while Crystal Palace have been handed odds of 12/1 to dish out a cup upset at Old Trafford. Ladbrokes will refund your losing first goalscorer bets in this Carling Cup clash if your selection scores later in the game.
Tonight’s match will be the sixth League Cup meeting between the sides, with Palace failing to win any of the previous five encounters. They have not won at Old Trafford since way back in 1989 and the last time the sides met they were thumped 5-2. United have won this competition four times, with their most recent title coming in 2010. By even fielding a reserve team United should simply be too strong for a struggling Palace and if they hit the back of the net early on then it could easily be a case of how many. Fergie’s men look good at 6/1 to win 3-0 or even 16/1 to record a comprehensive 4-1 win. Meanwhile, an out-of-luck Palace side can be backed at 20/1 to shock United 1-0. Palace will no doubt look to draw inspiration from Coventry who, in 2007, were the last Championship side to knock United out of the competition.
Unsurprisingly the First Goalscorer odds are dominated by Man Utd players, with strikers Javier Hernandez and Wayne Rooney the joint favourites at 2/1. However, with Fergie likely to rest his top players, Dimitar Berbatov and Danny Welbeck could both be worth a punt at 5/2, while Ryan Giggs is priced at 7/1 to open the scoring. Exciting youngsters Paul Pogba and Ravel Morrison could be given the opportunity to shine and are both priced at 8/1 to score the first goal of the night. Palace have found goals hard to come by in recent weeks having failed to score in any of their last five games. Chris Martin, Wilfred Zaha, Sean Scannell, Glenn Murray all priced at 12/1 for the away side

Formula 1 Championships 2012 Betting – Vettel Favourite For Third Title
November 29, 2011
The dust has now settled on the 2011 Formula One season with the majestic Sebastian Vettel storming to his second consecutive Drivers Championship in style with 11 Grand Prix wins and a whopping total of 392 points, 122 clear of second placed Jenson Button. Vettel will be gunning for his third consecutive Championship in 2012 and judging by his scintillating form of the last two seasons who would back against the talented German at Evens with William Hill.
Vettel’s rivals will be desperate to up their game next season and at least close the gap between themselves and the German. Vettel’s closest challengers, according to the odds, are Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso who are both priced at 9/2 to win the Championship for a second and third time respectively. Hamilton’s season was largely plagued by controversy and below-par performances but he managed to end strongly with a win in the penultimate race in Abu Dhabi. Similarly Alonso didn’t have the best of years, with his sole win coming at Silverstone back in July. The Spaniard will be disappointed with his fourth place finish overall, as will Hamilton with fifth, and both drivers will be looking to bounce back and mount a fierce title challenge next season.
Jenson Button had an excellent second half of the season run with eight podium finishes in the last nine races (including two wins) and the Brit will be eager to carry on that impressive fomr in 2012. Considering the form he was in at the end of last season Button is definitely worth a punt at a tempting 7/1 to win his second Drivers Championship next year.
Once again Mark Webber was overshadowed by Red Bull teammate and will no doubt be frustrated with his single win, which came in the final Grand Prix in Brazil. The Australian can be backed at 12/1 to win next season but in order to do so will need to find the form of 2010, where he narrowly missed out on the title by 14 points. He will be determined to get off to a strong start in his home Australian Grand Prix which begins on 15th March 2012. Elsewhere, Felipe Massa is priced at 40/1, while Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg are both available at 50/1. The 2012 season will also see the return of former world champion Kimi Raikkonen who has signed a two-year deal with Lotus.
Red Bull are the evens favourites in the 2012 Constructors Championship betting, while McLaren will most likely provide their stiffest challenge with odds of 13/8. Ferrari, who haven’t won since 2008, can be found at 5/1, while Mercedes GP are priced at 25/1.

Cavendish The Favourite In Sports Personality Of The Year Betting After Contenders Revealed
November 29, 2011
It’s that time of year again as the BBC get ready to hand out their prestigious Sports Personality Of The Year Award and the final list of ten contenders have been revealed for the first time. The shortlist is drawn up from various newspapers and Magazines across the country who are allowed to select ten contenders for the award, the ten most popular are then put forward to the public vote with the awards ceremony itself taking place on Thursday, 22 December. Following the announcement of the ten finalists, all the talk is about cyclist Mark Cavendish who has jumped straight to the top of the betting after having a fabulous year in 2011.
Cavendish is known as ‘The Manx Missile’ as he hails from the Isle of Man and he has proven himself the fastest man on two wheels once again this season having picked up the Green Jersey at the Tour de France and won the World Cycling Championships recently to win the Rainbow Jersey. The Green Jersey is awarded to the best sprinter during the three week Tour De France and the Rainbow Jersey is one of the highest honours for any cyclist to achieve, with that in mind Cavendish is a worthy favourite and can be backed at 6/5 with Ladbrokes to take the SPOTY award.
Mark Cavendish has to be the one to beat but cycling is perhaps not a mainstream sport which may count against him in a public vote meaning a look towards the golf contenders could be the way to go this year. British Golf is on the crest of a wave right now with perhaps the most memorable moment of the year coming at Sandwich when Darren Clarke lifted the Claret Jug to win his first Major Championship. Clarke is a massively popular player with sports fans and can be backed at 7/4 with Ladbrokes to claim the award this year, he held his nerve brilliantly to claim the open Championship and it would be a Major surprise if he were not in the top three at least. Other creditable contenders this year include 10,000 metre World Champion Mo Farah and US Open Golf Champion Rory Mcilroy who both have solid claims, they are not without a chance but in truth it looks a straight battle between Cavendish and Darren Clarke in what has been a staellar year for British sport.

Carling Cup Money Back Penalty Special With Ladbrokes
November 28, 2011
The Carling Cup returns to our screens on Tuesday with three crunch clashes. Two of which are enticing all-Premier League affairs while the third pits together an in-form Championship side against an out-of-form Premier League team. Ladbrokes are offering a money-back special where if the team you back goes through on penalties, they will refund your losing match bets. The offer applies to both the Liverpool vs Chelsea and Arsenal vs Manchester City games.
Arsenal v Man City
The Premier League leaders Manchester City travel to The Emirates to play Arsenal in what promises to be a cracking cup tie. Arsenal have recovered from their slow start to the season by leaping up to 7th in the league, qualifying for the knock-out stage of the Champions League and impressively reaching the quarter finals of the Carling Cup for a record-breaking ninth successive season. After winning the FA Cup last season Man City will be desperate to get their hands on more trophies and with the abundance of high quality players in their star-studded squad they are rightly one of the favourites. Roberto Mancini’s men are priced at 11/8 to come away with the win, while Arsenal are available at 2/1, with a draw at 9/4. The in-form Robin Van Persie is the 7/2 favourite to open the scoring, while Sergio Aguero can be backed at 4/1 and Edin Dzeko at 5/1.
Chelsea v Liverpool
Both managers will be keen to win the competition as they go in search of their first trophy since moving to their respective clubs. Chelsea and Liverpool have played each other four times in the League Cup, with two wins each, and judging by the recent league match between the sides this could well be another close encounter. Liverpool came out on top at Stamford Bridge on that occasion and have won their past three matches against the Blues, however, it is Chelsea who are the odds-on 4/5 favourites for the match. Liverpool can be backed at a very tempting 7/2, while a draw is available at 5/2. Fernando Torres cannot get in the Chelsea starting line-up for love nor money at the moment but the Carling Cup could give him the opportunity to prove himself to boss Andre Villas-Boas. Alongside Didier Drogba the Spaniard is the 4/1 favourite to open the scoring against his former club, while Luis Suarez is priced at 6/1 to get the game’s first goal.
Cardiff v Blackburn
The third match of the night sees Championship high-flyers Cardiff City take on Premier League strugglers Blackburn Rovers at the Cardiff City Stadium. The competition has been a welcome distraction for Rovers and they will be determined to reach the semi-finals for the second time in three years. Ladbrokes have Cardiff as the 7/5 favourites, while Steve Kean’s men can be backed at 15/8, with a draw priced at 23/10.

2012 Mens Tennis Specials With Stan James
November 25, 2011
The 2011 tennis season might be coming to an end but Stan James will keep you entertained over the Christmas period with a variety of tennis specials for the 2012 season. The Australian Open is remarkably only seven weeks away and the best players in the world will be eager to get off to a winning start Down Under.
Novak Djokovic has been the stand-out performer of 2011, winning a stunning three Grand Slam trophies and a plethora of other titles. The Serb will be looking to continue his form into the 2012 season and who would bet against him adding to his rapidly growing trophy cabinet. The 24-year-old is available at 8/1 to repeat his feat of 2011 and win three Grand Slams or go one better at 33/1 and win all four.
Such was the dominance of Djokovic that Rafa Nadal had to settle for just the one Grand Slam this season, his beloved French Open. Nadal lost an incredible six finals to Djokovic but he will surely use this as motivation to come back stronger next year. Nadal is available at 6/5 to win one Slam in 2012 or 12/1 to match 2010 and win three. He is also priced at 2/1 to beat Djokovic in a Grand Slam Match Bet.
Andy Murray may still be searching for that elusive first Grand Slam but he can look back on 2o11 as another successful year. The Scot finished as runner-up in the Australian Open and managed to reach the semi-finals in the other three Grand Slams, coming unstuck against his nemisis Rafa Nadal each time. He finished the season strongly, winning the Thailand and Japan Open before injury forced him to withdraw from the ATP World Tour Finals. Murray will be gunning for a Grand Slam in 2012 and is priced at 13/8 to win his first one next year.
Many critics have claimed that Roger Federer is now well past his best. However, he still managed to reach a Grand Slam final, two semi-finals and a quarter final this season, and has also finished well with a few titles and thumped Nadal 6-3 6-0 in just 61 minutes at the ATP World Tour Finals, in what he described as his best win ever.

Liverpool v Man City Betting – Goals Galore Paddy Power Special
November 24, 2011
Liverpool v Man City – Sunday, 27th November (Sky Sports 1, 4pm)
On Sunday the Premier League leaders and stand out team of the season so far, Manchester City, travel to Anfield to take on a rejuvenated Liverpool side who will be buzzing following their last gasp win at Stamford Bridge last weekend. The match promises to be an absolute cracker and will hopefully be packed full of drama, excitement and goals galore. If there are 4 or more goals in this game, Paddy Power will refund all losing first/last goalscorer, correct score & scorecast singles on the match. Paddy Power recently offered the same money-back special in Man City’s match against QPR, which ended up being a five goal thriller.
Liverpool are currently on an unbeaten run of nine matches in all competitions. Despite not yet losing at Anfield this season they have often struggled to break teams down and have been held on four occasions against the likes of Premier League new boys Swansea and Norwich. Their win against Chelsea will have been a massive confidence booster and a win on Sunday could send them into the top four. Luis Suarez is available at 6/1 to open the scoring, while Craig Bellamy is priced at 15/2 to score the game’s first goal against his former club.
In contrast to their indifferent Champions League performances Man City have simply been scintillating in the league, collecting a staggering 34 out of a possible 36 points so far. Their away form has been exceptional, scoring 23 goals on the road, including a combined 11 against Manchester United and Tottenham. Sergio Aguero is the 5/1 favourite to be the First Goalscorer in the match but with three goals in his last four matches Mario Balotelli looks good value to open the scoring at 6/1, as does Edin Dzeko who has ten league goals to his name this season.
Man City are the 9/4 favourites to win what would be their eighth league game in a row, while Liverpool can be backed at a tempting 15/8. Alternatively a draw is available at 9/4. Despite being installed as the favourites City will be conscious of winning only one of the last 12 meetings between the sides and having only won once at Anfield since 1981. Last season Liverpool thrashed them 3-0 with Andy Carroll bagging two and Dirk Kuyt the other in a blistering first half performance by the Reds. We expect the match to be much closer this time round and could be decided by just the one goal. However, if Man City play like they did at Man Utd and Spurs then Liverpool’s defence are in for a frantic afternoon and there could once again be a number of goals. A 2-2 draw could be the way to go at 11/1, while Liverpool are priced at 17/2 to win 2-1 and Man City at 17/1 to come away with a 3-1 victory.

Big Bucks A Short Price With William Hill To Remain Unbeaten Through Another Season
November 24, 2011
No horse has been more dominant in the world of National Hunt racing over the past few years than the great Big Bucks who has proven to be invincible since returning to hurdles at the start of 2009. Trainer Paul Nicholls and connections decided to switch Big Bucks back to the smaller obstacles after he fell in the Hennessy gold Cup in 2008 and it has proven to be a fantastic decision. Since then Big Bucks has won a remarkable three consecutive World Hurdles at the Cheltenham Festival as well as a number of other Grade 1 races which have come in a run of 12 consecutive race wins which is an astonishing feat in such a competitive sport.
The usual route for Big Bucks through a season is the Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury, the Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot, the World Hurdle at Cheltenham and the Liverpool Hurdle at Aintree and all the indications are that he will follow that path once again this season. William Hill are convinced that the Paul Nicholls horse will hold off all challengers once again and he is as short as 3/1 to do just that and keep his unbeaten record over hurdles through untill a possible run at Aintree in April.
The main aim for Big Bucks is of course the World Hurdle at Cheltenham and at this stage he is the hot favourite to claim a fourth successive win in the race, William Hill make him as short as 4/5 to claim the historic win and at the moment it is hard to oppose him. No horse has been able to get close to Big Bucks at Cheltenham over the past few years, his ability to gallop at a strong pace is second to none and it is hard to remember a race where jockey Ruby Walsh has ever had to get serious with him over hurdles. As a betting prospect Big Bucks will always be a tough one for punters as he rarely goes off at anything longer than odds-on which is why backing him to remain unbeaten through the winter may prove to be an excellent piece of value.
2012 Big Bucks Betting Specials with William Hill
- 3/1 – Big Bucks to remain unbeaten through the season
- 4/5 – Big Bucks to win the World Hurdle at Cheltenham

Champions League Betting – Goalscorer Special With Ladbrokes
November 23, 2011
Arsenal vs Borussia Dortmond – Wednesday 23rd November (Sky Sports 2, 19.45pm)
Bayer Leverkusen vs Chelsea – Wednesday 23rd November (ITV 1, 19.45pm)
Chelsea and Arsenal will be looking to fly the flag for England in Europe tonight following disappointing performances by the two Manchester club’s on Tuesday. The London teams will battle it out with German opposition as they have the chance to win qualification to the knock-out stages. Ladbrokes will refund losing first goalscorer bets if your selection scores later in the game.
Chelsea currently top Group E and a win this evening could see them qualify for the next round, although this depends on the Valencia result. Boss Andre Villas-Boas heads into the match under pressure following Chelsea’s recent slump in form in the Premier League which has seen them lose three of their last four matches. Europe may come as a welcome distraction but it will by no means be an easy match as Leverkusen are just two points behind in the group and Chelsea have won just once in five previous trips to Germany. However, Ladbrokes have Chelsea as the 11/10 favourites for the win while the home side, who have beaten both Valencia and Genk at the BayArena this season, can be backed at 5/2 to make it three against Chelsea. A draw is available at 9/4.
Fernando Torres is the 5/1 favourite to open the scoring, while Didier Drogba and Daniel Sturridge are priced at 11/2. Frank Lampard is available at 7/1 to score first while Leverkusen’s Eren Derdiyok, Stefan Kiessling and Andre Schurrle can all be backed at 8/1. We expect this to be a tight game with a 1-1 draw a possible outcome at 6/1.
Two in-form teams meet at the Emirates stadium tonight as Arsenal’s take on Borussia Dortmund. While the Gunners have won ten of their last 12 matches, Dortmund have won seven in nine, with both teams showing great character to recover from slow starts to the season. Arsenal will be disappointed with their goalless draw at home to Marseille in their last Champions League match but will put that behind them tonight as a win will ensure they qualify for the knock-out stages. Their opponents will provide stiff competition and will be going for the win as a defeat could end their qualification hopes. They will also be fired up following their impressive win aagainst rivals Bayern Munich at the weekend. Ladbrokes have Arsenal as the evens favourites, while Dortmund are available at 13/5 to come away with another impressive away win. A draw can be found at 5/2. The simply outstanding Robin Van Persie is the 7/2 favourite to open the scoring tonight, while Marouane Chamakh is available at 6/1.

Dougie Poynter Fighting For Im A Celebrity Favouritism With Mark Wright
November 23, 2011
It has been an interesting series of Im A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here as always but so far we have no clear favourite for to win the show according to the latest show of betting. There are clearly a number of popular characters in the Jungle but no obvious winner of the show at this stage which has been unlike previous editions of the successful ITV programme in Australia. The Only Way Is Essex star Mark Wright is currently the slight favourite but he has hardly set the jungle alight while the same can be said of McFly bassist Dougie Poynter.
In Poynter and Wright we have two decent guys who will get their fair share of votes from female admirers but neither have taken the show by the scruff of the neck which is reflected in the latest betting with William Hill. The bookmakers rate Mark Wright as the 2/1 favourite at this stage with Poynter hot on his heels at 3/1 with Hills as we approach the half way point of the fascinating series down under. The pair seem to be developing a close friendship in the jungle but according to William Hill they could be enemies fighting it out to be named the new King Of The Jungle come the end of the show.
At this stage it looks like being a straight fight between Wright and Poynter to win the show with Coronation Street star Anthony Cotton looking the only real challenger to them based on the betting. Cotton has a certain amount of popularity from the loyal soap fans and with that in mind he currently priced at 4/1 with William Hill to claim the win but his constant bitching and moaning is likely to hurt his chances as we progress. In all probability we are looking at a straight fight between Mark Wright and Dougie Poynter to be crowned King Of the Jungle for 2011 and at the moment it is tough to pick between the two.

Man Utd v Benfica Odds – Javier Hernandez Betting Special
November 22, 2011
Man Utd v Benfica – Tuesday 22nd November (Sky Sports 4, 7.45pm)
Manchester United tackle Benfica tonight in the Champions League in a match that pits together the top teams in Group C. Since their humiliating defeat at home to fierce rivals Manchester City, United have won five matches on the bounce without a conceding a single goal. They currently lead Group C but their qualification is by no means certain, with tonight’s opponents Benfica second only on goal difference and FC Basel just three points behind in third. If Basle lose to bottom side Otelul Galat tonight then United only need a draw to qualify, and with just one defeat in their last 34 home games in the competition Fergie’s men will certainly be confident. However, they come up against an in-form Benfica team who are undefeated in 20 matches this season and will be going all out for the win.
United are the 4/7 favourites with Paddy Power while Benfica have been handed odds of 11/2 to come away with a surprise win. Benfica will look to draw inspiration from Basel’s thrilling 3-3 draw at Old Trafford, with a draw priced at 11/4 tonight. Wayne Rooney can be backed at 7/2 to be the First Goalscorer tonight, while Javier Hernandez, who popped up at the weekend to score United’s winner against Swansea, is priced at 9/2 to score first. If Hernandez scores last, Paddy Power will refund all losing first/last goalscorer, correct score & scorecast singles on the match. With four goals in his last three games Rodrigo looks like a very tempting 10/1 bet to open the scoring at Old Trafford.
Man City are also in action tonight as they travel to Napoli in search of a vital three points. Roberto Mancini’s men have recovered from a difficult start in the competition to record back-to-back wins against Villarreal. City are currently second in Group B and a win tonight would guarantee qualification to the next round. However, that task is much easier said than done, as City found out in their opening Champions League match when Napoli held them to a 1-1 draw. The Italian side are unbeaten in their last ten European home games and three points tonight would take them above City into third place and put them in a great position to qualify. Paddy Power have City as the 11/10 favourites for the win, while Napoli are priced at 13/5, with a draw available at 23/10.
