Rory McIlroy A Short Price To Win Another Golf Major in 2012
October 20, 2011
Rory McIlroy has made the breakthrough in 2011 to golf stardom and the bookmakers are predicting there will be more glory for the man from Northern Ireland in 2012. McIlroy simply blew the field away in Washington back in June to win his first Major at the US Open and with the season now drawing to a close all eyes are on the four Majors on the calendar in 2012. The Masters at Augusta will be the players first chance as always to pick up a Major and McIlroy is sure to be one of the favourites, he was he leader there after three rounds this season before falling away on the Sunday but it is clearly a course that suits his game.
McIlroy is capable of winning any tournament and if he arrives at one of the majors on top form he will be hard to beat in 2012, that fact is reflected in current price of just 15/8 with Skybet to win any Major Championship next year. The style of McIlroy’s win in Washington was reminiscent of Tiger Woods at his best and the former World Number one will also be hoping he can return to that form in 2012 as he goes looking to end his Major drought. Woods has dropped out of the top 50 in the world rankings and shown very little form in 2011 but Skybet still believe he can pick up a Major next season, Woods is as short as 5/2 to win a 15th Major which looks a little skinny at this stage.
2012 could be the year that we see the likes of Luke Donald and Lee Westwood claim their first major after years of trying to break their duck, they are the current top two players in the world rankings and the two men from England will be desperate to put a Major on their impressive CV’s. Westwood in particular has had numerous chances to win one of the big four but so far has been unable to get over the line while Donald is in the form of his life and has to be targeting a big win next year before playing the Ryder Cup next September. Donald and Westwood are both available at 3/1 with Skybet to claim any of the four Majors in 2012, we feel that given his current form Luke Donald looks like the player offering the best value of the two at the moment.

Manchester Derby Money-Back Special – Wayne Rooney Betting
October 20, 2011
Manchester United v Manchester City – Sunday 23rd October (Sky Sports 1, 13.30pm)
The match the Premier League has been eagerly anticipating since the new season got underway is finally upon us: Manchester United versus Manchester City. The top two stand-out teams of the season so far meet at Old Trafford on Sunday in what promises to be a fiery encounter. United hold the edge with seven wins in the last 10 meetings between the sides, with Fergie’s men most recently coming from two goals down to beat City in the Community Shield back in August. Paddy Power have installed Man Utd as the 21/20 favourites for the win on Sunday, while Man City are priced at 13/5, with a draw available at 12/5.
The First Goalscorer betting market is always popular in the big games, and this is no exception with Paddy Power providing a cracking money-back special: If Wayne Rooney scores, then they will refund all losing first/last goalscorer, correct score & scorecast singles. The match brings together the league’s two in-form strikers who are fighting it out to win this season’s Golden Boot award: Wayne Rooney and Sergio Aguero. With nine league goals to his name already Rooney is the man to watch and it comes as little surprise that he has been priced as the 11/2 favourite to open the scoring on Sunday. Other United players to look out for include Javier Hernandez at 6/1, Nani at 8/1 and Ashley Young who is available at 9/1 to score the game’s first goal.
For City, the Argentinean Sergio Aguero has been in fine form netting eight league goals this season. The former Athletic Madrid hit man has adjusted admiringly to the fast-paced, physical nature of the Premier League and is available at 7/1 to open the scoring. Providing he starts, Mario Balotelli is well worth a gamble at 8/1 while the midfield magician David Silva is priced at 10/1. The match would not be the same without one or two controversial incidents with a penalty kick price at 15/8.
With home advantage we feel that Man Utd will just edge this encounter, but it will no doubt be extremely close. This game has the potential for goals, with a 3-2 home win looking tempting at 20/1. Two seasons ago United memorably beat City 4-3 in a thrilling derby, and Paddy Power have priced the Red Devils at 100/1 to win by the same scoreline this time round. However, Roberto Mancini’s men will want to prove their title credentials with a win at Old Trafford and if they pick up the three points on offer then they will not only be brimming with confidence but they would have extended their lead at the top to five points. A 2-1 Man City win may be the way to go at 10/1.

Champions League Money-Back Special – Marseille v Arsenal
October 19, 2011
Marseille v Arsenal – Wednesday 18th October (ITV 1, 7.45pm)
Arsenal travel to France tonight to play Marseille in their third Group F Champions League match. The game promises to be an exciting encounter with Marseille currently sitting a point above The Gunners at the top of the group with six points. Therefore a win for Arsene Wenger’s men would propel them up to top spot and edge them closer to the knock-out stages. Paddy Power have installed Marseille as 11/8 favourites whileArsenal are priced at 21/20 to come away with the three points, with a draw available at odds of 11/5.
Paddy Power are offering a fantastic money-back special whereby if Robin Van Persie scores the last goal, then they will refund all losing first/last goalscorer, correct score & scorecast singles on the match. The Dutchman scored two fine goals against Sunderland at the weekend and he is available at 11/2 to score the final goal of the match tonight. Van Persie has been priced at 4/1 to score in an Arsenal win, and the striker has also been handed odds of 12/1 to score two or more goals during the game. It will no doubt be a tight match with a 1-1 draw at 5/1 looking like a possible outcome.
Chelsea are also in European action tonight at home to Genk. Chelsea are currently top of Group E and Paddy Power have them as the heavy 1/8 favourites to win and extend their lead at the top, while Genk have long odds of 22/1 to snatch an unlikely win at Stamford Bridge, with a draw priced at 7/1. The Risk Emerge As New Favourites In X Factor Betting
October 19, 2011
Following their excellent rendition of Bruno Mars’ Just The Way You Are boyband The Risk have catapulted to the top of the X Factor betting market as they strive to become the first ever group to win X Factor. The betting is extremely close at the moment with virtually nothing separating the top three. The Risk have had their odds cut to just 9/4 as William Hill install them as the new favourites, while previous favourite Janet Devlin is just behind at 5/2, followed by diva Misha B at 9/2.
Nu Vibe’s hopes of winning a record contract came crashing down on Sunday when the judges opted to keep Frankie Cocozza after both acts had finished in the bottom two of the public vote. Frankie’s disappointing rendition of Coldplay’s The Scientist means that his odds have been lengthened to 33/1 and it now appears that he is out of the running to win the competition unless he can find a way of winning back his now dubious fan base.
Sophie Habibis is definitely one to watch out for as she gradually begins to make her mark in the competition. Most viewers were surprised when Kelly Rolland opted to keep her in ahead of Amelia Lily but it has proved to be a wise move with the London barmaid impressing at the weekend. William Hill have now shortened the 19-year-old’s odds to 10/1. Elsewhere Craig Colton could be in with a shout with odds of just 6/1, as could outsiders Johnny Robinson and Kitty Brucknell – both priced at 33/1 – who have managed to create a web of hysteria and intrigue.
The X Factor Outright Winner Odds
- 9/4 – The Risk
- 5/2 – Janet Devlin
- 9/2 – Misha Bryan
- 6/1 – Craig Colton
- 10/1 – Sophie Habibis
- 16/1 – Marcus Collins
- 25/1 – Rhythmix

PGA Grand Slam of Golf Betting Odds
October 18, 2011
PGA Grand Slam of Golf: Tuesday 18th – Wednesday 19th October
The annual Grand Slam of Golf takes part in Bermuda between the four major champions of 2011. US Masters winner Charl Schwartzel, runnerway US Open Champion Rory McIlroy, British Open victor Darren Clarke and PGA Champion Keegan Bradley are set to go head-to-head in what promises to be an intriguing two-day tournament. All four players are first-time major winners, which adds extra spice to proceedings. Previous winners of the tournament include Tiger Woods, Ernie Els and Jim Furyk but the question is who will be joining that elite list come Wednesday?
The tournament is being held at Port Royal Golf Course and William Hill have installed Rory McIlroy as the 11/8 favourite. The Ulsterman was sensational on route to winning the US Open back in June and if he can emulate the form he was in at the Congressional Country Club then he will be extremely difficult to beat.
US Masters winning Charl Schwartzel is next in the running with odds of 2/1 to win the tournament. The South African has had a fantastic year where he has not only picked up his first Major but had strong performances in the other three, proving his Augusta win was no fluke. The surprise PGA Championship winner Keegan Bradley has been handed odds of 7/2 to come away with the win, while The Open champion Darren Clarke is priced at 11/2.

Jason Donovan And Harry Judd Battling For Strictly Come Dancing Favouritism
October 18, 2011
We are now a few weeks into the new series of Strictly Come Dancing and it is quickly becoming clear that we could have a two horse race on our hands, with McFly Drummer Harry Judd and Jason Donovan emerging as the favourites among viewers. It was expected that Judd would perform well on the show but it is the popular Donovan who has leapt from the pack to grab favouritism, he has impressed alongside his partner Kristina Rihanoff over the first couple of shows and looks like the one to beat. Donovan has always been a popular figure in the UK which will ensure he receives plenty of votes but his dancing skills have been surprisingly good which could prove to be a successful combination as we head through the competition.
Donovan has become increasingly popular in the early weeks of the new series and he now heads the latest betting for the outright winner of Strictly Come dancing 2011, Paddy Power have slashed his price about winning the famous glitter ball all the way into 11/8. That looks a little short at this early stage of the series with Donovan facing stiff competition from the likes of Drummer Harry Judd who is sure to get plenty of votes from fans across the country. The McFly member won the charity version of the show last year and as expected he has taken that experience into the full series making him a genunine contender for the overall title.
McFly have a legion of fans across the country which should give Harry Judd plenty of support during the next few weeks and that is reflected in his latest price with Paddy Power, the Irish bookmakers have him snapping at the heels of Jason Donovan and rate him an 11/4 shot to take the title in December. On paper it does look like a two horse race between Judd and Donovan but there remains time for a dark horse to jump from the pack, at the moment the most likely to do that looks like being Holly Valance who continues to sh0w plenty of promise. The Aussies actress will no doubt attract plenty of male admirers but she faces a tough task if she is to break up the likely showdown between Harry Judd and Jason Donovan of the first few shows are anything to go by.
Strictly Come Dancing Betting 2011 with Paddy Power

Frankel A Short Price To Go Through 2012 Flat Season Unbeaten
October 17, 2011
The 2011 flat season in the UK has all been about the brilliant Frankel, he has remained unbeaten through the year to earn himself a reputation as the best horse in the world and will stay in training next year. The Henry Cecil trained horse won the QE11 Stakes at Ascot on British Champions Day to bring his tally to nine successive wins and the bookmakers are already taking bets on him remaining unbeaten in 2012. Frankel has simply blown away some very good fields this season and was the star attraction at Ascot recently, punters and bookmakers alike are delighted he will stay in training as a four year-old and it will be fascinating to see how he fares.
Frankel has wracked up a number of Group 1 successes this season with the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket perhaps the most impressive, that day he showed an astonishing turn of foot to hose up over the straight mile and he has been unbeatable ever since. Sir Henry Cecil and connections have kept the horse at the mile distance this season and that has proven the right choice having won the Sussex Stakes and the St James Palace Stakes before his brilliant win in the QEII Stakes last time out. The only question mark surrounding Frankel remains the quality of opposition on offer at the mile this year and those questions will be answered in 2012 as he steps up in trip for the first time with the older horses.
It is expected that we will see Frankel take on the 10 furlong trip in 2012 and there could be plenty of stiff competition on offer with the strength in depth at that distance much stronger at the moment. William Hill have been taking plenty of money about Frankel remaining unbeaten through 2012 and he is now as short as 7/4 to do just that, that looks a short price but such is his talent that it may prove to be a good piece of value come this time next year. No plan has been set out for Frankel next season but if he proves a success at 10 furlongs he could head to races like the Coral Eclipse at Sandown, the Prince Of Wales Stakes at Royal Ascot with even a trip to the Breeders Cup a possibility at this early stage in what could be a mouthwatering prospect for racing fans.

Champions League Money-Back Special – Manchester City v Villarreal
October 17, 2011
Champions League Money-Back Special – Manchester City v Villarreal
The Champions League returns to our screens on Tuesday with both Manchester clubs aiming to get back on track following slow starts. Both teams have relatively straight forward matches with bookmakers’ Ladbrokes offering a money-back special on the Manchester City v Villarrreal game. Ladbrokes will refund losing First Goalscorer bets on the match, if Edin Dzeko scores at any time. Dzeko was rested in City’s 4-1 win at the weekend which means he will be refreshed and ready to rumble on Tuesday. The Bosnian international can currently be found with odds of evens to score at any point during the match.
In contrast to their excellent league form Man City have struggled to get to grips with the Champions League. They were surprisingly held at home in their opening match against a battling Napoli and then they were totally outclassed in their last outing away to Bayern Munich. That match of course will be remembered for the whole Carlos Tevez saga but City have a good chance to put that behind them and kick-start their European dreams by getting their first win in the competition at home to Spanish side Villarreal, who are pointless after two matches. Ladbrokes have City as the odds on 1/3 favourites while Villarreal have been priced at 9/1, with a draw available at 4/1.
City have been scoring for fun at home this season and they look set to run out comfortable winners on Tuesday, with a 3-1 scoreline at 10/1 looking like a tempting bet. Providing he is back to match fitness the in-form Sergio Aguero is the 7/2 favourite to open the scoring, while his strike partner Edin Dzeko is priced at 4/1 to score first. Midfield duo Samir Nasri and David Silva have both been handed odds of 7/1 to be the First Goalscorer while Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi is available at 9/1.
City’s fierce neighbours Manchester United are also in action on Tuesday with a trip to little known Romanian side Otelul Galati. Like City, Man Utd have had a disappointing start to the Champions League, failing to win in both of their games so far. However, last year’s runners up should simply be too strong for Galatic, whom themselves have yet to register a point in their debut season in the competition. Ladbrokes are United at short odds of 1/5 to come away with the three points, while the home side are the huge 14/1 outsiders. Wayne Rooney is the 5/2 favourite to open the scoring.

India v England ODI Betting
October 13, 2011
England return to action on Friday 14th October for the first of five One Day Internationals against India. England, of course, recently thumped the Indians on home turf but they face an altogether different challenge away in India. India will be gunning for revenge following their embarrassing 3-0 defeat in England and bookmakers Betfred have priced them as the 4/6 favourites with England available at 6/5.
The first match gets underway in Hyderbad with India the narrow 4/5 favourites to get off to a winning start. England have been handed odds of 1/1 as they look to carry on from where they left off the last time the teams met. ECB Cricketer of the Year Jonathan Trott is the 10/3 favourite in the Top England Batsman betting for the first encounter. If England can produce the form they did during the summer then they will certainly be the team to beat. Providing they are on top form they look good value at 5/2 to come away series winners at a score of 3-2. Alternatively they are priced at 11/2 to win the series 4-1.
Captain Alastair Cook and Trott have both been priced at 3/1 in the Top England Series Batsman betting market, while Ian Bell could be a tempting bet at 5/1. Spinner Graeme Swann is the 9/4 favourite to finish as the Top England Series Bowler, with Tim Bresnan handed odds of 7/2.

Liverpool v Man Utd Betting – Money-Back Special
October 12, 2011
Liverpool v Man Utd – Saturday 15th October, Sky Sports 2 (12.45pm)
The Premier League explodes back onto our television screens this weekend with the hotly aniticipated match between fierce rivals Liverpool and Manchester United. The game promises to be a fiesty encounter full of passion and drama played in front of an electric crowd. Paddy Power have spiced things up even more through offering a fantastic Money-Back Special whereby if Luis Suarez scores, they will refund all losing first/last goalscorer, correct score & scorecast singles on the match.
United have had a brilliant start to the season, winning six of their opening seven games, which sees them sitting pretty at the top of the table. Putting aside a couple of poor results Liverpool have had a relatively successful start and are 5th in the league with 13 points. United are yet to experience a defeat in the league this season but have lost on their last three visits to Anfield, including a 3-1 defeat last season which saw Dirk Kuyt score a hat-trick. The Dutchman has been handed long odds of 90/1 to repeat the feat and grab another three goals. Paddy Power have installed United as the 11/8 favourites for the win, while Liverpool are priced at 21/10, with a draw available at 11/5.
Liverpool’s key player at the moment is the in-form Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan has four league goals to his name so far and he has been priced at 6/1 to open the scoring on Saturday, with odds of 15/8 to score anytime. His striker partner Andy Carroll is available at 7/1 while Kuyt has odds of 8/1. Wayne Rooney will be looking to bounce back from his straight red card against Montenegro and who would be surprised if he was the game’s first goalscorer at 5/1, while Javier Hernandez is priced at 6/1. If your chosen player fails to score the first goal but does score a goal in the match then Paddy Power will return your bet stake.
We see this game being tight with the most likely outcome a draw, with 1-1 looking good value at 11/2. However, either team has the ability to edge it but on current form you would go with Man Utd who have odds of 8/1 to come away with a 2-1 win.
