Real Madrid Leading Candidates In Neymar Next Club Betting

July 14, 2011

Neymar has rapidly become one of the hottest properties in world football and currently has a handful of top European clubs fighting it out to capture his signature. The talented 19-year-old has shone this year after a series of dazzling displays for his club Santos, whom he recently helped win the Copa Libertadores with two goals in the Final. The Neymar transfer saga will be in full swing once the Brazilian has returned from the Copa America as it now looks like he is destined to leave Santos after attracting attention from Europe’s big spenders.

His suitors must be willing to splash the cash for their man as he has a whopping €45 million release clause in his contract, something that is unlikely to trouble the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid. Sky Bet have installed the Spanish giants Madrid as the 8/15 favourites to sign their summer blockbuster before the end of the transfer window, and at the moment it appears that the Bernabeu is Neymar’s most likely destination.

However, a number of other club’s will have something to say about that. The Premier League duo, Chelsea and Man City, are both eager to sign the young Brazlian in order to bolster their respective attacks. At Chelsea, Neymar could form a potentially ruthless partnership with Fernando Torres, where as at Man City he may be able to link up with Carlos Tevez, if the Argentine performs a dramatic u-turn and opts to stay at Eastlands. Chelsea are the 9/4 second favourites to land the star and Man City are available at 7/1.

Also in contention are Madrid’s fierce rivals Barcelona with odds of 4/1. In Barcelona Neymar would be joining the best team in the world, however, he will not definitely be a guaranteed starter at the club, which could put him off.  Juventus are also in with a shout at 16/1, as our the well-off Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala, who currently have four Brazilians in their side, including Roberto Carlos. At the moment it is unlikely that any deal will be completed until after the Copa America has come to a close, so expect fireworks come the end of July.

  • 9/4 – Chelsea
  • 4/1 – Barcelona
  • 7/1 – Man City

Mercury Music Prize Betting 2011 Points Towards More Success For Adele

July 14, 2011

There is no bigger star in the world of singing at the moment than Adele and the girl from Tottenham could be set to add another prize to her already bulging CV, the Rolling in The Deep singer is one of the market leaders in the Mercury Music Prize Betting for 2011 and few would bet against her at this stage. Paddy Power have opened a lively market for the Music prize which is one of the most respected awards in the music business, it rewards the best album in the UK and Ireland and is decided on by a panel of industry experts.

Adele has been breaking all sorts of records with her successful 21 Album and it is available at 9/2 with Paddy Power to win the Mercury Music Prize when it is announced in September. It has to be said that Adele does look the one to beat here, but the panel do have a tendency to shy away from the chart artists meaning there is a bit of value to be had further down the market. One popular artist being backed at this stage is PJ Harvey who has long been a favourite of so-called real music fans, her album Let England Shake has been well received and she is also a 9/2 shot with Paddy Power to pick up the prize for the second time having won back in 2001 with Stories From The City, Stories from the Sea.

James Blake is another artist who is building a nice reputation for himself with his debut album and he could be a bit of dark horse in the Mercury Prize Betting, his self titled album has been something of a success and he will be hoping he can boost his career by picking up this prestigious prize. Blake looks to be building a nice career for himself and punters wanting to back him here with Paddy Power.com can get a nice looking prize currently of 7/1, he could be exactly the sort of artist the panel like as they look to boost a fledgling artist. All eyes will be on Adele though who has been having hit after hit both in the UK and in America and she has to be the one to beat, she has a stunning voice and it would be no surprise to see her pick up further recognition in the form of the Mercury Prize.

Andy Schleck New Favourite In Tour de France Betting

July 13, 2011

The riders have already completed ten thrilling Stages of what has been a truly dramatic Tour de France so far. The first week and a half has flown by, and one thing is for sure, it has certainly not been a tour for the faint hearted. There have been a series of serious, and tour-ending crashes. The worst of which came on Sunday when some wreckless driving threw two riders off their bikes, and they were fortunate to still be alive let alone finish the race, which they did by the way. British hearts sank when Bradley Wiggins was forced to withdraw after breaking his collarbone during Stage 8, but Mark Cavendish managed  to brush off his early frustrations to post a couple of Stage wins so far. Sadly, there has already been a first major doping offence, with the Russian rider Alexandr Kolobnev chucked off the tour for testing positive for Hydrochlorothiazide HCT.

The betting is now in full flow as the riders get ready to hit the gruelling mountains on Thursday 14th July. Last year’s runner up Andy Schleck has replaced the pre-tour favourite and three time winner, Alberto Contador, at the head of the Outright Betting, and now has odds of 11/10 with Paddy Power to win his first Tour de France. Contador has suffered a couple of minor crashes and has also complained of a niggling knee injury. However, he is widely recognised as the best climber in the pack and with the tour due to head into the mountains the Spaniard is likely to come into his own and start reducing the time gap between himself and his rivals. Paddy Power have the 28-year-old available at 11/4 to finish as the King of the Mountains.

At 4/1 to win the Tour de France, the Australian Cadel Evans looks a very good bet. The 34-year-old has had a fantastic tour so far and looks to be going from strength to strength. He is currently sitting in third place overall and will determined to continue eclipsing his major rivals as the tour progresses.

Sprinting sensation Mark Cavendish has already two Stages to his name, and came close to making that three on Tuesday but he was just edged out on the line by his former team mate Andre Greipel. The Manxman is the odds-on 8/12 favourite to win Stage 11 (Blage-les-Mines – Lavaur) today and thus edge closer to catching the green jersey leader Philippe Gilbert. Cavendish has odds of 5/4 to win the Points Classification battle, behind the 11/10 favourite Gilbert.

Stage 11 (Blage-les-Mines – Lavaur) – Wednesday 13th July

  • 8/12 – M Cavendish
  • 13/2 – A Greipel
  • 9/1 – T Farrar
  • 16/1 – A Petacchi
  • 22/1 – R Feillu

Adele The Favourite To Sing The Theme For New James Bond Film

July 12, 2011

Female solo artists are currently dominating the James Bond Theme Betting, with the bookmakers William Hill installing the English singer-songwriter Adele as the 3/1 favourite. Adele has had a cracking 2011 so far having enjoyed number one successes with her new album “21” and hit single “Someone Like You”, and the Londoner certainly has the powerful voice to rise to the occasion and boom a hit Bond song.

Adele is just ahead of fellow Brit Leona Lewis, who is priced at 5/1 to get a crack at singing the title song for the next James Bond film. American popstars Beyonce (8/1), Nicole Scherzinger (10/1) and Rihanna (10/1) are also among the main contenders vying for the opportunity. At 10/1 Kings of Leon look good value, as do Muse at 12/1. If you are looking for an outside bet then pop sensation Lady Gaga is available at odds of 25/1 with William Hill.

The American’s Alicia Keys and Jack White teamed up to sing the theme song for the most recent James Bond film Quantum of Solace back in 2008, with other previous contributors including Madonna, Nancy Sinatra and Paul McCartney. The 23rd Bond film, starring Daniel Craig for the third and potentially final time, is due to be released on 9th November 2012.

Who will sing the theme for the next James Bond film?

  • 3/1 – Adele
  • 5/1 – Leona Lewis
  • 8/1 – Beyonce

  • 10/1 – Rihanna

Canford Cliffs And Frankel Cant Be Split In Sussex Stakes Betting

July 12, 2011

It has been a stellar flat season so far in the UK and Ireland but the best is yet to come as we countdown towards a clash between 2000 Guineas winner Frankel, and multiple Group 1 winner Canford Cliffs in the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood. It is a clash of the ages as we look to find the best miler in Europe with the three-year old sensation Frankel the talk of racing at the moment, he will face his toughest task yet though when he faces the brilliant Canford Cliffs who is coming off a win over Goldikova in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.

At the moment the bookmakers can not split the pair with Boylesports rating both horses as an 11/10 shot to claim the all important bragging rights in one of the most hotly anticipated races in recent memory. Frankel was simply scintillating when winning the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket back in May and he backed that up with a win in the St James Palace Stakes at the Royal Meeting. The run at Ascot saw Frankel going for home early and although he held on for the win he appeared to be running out of steam in the final furlong, he will no doubt be held up at Goodwood with connections already saying they will not make the same mistake again.

We can almost guarantee that Canford Cliffs will be on the shoulder of Frankel going into the last couple of furlongs in the Sussex Stakes and Trainer Richard Hannon will be hoping he can repeat his run against Goldikova as he cruised past the filly to win the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot. Canford Cliffs is of course a year older than Frankel which should mean he is the stronger horse physically but at this stage it is hard to pick a winner which is reflected in the latest betting. Any punters wanting to take on both Frankel and Canford Cliffs in the race may want to have a closer look at the Aidan O’Brien trained Zoffany who was a close second behind the Sir Henry Cecil horse at Ascot, he can be backed at 8/1 with Boylesports to upset the apple cart and claim an unlikely win. It is hard to look past Canford Cliffs or Frankel here though with their mouthwatering clash on the horizon, the racing community is split on the potential winner at this stage and it seems the punters and bookmakers are in exactly the same boat.

England v India – Test Match Series Betting

July 11, 2011

After edging past Sri Lanka in a thrilling ODI decider at Old Trafford on Saturday, England will now turn their attention to their eagerly anticipated four match Test Series with India. A win for England will be a big statement and a massive step towards becoming the No1 Test side in the world, which is currently held by India. William Hill have England as the marginal 5/4 favourites to win the Test Series, while India are priced at 7/4 and a draw is 5/2.

England have been in excellent form in this form of the game throughout the past couple of years and how they fare against India will be a real indicator of just how far they have come. Andrew Strauss and co emphatically retained the Ashes in Australia earlier this year and recently defeated Sri-Lanka 1-0 in the three match Test Series. With home advantage England will be confident they can pull off a win against India, but they know it will be very touch. Alastair Cook has been in magnificent form in Test cricket and he’ll be looking to continue that into the first match on 21st July. However, captain Strauss has struggled with the bat recently, something he’ll be working extremely hard at to improve before the First Test gets underway.

India are still buzzing from winning the 50-over Cricket World Cup on home soil back in April and have just beaten the West Indies 1-0 in the three match Test Series in the Caribbean. For their trip to England they welcome back Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag, two of the most prolific and feared batsman in world cricket. To add spice to an already intriguing series, this will be Tendulkar’s last tour of England, and he’ll no doubt be looking to go off with a bang.

The four match Test Series commences on the 21st July at Lords. William Hill make England the 15/8 favourites to start off with a win at the home of cricket, while India are available at 5/2 to come away with a win in the First Test, and a draw is 6/5.

The teams then travel to Trent Bridge in Nottingham (29th July – 2nd August), followed by Edgbaston in Birmingham from 10th – 14th August. The final, and potentially deciding, test match will be played at the Oval from 18th-22nd August. The Test Series is definitely going to live up to the hype and there is little to chose between the two teams, both of whom are in cracking form. With odds of 5/1 England look good to clinch the series 2-1.

Man Utd Specials – 2011/12 Trophy Multiples Betting Odds with Betfred

July 8, 2011

Next season Manchester United not only want to continue asserting their dominance domestically but they want to close the gap between themselves and Barcelona, who convincingly defeated them in both the 2009 and 2011 Champions League Finals. In the aftermath of their defeat to Barcelona at Wembley in May, Sir Alex Ferguson acknowledged that the current Barcelona team are the best team he has ever faced during his time as manager. Every team in Europe is currently playing catch-up to Pep Guardiola’s scintillating side, who have been described as one of the best team’s of all time.

Fergie will certainly take no consolation from his United side’s status as the second best team in Europe and he will be more determined than ever to close the gap between United and the Catalans next season. He has already made a few decent summer signings in order to bolster his squad, having borught in the highly rated England Under 21 defender Phil Jones and England regular Ashley Young, plus the talented young goalkeeper David de Gea from Atletico Madrid. The Red Devils are also on the lookout for a replacement for Paul Scholes, who retired last season, and at present have their eye on Arsenal’s Samir Nasri and Tottenham’s Luka Modric.

United are the 7/4 favourites with Betfred to retain their Premier League trophy, in what is already looking to be a very competitive and action-packed 2011/12 season. Fierce local rivals Manchester City will offer their sternest challenge yet, as they continue to bring in high calibre players, including defenders Gael Clichy and Stefan Savic. Chelsea have something to prove under their talented new manager Andre Villas-Boas, while Kenny Dalglish’s Liverpool will provide a much tougher test than last season. If Arsenal and Tottenham can hold onto their best players and make some signings themselves then they will also be in with a shout come the end of the season.

Fergie’s men are available at 8/1 to win the Champions League, 11/2 for both the FA Cup and Carling Cup and 14/1 to win the Premier League and FA Cup double. They also have odds of 100/1 to repeat their historic treble winning season of 1998/99 by winning the Premier League, UEFA Champions League and FA Cup next season.

Boylesports Offering Eight Places Each-Way In Open Championship Betting

July 8, 2011

The 2011 Open Championship at Sandwich is the next Major Championship of the season and it’s shaping up to be a classic tournament, golf is going through a boom in Europe at the moment and any number of players are heading to Sandwich with dreams of lifting the Claret Jug. The British Open is always a different proposition for the players, it is of course the only Major played outside of the US and can often throw up a surprise winner or two making the betting fascinating. There will be no Tiger Woods in Kent this year after he pulled out with an injury but in Rory McIlroy we have a new superstar in the sport and the man from Northern Ireland is the clear favourite to take the win with Boylesports.

The Irish bookmaker Boylesports are offering a fantastic EIGHT PLACES each-way in the British Open betting this year which is an offer that punters cannot afford to miss, such is the quality at the moment in golf that an each-way bet is clearly the best way for punters to get involved. Mcilroy is the warm favourite to take the win after his US Open success last month and he can be backed at 11/2 with Boylesports to lift his second successive Major and his first Claret Jug. Punters may want to look further down the list though with an each-way bet in mind, and one that could have a great week is Nick Watney of America who is bang in form at the moment, he recently won the AT&T in the US and can be backed a great looking each-way price of 25/1 with Boylesports to win his first Major at Royal St Georges.

At the moment golf is being dominated by the Europeans and perhaps the most exciting young talent on tour at the moment is the Italian Matteo Manassero who despite still being a teenager is taking the European Tour by storm at the moment. Manassero is massively talented and while it might be a stretch for him to win at such a young age it is easy to imagine him putting together four good rounds, with that in mind his current price of 40/1 with Boylesports looks excellent value with eight places on offer. Golf can often prove be a tough sport to pick an outright winner for but with Boylesports offering this fantastic special it gives punters a great chance to make this year’s Open Championship a profitable one.

ODI Betting – England Win Sets Up Decider

July 7, 2011

England responded in classy fashion on Wednesday as they recovered from back-to-back defeats to thump Sri Lanka by 10 wickets and level the ODI series 2-2. The win thus sets up a pulsating decider at Old Trafford on Saturday, with England brimming with confidence.

England’s bowlers were on fine form as they made light work of Sri Lanka, bowling them all out for a measly 171. James Anderson impressed with figures of 3-24, with Jade Dernbach also on song finishing with 3-38, while Tim Bresnan and Stuart Broad collected two wickets each.

For the second match in succession captain Alastair Cook led by example as he and fellow opening batsman Craig Kieswetter rapidly closed down the 171 target. The dynamic duo were on scintillating form, with Cook ending on 95 not out and Kieswetter on 72 not out as they swept away all deliveries before them. Betfred have priced cook at 7/2 to finish the Fifth ODI match as England’s Top Batsman, while Kieswetter is a good shout at 4/1, as is Jonathan Trott.

England will now go into the fifth and final ODI international in high spirits and fully confident they can put on a repeat performance and romp to victory. England are now the 4/6 favourites with Betfred to win the Fifth ODI and thus win the series, while Sri Lanka are available at odds of 6/5 to pull off a win.

Carlos Tevez Specials – Next Club Betting Odds With Paddy Power

July 6, 2011

The Carlos Tevez transfer saga is now in full swing after the striker reiterated his desire to leave Eastlands due to family reasons. Manchester City have reportedly slapped a whopping £50million price tag on their captain and most influential player, a hefty sum that will no doubt limit the amount of suiters. Tevez’s workrate and desire cannot be questioned; neither can his record for City – an impressive 53 goals in 86 games. But, the 27-year-old is a contentious player who is very difficult to manage. His child-like tantrums are disruptive to the dressing room and team morale, which the club’s chasing his signature will have to bear in mind before they shed out a ton of money for his services.

At present, it appears that Spain and Italy are the Argentine’s most likely destinations, with Jose Mourinho’s free-spending Real Madrid the 7/4 favourites with Paddy Power to snap up the controversial player. The Italian giants Inter Milan (4/1) and AC Milan (6/1) are also in the running, as are Chelsea with odds of 4/1, which would be a shock move, although we wouldn’t rule it out as we all know loyalty isn’t something people usually associate with Tevez.

What about a return to his homeland Argentina? At 10/1 Boca Juniors may well be worth a  punt. Tevez has stated that he wants to be closer to his family and with Boca Juniors located in Buenos Aires – the place of his wife and children’s residence – the move definitely looks tempting for the player. However, it is unlikely that his former club will be able to match City’s valuation and the player’s huge £200,000 plus wage demands.

Other club’s in with a chance of signing Tevez include Juventus and Barcelona who are both priced at 10/1, and also Atletico Madrid at 12/1. Tevez for a dramatic return to Championship club West Ham at 100/1 anyone?
