Wayne Rooney The Early Favourite In 2011/12 PFA Player Of The Year Betting
July 29, 2011
We may still be in the middle of pre-season but already the betting is live about which player will pick up the prestigious PFA Player Of The Year Award at the end of the upcoming campaign. Gareth Bale picked up the prize last season after a fine year for Spurs and there is plenty of value on offer for punters wanting to pick which player will follow in his footsteps over the next 12 months. At the moment there is no surprise to see Wayne Rooney heading the market with Paddy Power with the Man United Striker set to spearhead the defence of their Premier League crown, if Rooney is successful it will be the second time he has won the award having picked it up back in 2010.
Rooney started to come good again during the second half of last season after slowish start by his standards and it would be no surprise to see him hit the ground running when the campaign begins in the middle of August, Rooney can be backed at 15/2 with Paddy Power to win the award. United are the clear favourites to lift the Premier League again and as such their players feature heavily in the Player Of the Year Betting with Javier Hernandez joining Rooney towards the top of the market. The Little Pea had a brilliant first season in England despite being relatively unknown before his move from Mexico, he picks up crucial goals and crucial times and he is available at 12/1 with Paddy Power to win the PFA Award this season.
Outside of the United players in the list there are a number of top players who could have a great season and they could be worth an outside punt at this stage of pre-season, one that we like here is Luis Suarez at Liverpool who has been a roaring success since joining in January. The Uruguayan has just been successful in the Copa America as his country lifted the trophy and he picked up the prestigious player of the tournament award for himself, with that in mind he is bang in form and looks a nice price at 20/1 with Paddy Power to be named the PFA Player Of The Year for the 2011/12 Premier League season.

July 28, 2011
It was a massive shock when Jennifer Lopez and Husband Marc Anthony recently announced their split after a number of years together but already attention is turning any future boyfriend that JLo maybe considering. The pop star and actor is enjoying something of a career renaissance at the moment following her turn as a American Idol judge but the same can not be said of her private life as she faces up to another marriage break up. Lopez has enjoyed a number of high profile relationships in the past having dated the likes of Sean ‘P Diddy’ Combs and Ben Affleck among others and Paddy Power have op end up a market on who they believe could be next on the arm of the Out Of Sight actress.
The odds on favourite to be confirmed as Jennifer Lopez’s boyfriend is Cuban Actor and model William Levy who himself has just split from a long time relationship. Levy and Lopez would make an ideal couple although Levy is considerably younger at just 30, Levy can be backed at 8/11 with Paddy Power to be confirmed as the new beau of JLo. There have been a number of rumours flying around that Levey and Lopez were already together following his appearance in one of her music videos, and while the claims have been denied there would be no surprise to see the pair together.
Outside of Levy there are a number of other potential suitors for Lopez to consider and there is unlikely to be a shortage of volunteers, perhaps the most interesting name on the list is that of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs who of course dated Lopez some years back. The pair were together for some time and punters who believe that spark could be rekindled can get a price of 11/4 with Paddy Power, it would be a little bit of a surprise if they were reunited but little comes as a shock in the showbiz world these days. There are one or two more unlikely candidates on the list for punters including Simon Cowell who is a 33/1 shot and Prince Harry who can be backed at 200/1 to be confirmed as JLo’s new boyfriend.

Nathaniel Slashed In Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe Betting After King George Win
July 27, 2011
We may only be midway through the flat season in Europe but already attention is starting to turn to October and the Arc De Triomphe at Longchamp for what remains the most prestigious race of the season. It is a race that brings the best horses from across Europe of all ages to Paris with a massive prize pot and we look to have a good crop of three year-old horse this season including the highly exciting and progressive Nathaniel. The John Gosden horse has improved beyond belief over the past few months and that has culminated with his win in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot, he took on and beat the 2010 Arc winner Workforce while also forcing the excellent St Nichols Abbey back into third.
Following the nature of Nathaniel’s win at Ascot the bookmakers were quick to react with Paddy Power making him a 6/1 shot to claim success in the Arc. Such is the rise of Nathaniel this season that at the time when the Arc entries were made he had not even won his maiden meaning he will have to be supplemented by connections for the race. That looks like an increasingly scenario at this stage following his win over Workforce who hung alarmingly to his left during the King George, he must not be ignored in the Arc betting though as he looks to defend his crown and Workforce can also be backed at 6/1 with Paddy Power.
The current Arc favourite at this stage is another three year-old in Epsom Derby winner Pour Moi, the horse is trained by Andre Fabre who has a remarkable record in the Arc and Pour Moi can be backed at 3/1 with Paddy Power.com to follow in the steps of Workforce and Sea The Stars in winning the Derby and the Arc in the same season. There is no doubt that with the record of Fabre in the Arc Pour Moi deserves the full respect from punters, he will be produced late at Longchamp as he was at Epsom and it will be whether or not he has the speed to muscle his way past the older horses as he did to those of his age.

New Zealand Odds On for Another Tri Nations Success According to Latest Betting
July 25, 2011
New Zealand have dominated the Tri Nations tournament since its inception and the All Blacks are expected to prove too strong again this season as the big three teams in the southern hemisphere clash heads in their annual competition. It is a slightly condensed tournament this year with the teams playing fewer matches to avoid burnout before the all important Rugby World Cup which starts in September. The World Cup will also be held in New Zealand and that is clearly their main priority for the All Blacks in 2011, having said that they will want to go into the tournament on a high and the Tri Nations is a tournament they love winning.
There is plenty of betting interest in the Tri Nations this year with the World Cup approaching and Boylesports are making the All Blacks the clear odds on favourite for the win, the team led by Captain Richie McCaw can be backed at 3/10 to claim the overall Tri Nations win. Coach Graham Henry is sure to rotate his squad during the tournament with the World Cup in mind with the worry of burn out a potential issue later in the year, such is the strength of the All Blacks squad though that they should have no problem in cruising through the Tri Nations. New Zealand will be under massive pressure to win the World Cup on home soil so they will be keen to avoid any injuries or player burnout against their southern hemisphere rivals.
South Africa have all but written off the Tri Nations this season as they turn their attention to the defence of the World Cup later in the year, they have effectively chosen to take a ‘B’ Team to the Tri Nations and as they showed when losing to the Aussies in game one they are going to struggle to compete. The South Africans are clearly worried about picking up injuries and they will be hoping that one or two of their youngsters can stake a claim to be included in their World Cup squad for New Zealand in September and October. South Africa are given next to no chance of winning the Tri Nations by Boylesports and are the rank outsiders at 16/1 while the young Aussie team are available at 5/2 with the same firm to win the 2011 Tri Nations.

Gary Barlow The Favourite In 2011 X Factor Winning Judge Betting
July 22, 2011
We are now fast approaching the first appearance on our screens of the 2011 X Factor Series and it will be a much changed show this series with three new judges taking their seats on the panel. The new faces are Take That singer Gary Barlow, former Destinys Child star Kelly Rowland and N-Dubz singer Tulisa Contostavlos who have replaced the outgoing Simon Cowell, Dannii Minogue and Cheryl Cole with Louis Walsh holding onto his job. Most now see Gary Barlow as the new head judge and his popularity with fans make him the favourite to be the winning Manager according to Bet365, they make him a 11/5 shot to mentor the winner of the new series.
It is very early at this stage to have a bet on the series but this is often the best time to get the value as we wait for the audition stage of the show to appear on our screens. Cheryl Cole proved that you do not have to have the best act on your hands to come out on top with her popularity giving her acts a massive boost when it came to the live public vote each Saturday night. The bookmakers are expecting the same thing to happen to Barlow and his acts while Bet365.com are unable to split the remaining three judges in the winning Manager betting which always proves a popular market.
It would be no surprise to see Louis Walsh go all the way this year as he is sure to have plenty of support from the public as the only remaining original judge, this is despite the fact that Walsh has never won the show as a judge. Punters wanting to back Walsh to be the winning judge on the new series can get 11/4 with Bet365 and that could prove value if he finds himself with a top group of acts. The popularity of Kelly Rowland and Tulisa will be interesting as well with their fan bases completely different, the bookmakers are struggling to split them and they are both also available at 11/4 with Bet365.com to win the series on debut. It is a massive year for the X Factor in the UK as they look to soak up the losses of Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole, but all the signs are that it could be as strong as ever and if the early betting is anything to go by we are in for an exciting series.

As Always Celtic And Rangers Dominate SPL Betting As New Season Starts
July 22, 2011
Most teams around Europe have only just returned to pre-season training but this weekend sees the new Scottish Premier League season start and once again we can all look forward to long Old Firm Battle. There is a early start to the SPL season this year as they look to avoid the difficult weather in the winter and while that is not to every ones liking it could prove to be a good idea when matches start to succumb to the weather around Christmas time. All eyes are on Ibrox this season as they look to make it four wins in a-row in the SPL with ally McCoist taking the hot seat following the retirement of Walter Smith back in May.
As always there are only two teams involved in the Outright SPL win betting with Celtic and Rangers set to fight it out for the title once more, at the moment Paddy are slightly favourite Celtic to turn the table on their Glasgow rivals. Neil Lennon will be desperate to lead Celtic to SPL glory this season and they are priced at 8/11 to lift the trophy for the first time since 2008 with Irish bookmaker Paddy Power. It was a tight title race last season and Lennon will be looking to add one or two more players to his squad before the transfer window closes which will be important if they are to turn the tide against Rangers.
The blue half of Ibrox have been celebrating for the past three years and McCoist will be under pressure to carry on the success of Walter Smith, he is a legend at the club but does not have any Managerial experience of his own which could be a slight worry for Rangers fans. Paddy Power have taken note of this and they make Rangers the slight underdogs at a price of 11/10, it really is a matter of opinion for punters to pick between the two but the early part of the season is likely to be crucial. Anyone wanting to have a bet outside of the two two may want to have a look at Hearts who have made good progress and are available at 50/1 with Paddy Power to win the league outright, that looks hard to imagine but they could be the team to follow in the Without Celtic and Rangers Betting.

Billy Foster The Favourite In Next Tiger Woods Permanent Caddie Betting
July 21, 2011
Tiger Woods may be out of the game of golf at the moment with an injury but he continues to make the headlines, this time it is following his decision to split with longtime caddie and friend Steve Williams. The pair have been together since 1999 and as a partnership they have won 13 Major Championships but Woods has been in the doldrums for some time now and it is clear he is looking to kick start his flagging career when he returns from injury. Woods has not won a Major since 2008 and has slipped down the rankings since the scandal around his private life emerged at the back end of 2009. As well as that Woods is in the middle of trying to rebuild his swing whilst dealing with a number of worrying injuries which have seen him miss the US and British Opens already this season making the appointment of a new Caddie vital for his return to golf.
The next big decision for Woods will be to decide which Caddie will replace Steve Williams on a permanent basis and according to Skybet the favourite to be on the bag is the massively experienced Billy Foster. Woods and Foster had one tournament together back in 2005 and many believe his experience with the likes of Seve Ballesteros and his current partnership with Lee Westwood make him the obvious candidate. SkyBet rate Billy Foster as a 5/2 shot to join Woods on a permanent basis, much will depend on his current partnership with Lee Westwood who of course is enjoying the best spell of his career so far and sits at number two in the world rankings.
A few years ago there would have been a queue forming by the Caddies to carry the clubs of Tiger Woods but it remains to be seen whether or not that desire remains as strong with Woods struggling for form and injuries at the moment. Another Caddie in the betting is Ricci Roberts who has had a long time association with Ernie Els and is well respected in the game, Roberts can be backed at a price of 5/1 with Skybet to take Tigers bag and it could be worth a bet with Els showing no signs of returning to his best form. Tiger’s first caddie when he came on tour was the famous Mike ‘Fluff’ Cowan who was there when Tiger lifted his first Major at the Masters in 1997 and there are one or two suggestions he could return. Cowan can be backed at 9/2 with Skybet to take the job back permanently and it may be the case that Tiger looks to go back to someone he knows as he struggles to regain his best form.
Next Permanent Tiger Woods Caddie Betting with Skybet
- >5/2 – Billy Foster

Amir Khan Odds On To Defeat Zab Judah In Light Welterweight Unification Clash
July 20, 2011
Amir Khan could face his toughest test as a professional this weekend as he takes on Zab Judah in a unification bout in Las Vegas, but the bookies are confident the man from Bolton will have too much for his 33-year-old opponent. Khan has been rebuilding his career since his one loss to Breidis Prescott a few years back and after claiming the World title against Andreas Kotelnik in 2009 he has gone from strength to strength under the tutelage of Freddie Roach. Khan moved to America after his one defeat to join the Wild Card Gym and Freddie Roach and that has proven to be a great decision, his speed and power has improved beyond recognition and that should prove too much for Judah this weekend.
Khan is coming off of a succession of good wins over the past few years and goes into the Zab Judah fight as the odds on favourite to take the win, Khan can be backed at 1/5 with Betfred to claim the win by any method at the Mandalay Bay. Judah is an experienced campaigner and a multiple World Champion so he will be no pushover but the speed of Khan is likely to prove too much, Khan can be backed to win the fight by KO or DQ at a price of 4/5 with Betfred.com and that could prove a nice bet on Saturday.
Zab Judah is the current IBF Light-Welterweight Champion so is clearly a top class fighter and Betfred have taken note of that making him a 7/2 chance to claim the win by any method against Khan. The New York fighter has been in with the best during his career so will not be overwhelmed on the big stage but it has to be said that he has come up short on a number of occasions when in with the very best. Khan will be aware of that and his youth and speed should prove too much for the experienced Judah in what is a massive fight for the Brit and his future career. A good win for Khan on Saturday will see him become the unified Champion at 140lbs and set up a possible mega fight against the winner of the Floyd Mayweather and Victor Ortiz bout in September.
Amir Khan v Zab Judah Fight Odds with Betfred
Method Of Victory
- 4/5 – Khan to win by TKO or DQ
- 2/1 – Khan by decision
- 6/1 – Judah byKO or DQ
- 8/1 – Judah by decision

Spain The Team To Beat According To Latest Davis Cup Outright Betting
July 19, 2011
We are now down to the last four of the 2011 Davis Cup Tennis and there is no surprise to see Spain at the head of the market as they aim to win the team competition for the fifth time in their history. Spain have been the dominant force since winning for the first time in 2000 and it is hard to argue with their status as favourites with Boylesports, the Irish Bookmaker rate the Spanish as a 5/4 shot to win the tournament which reflects the strength of their team at the moment. Such is the strength of the Spanish squad at the moment that they manged to comfortably dispatch the USA in the Quarter-Finals without needing to select their best player Rafa Nadal for the tie in Texas.
The closest opposition to the Spanish and there likely final opponents are expected to be defending Champions Serbia who with Novak Djokovic leading them will be expected to beat Argentina in their Semi-Final match up. Djokovic is without doubt the best player in the world at the moment and his remarkable run of form in 2011 was sparked by his brilliant performance in the Davis Cup Final last season as the Serbs defeated France in a tight final. Punters wanting to back Djokovic and the Serbs to defend their title can get a price of 6/4 with Boyleports, they look the clear favourites in the last four against Argentina which is likely to set up a home tie against the Spanish in the final.
The Spanish are likely to prove too strong for France in the Semi-Finals with the tie set to take place on clay later in the year, Nadal is likely to join the likes of David Ferrer, Feliciano Lopez and Fernando Verdasco in what is looking like the strongest team left in the tournament. It is worth considering though that should as expected Spain and Serbia reach the Final, the matches will be played in Serbia which is a massive advantage for Novak Djokovic and his squad which makes the Serbs a genuine threat. A Serbia v Spain final is a mouth watering prospect with Nadal and Djokovic set to meet in what could be a titanic tussle at the end of the year, Djovkovic has been on top of Nadal in general over the last year and if that trend continues we could be set to see Serbia retain their title.

Darren Clarke Odds On In Sports Personality Of the Year Betting After Open Success
July 18, 2011
The Sports Personality Of The Year Betting has been one of the most competitive of the year and we have another new favourite after Darren Clarke won the Open Championship at Royal St Georges, the man from Northern Ireland started the week as a rank outsider but ended it as a Major winner and was taken to the Nations heart at the same time. Clarke has been one of the most popular players on tour for many years now but most believed he had missed the chance to lift a Major title at 42, he defied the critics though to play four excellent rounds at Sandwich and lift the Claret Jug by three clear shots.
Clarke has usurped his fellow countryman Rory McIlroy at the top of the Sports Personality Of the Year Betting with Paddy Power and he is now as shorts as 1/2 with Paddy Power to lift the prestigious award at the end of the year. It is hard to see the public not backing Clarke when the lines open, he has been through so very public tough times during his career but seems to have some out the other side a better player which is sure to count in his favour. It does look like a straight battle between Clarke and McIlroy to be crowned Sports Personality of the Year and it should be an interesting contest.
Mcilroy was expected to cruise to the award this year after he won the US Open in stunning style in June but he will now face an uphill task against countryman Clarke, McIlroy has been on the drift since Clarkes Open win and is now available at 7/4 with Paddy Power to win. It is likely that McIlroy will need to win the final Major of the year, the USPGA Championship in Atlanta, if he is to have a chance of defeating Clarke in the SPOTY Betting and that should be factored in by punters when having a bet in this market. At this stage it really does look like a two horse race with Mcilroy and Clarke heading the field and looking like the ones to beat in the SPOTY Betting, only a Rugby World Cup win for England may upset the odds but even that is unlikely to see Clarke lose out.
