Paddy Power Money Back Special: Chelsea v Tottenham

April 28, 2011

Chelsea tackle Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening at 5:15pm and Paddy Power have some juicy money back specials for you to enjoy. If there are four or more goals in the match then Paddy Power will refund all losing first and last goalscorer bets and also the correct score and scorecast singles. In addition the bookmakers are offering a ‘Half-time saver’ where they will refund all losing 4 folds and upwards if your bet is winning at half-time but not at-full time.

Chelsea v Tottenham is always an engaging spectacle, yet Saturday’s match has added importance due to the teams respective positions in the league. After an impressive run of form Chelsea have stormed back in contention for the Premier League title and Carlo Ancelotti’s men are now just six points adrift of leaders Manchester United. On the other hand Tottenham desperately need a win to keep their Champions League prospects alive. Both sides will be going out hammer and tongs for the win so expect some fireworks and controversial incidents.

The teams head into this pivotal match in contrasting form. Spurs have only won once in their last ten games whilst Chelsea have been in superb form winning seven of their last eight league games. It therefore comes as no surprise that Paddy Power have Chelsea as the favourites at 1/2, with Tottenham priced at 6/1 and a draw at 3/1. But, while Tottenham have a pitiful record at Chelsea and have not won at the Bridge since 1990, they have however only lost one of their last seven games against their London rivals.

After what seemed like an eternal barren patch Fernando Torres finally netted his first goal for Chelsea against West Ham last weekend and Paddy Power have the Spaniard priced at 9/2 to open the scoring against Spurs. The match is likely to be a close affair which could be decided by just a single goal, with Chelsea looking good at 13/2 to clinch it 2-1.

Chelsea v Tottenham Match Odds

  • 1/2 – Chelsea
  • 6/1 – Tottenham
  • 3/1 – Draw

Match Specials

  • 12/1 – Draw at half-time and Tottenham win
  • 25/1 – Fernando Torres hat-trick
  • 325/1 – the match ends 4-4

Every 2nd Counts At Punchestown and Newmarket with Boylesports

April 28, 2011

Over the next few days we are set to enjoy the very best of flat and Jumps racing in the UK and Ireland and Boylesports have reacted by offering punters a great money back special for both the flat card on 2000 Guineas day, and the first day of the Punchestown Festival on Tuesday. The Irish bookmakers are offering a great refund for punters whose win selections finish 2nd in any race at Newmarket on Saturday including the 2000 Guineas or on Tuesday for the first day of the Punchestown Festival.

The 2000 Guineas is of course the highlight at Newmarket on Saturday and with Frankel such a hot favourite with Boylesports the money back special looks an excellent way for punters to get involved with the race knowing they have a great safety net in place. The Henry Cecil trained Frankel is all the rage and will go off a massive favourite for the for the first classic of the season but with the money back special on offer from Boylesports the likes of Pathfork and Roderic O’Connor are likely to prove popular as punters look to take on the favourite.

The Punchestown Festival is of course the Irish equivalent of the Cheltenham festival and the first day of the meeting on Tuesday looks to be the best of the week, with no less than three Grade 1 races on the card for punters to sink their teeth into. The big race of the day on Tuesday will be the Boylesports Punchestown Champion Chase with Sizing Europe and Big Zeb set to go head-to-head following their recent battle at Cheltenham, punters can have a bet on either of them knowing that should their selection finish 2nd they will have their stake refunded.

Westwood and Kaymer Joint Favourites To End 2011 As Number 1 Golfer

April 27, 2011

For the best part of the last decade the World Number 1 golfer has been Tiger Woods by some distance but following a dip in form from Woods there are a number of players squabbling over the position at the top of the tree. Woods of course has not won a  tournament since 2009 and as a result the likes of Lee Westwood and Martin Kaymer have had spells on top of the world over the past few months. It really has given an extra angle to the tournaments this season and VC Bet have recognised this by opening up a market on who will be at the head of the rankings on the 31st December 2011.

At the moment it is Lee Westwood who sits at the top of the rankings after regaining the spot from Martin Kaymer following his win in the Indonesian Masters recently. The Englishman has been the most consistent player in the world over the past two years and that is reflected in his price of 10/3 with VC Bet about holding the No 1 ranking at the end of 2011. Punters can get the same price with Victor Chandler about Kaymer sitting at the top of the rankings at the end of the season and that could prove good value for a player who won the USPGA Championship so well at Whistling Straits last season.

Another major contender to end the season as World No 1 is Luke Donald who is in the form of his life at the moment, he won the WGC World Match Play recently as well as coming in second in the Heritage following a sudden death play-off defeat to Bubba Watson. As already mentioned the World Gold rankings reward consistency making the 5/1 about Donald ending the year on top of the world a nice looking bet at this stage of the season. Tiger Woods has struggled for consistency which is why he has slipped down the rankings but the bookmakers are wary of a Tiger comeback and VC Bet have priced him up at 4/1 to regain some form and end the season at Number 1 in the World.

World Golf Ranking Number 1 on Dec 31st 2011 Betting

  • 10/310/3 – Lee Westwood
  • 10/3 – Martin Kaymer
  • 4/1 – Tiger Woods
  • 5/1 – Luke Donald
  • 5/1 – Phil Mickelson
  • 10/1 – Graeme McDowell
  • 12/1 – Rory McIlroy
  • 33/1 – Paul Casey

Round Three: Real Madrid v Barcelona

April 27, 2011

The third chapter of this four-part saga sparks into life tonight at the Bernabeu as Real Madrid take on Barcelona in the semi-finals of the Champions League. The two matches so far have been predictably close encounters and tonight’s match is expected to be a similar story with virtually nothing separating the two sides. Victor Chandler offer Real Madrid at 13/8 and Barcelona at 15/8 but a draw might be the way to go at 23/10.

Pep Guardiola’s uncharacteristic outburst this week may give some indication of the immense pressure he is under and it also shows that Jose Mourinho’s mind games are in full flow. Mourinho and his players will be the more confident party following their hard fought 1-0 win over Barcelona in the Copa del Rey last week. Madrid executed to perfection a defensive formula that was extremely effective in nullifying Barcelona’s attacking potency. Mourinho’s team showed their mental strength, patience and resilience as they were more than content to sit back and wait for their chance to break on the counter attack, and then when it came in extra time they took it with open arms. Christiano Ronaldo was the match winner on that occasion and with two goals in his last two appearances against Barcelona looks good at 19/4 with Victor Chandler to open the scoring.

Last weekend the truly outstanding Lionel Messi scored what was remarkably his 50th goal of the season and with nine goals in Europe so far he can be found at 19/4 to score first tonight at the Bernabeu. The third El Classico in nine days looks to be another tight game and at 11/2 a 1-1 draw is a good punt. Neither club will want to expose themselves in the first-leg so expect the fireworks to come in the return fixture at the Nou Camp next week. However, there could be late drama at the Bernabeu and Victor Chandler have odds of 33/1 goal for the first goal to be scored in the 86-90 minute time band.

Man Utd 11/2 to win 1-0 at Schalke 04

April 21, 2011

Manchester United’s quest to make their third Champions League Final in four years sees them take on the nifty German side Schalke 04 in the semi-finals. United outclassed Chelsea in the quarter-finals whilst Schalke pummelled the holders Inter Milan 7-3 on aggregate in the previous round to set up this compelling fixture. The first-leg takes place in Germany at the Vettins-Arena on Tuesday 26th April with the return match at Old Trafford on Wednesday 4th May. Manchester United head into the first-leg as favourites for the match with Boylesports at 23/20 and favourites to qualify for the final at short odds of 1/4.

On paper United may be the clear favourites but Schalke may well be worth a gamble at 23/10 to win the first-leg as United don’t have the best of records against German sides in the competition. However, United do have a rather outstanding away record in the Champions League having only lost two of their last 22 games away from Old Trafford. Sir Alex Ferguson’s men have won four of their five Champions League away games this season, scoring six goals in the process, and they are available at 11/2 with Boylesports to win 1-0 away from home in Europe for the fourth time this season. United are also priced at 22/1 to win 1-0 with Wayne Rooney scoring the only goal of the game.

United may have been relieved to not play Inter Milan but they will be fully aware that Schalke are no pushovers – as the German side’s stunning 5-2 win at the San Siro explicitly emphasised. In their ranks they have the Champions League all-time record goalscorer – the legendary Raul – who has been in fine form since his summer switch to Germany. The Spanish striker has notched five goals in the competition this season taking his tally up to an impressive 71 goals and the 33-year-old is available at 6/1 to open the scoring and 2/1 to score at anytime during the match.

Despite their woeful league form Schalke have impressed in the Champions League this season and are now unbeaten in nine matches matches, having not lost since their opening group match defeat away to Lyon. Schalke are also unbeaten in their last five Champions League home games, conceding only three goals in those games and keeping two clean sheets, and Boylesports have them priced at 19/5 to win Tuesday’s match with a clean sheet.

Victor Chandler North London Derby Specials

April 20, 2011

Following their respective PFA Award wins yesterday, the bookies Victor Chandler are offering some money-back deals on Gareth Bale and Jack Wilshere. If either Tottenham’s electric winger Gareth Bale or Arsenal’s wonderkid Jack Wilshere score at anytime during tonight’s match, Victor Chandler will refund all losing First Goalscorer, Correct Score and Half Time/Full Time stakes as a Free Bet.

Tonight’s match is a must-win for both London sides. Not only is local pride at stake but the Premier League title race hangs in the balance as does qualification for next season’s Champions League. Following Manchester United’s goalless draw with Newcastle last night, Arsenal (for the umpteenth time this season) have the chance to claw themselves back into the title race by narrowing the gap between themselves and United to just four points. On the other hand Tottenham desperately need the three points to draw level with Manchester City as the two clubs fight it out for the fourth Champions League spot. Spurs had a fantastic run in this year’s Champions League and are gunning for a return to Europe’s elite tournament. Failure to qualify could result in an exodus of players, including their most prized asset Gareth Bale.

Harry Redknapp’s side will be looking for their third straight league win over Arsenal and their first league double over the Gunners since 1993. Tottenham came back from two goals down to defeat Arsenal 3-2 at the Emirates earlier this season and they can be backed at 22/1 with Victor Chandler to win by the same scoreline tonight. This fixture is known for the plethora of goals the games produce and there have been ten goals in the last two meetings alone. Who can forget the dramatic 4-4 draw two season’s ago in Redknapp’s first game in charge or Arsenal’s thrilling 5-4 win at White Hart Lane back in 2004. You can definitely count on fireworks tonight at The Lane.

UK Could Be Set To End Blue Run According To Latest Eurovision Betting

April 20, 2011

We now just weeks away from the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest in Germany and with the latest betting now starting to hot up there are a number of countries being backed to perform well in Dusseldorf on the 14th May. The UK have a terrible record in the competition over the past ten years but the bookmakers believe that could end this year with Blue set to take to the stage in the hope of avoiding the dreaded ‘Nil Poi’ from the voters around Europe. In recent years we have seen block voting take prominence in the Eurovision song contest with main land Europe voting for their next door neighbours leaving the UK out in the cold, that could change this year though with Blue set to rely on a strong fan base from their younger boy band days.

Blue will be entering the contest with the song I can and Stan James believe they have a chance of winning and have priced them at just 7/1 to do just that, much of that is down to the reliance on the popularity of Blue who during the first part of the 21st Century were one of the biggest boy bands in Europe. The lads have been touring Europe to drum up much needed support for the UK who came bottom of the whole pile in 2010, with that in mind it would be a remarkable turnaround for them to claim the win in Germany.

In recent years the Eastern Block countries have dominated the competition with tactical voting and the strongest of those nations this year looks to be Estonia who are as short as 6/1 with Stan James to win for the second time in their history. It would be no surprise to see them triumph again this year but the ones to beat look to be France who are the market leaders at just 4/1 to win, their song is sung by Amaury Vassili and all the rumours suggest it is a potential winner of the competition. It could be that the UK could well be the dark horse this year with Blue set to be the most famous entrants in the competition with an army of female fans to rely on from across Europe which should secure them at least a respectable amount of votes.
