Ryan Moore Even Money To Be Champion Flat Jockey Again
March 31, 2011
Its only a matter of days since the dust settled on the Cheltenham Festival but already our attention has turned to the flat season in horse Racing and in particular the race to become the Champion jockey. Last season we had a surprise winner in Paul Hanagan who took the title from Ryan Moore in a tight battle with Richard Hughes, Victor Chandler believe that it will be a titanic battle once again with Moore a warm order to regain the Championship for a fourth time. In simple terms, the flat Jockeys Championship is awarded to the jockey who picks up the most wins, Hanagan was successful last year as he was prepared to go around the country to pick up any number of rides he could and he will have to do the same again if he is to have a chance of repeating his success.
Moore on the other hand has relied on the ammunition he receives from the Sir Michael Stoute yard in particular and he will always be on a horse with a chance whether that’s in the Epsom Derby or a cold night at Wolverhampton on the all-weather surface. That is the reason behind the short looking price of Evens for Moore with VC Bet while Hanagan is priced up at 7/2 with the same firm to take the title for a second time, and while he faces an uphill task punters can be sure he will put everything in.
The other two names in the frame are Richard Hughes and Kieren Fallon who has made it clear that the jockeys Championship is something that he is once again craving, Fallon is already a six-time Champion jockey but a seventh win at this stage of his career would surely be the highlight. Punters wanting to back Kieren Fallon to be the Champion Jockey on the flat in 2011 can currently get a price of 11/4 with VC Bet, and that could prove an attractive bet for a jockey of the very highest quality. Richard Hughes meanwhile fell slightly short last season and he has stated that he will only go for the title should he be in contention by the time that Glorious Goodwood comes around at the end of July, which explains his odds of 7/1 to be the Top jockey in the UK.
Flat Championship Jockey Odds 2011
- Evens – Ryan Moore
- 11/4 – Kieren Fallon

On form West Ham ready for United challenge
March 30, 2011
Following a two week break due to the international fixtures the Premier League returns on Saturday, with West Ham v Manchester United the pick of the games. United have been draw specialists away from Old Trafford this season, having being held in 11 of their 15 matches on the road. After a poor first half of the season West Ham have vastly improved of late and will be more than confident of pulling off a result, with Victor Chandler’s odds of a draw at 13/5 being more than a just a likely possibility.
West Ham have won three of their last five matches, form not usually associated with relegation strugglers. The Hammers lost 3-0 at Old Trafford earlier in the season but they can draw confidence from their 4-0 demolition of United in the Carling Cup at Upton Park back in November, and Victor Chandler are offering odds of 150/1 for a repeat scoreline. Jonathan Spector and Carlton Cole both got a brace in that game and Cole is priced at 11/1 to score 2 or more this Saturday. Demba Ba has been in fine form for West Ham since he joined in January and can be backed to score first with Victor Chandler at 8/1, or at 9/5 to score at any point in the match. West Ham will be wary of Wayne Rooney, who has scored 4 goals in his last 5 games against them, with the striker available at 17/4 to open the scoring.
Sir Alex Ferguson will no doubt have one eye on his side’s Champions League encounter with Chelsea on the Tuesday but the United boss is still likely to field a strong team as he looks to extend United’s lead over Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table. However, United will have to improve on their poor recent away form, which has seen them lose 3 of their last 4 away games, including a 2-1 defeat to West Ham’s relegation rivals Wolverhampton. United also have a couple of injury concerns ahead of the game, with Ji-sung Park and Darren Fletcher hoping to recover from knocks.
Manchester United are still favourites however, with Victor Chandler pricing them at 5/6 to win at Upton Park. West Ham are 18/5 to win whilst a draw is 13/5.
West Ham United v Manchester United Specials with Victor Chandler:
- 66/1 – Jonathan Spector to score 2 or more goals
- 18/1 – Wayne Rooney to score a hat-trick
- 16/1 – West Ham to be leading at half-time with the game finishing a draw at full-time

X Factor special: Lily Allen 2/1 to become judge
March 30, 2011
Popstar Lily Allen is the favourite to join the judging panel on this year’s X Factor after rumoured to have been offered a six figure sum to join the team, and Boylesports are offering 2/1 that she accepts. The ‘Smile’ singer is well known for her straight talking, sharp tongue and wit and would be a valued addition to the team. If Allen were to accept it would be an interesting u-turn as she has not been shy of criticising the show in the past. Take That’s Gary Barlow is also in the running at 3/1, with Nicole Scheringer and Katy Perry – both of whom had brief spells on the panel last year – at 5/1 and 7/1 respectively. The dynamic duo Jedward are an outside bet at 100/1 to take up the sought after position.
A vacancy is also open for presenter of the supporting show ‘The Xtra Factor’ as last year’s host Konnie Huq won’t be returning. Boylesports go 9/4 that Sky Sports News presenter Georgie Thompson will take up the mantel on the popular show, with the Dancing on Ice runner up Laura Hamilton at 5/2. Katie Price may be worth a cheeky punt at 50/1 to host the show.
X Factor judging panel odds with Boylesports:
- Lily Allen – 2/1
- Gary Barlow – 3/1
- Nicole Scherzinger – 5/1
- Katy Perry – 7/1
- Will Young – 8/1
- Robbie Williams – 8/1

FHM Sexiest Women In The World Odds Point To Rihanna
March 30, 2011
It is that time of year again as thousands of men around the world cast their votes in the all-important Sexiest Women In The World Poll for FHM, and the betting for the crown this year is looking as tight as ever with a number of ladies in contention. Paddy Power are keeping a close eye on the market as you would expect and they believe that Katy Perry and Rihanna are the two fighting it out to take the coveted title, this comes after a year where both ladies have been at the height of their fame and have been building an army of both female and male admirers. At this stage both Perry and Rihanna can be backed at 15/8 to take the crown with Rihanna the more likely of the two following a successful year both in the charts and in terms of her celebrity rising.
The reigning Champion and current World Sexiest Women is Cheryl Cole who is going for an unprecedented third win-in-row, but there is just a feeling that her star has fallen somewhat in 2011 and that is reflected in her latest price of 9/4 with Paddy Power to top the poll. It would be foolish to rule out Cheryl Cole who has dominated the list since becoming a judge on X-Factor, but Rihanna and Katy Perry do offer a more edgy alternative to her Geordie girl next door image which has seen her attract a massive male following.
Punters looking for a bit of value in the market might want to take a closer look at Nicole Sherzinger who herself appeared as a guest judge on the X-Factor last year and she recently hit the top of the charts with her solo career. Sherzinger is of course a former member of the Pussycat Dolls and is the girlfriend of Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton which ensures she is always in the public eye in the UK, which could be key and her price of 6/1 could prove to be the value here. It is hard to look past Rihanna here though and we take here to be crowned the Worlds Sexiest Women by FHM and top off what has been memorable year for her.
FHM World Sexiest Women Odds with Paddy Power
- 15/8 – Rihanna
- 15/8 – Katy Perry
- 9/4 – Cheryl Cole
- 5/1 – Frankie Sandford
- 5/1 – Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley
- 6/1 – Nicole Sherzinger
- 10/1 – Megan Fox
- 20/1 – Gemma Arterton
- 20/1 – Una Healy
- 25/1 – Abbey Clancy

Paul Nicholls is 9/2 To Train His First Aintree Grand National Winner
March 29, 2011
Paul Nicholls has done just about everything in the world of Horse Racing training apart from one thing, and that is that he is still yet to train a winner of the Aintree Grand National. Nicholls has dominated the world of National Hunt over the past few years but it has been the Cheltenham Festival where most of his success has come, that could be about to change though with Nicholls set to be mob-handed at Antree this season with two genuine contenders according to the Grand National Betting.
Bookmakers Bet365 believe that Nicholls could be about to end that drought as they are offering skinny looking odds of 9/2 about him training the winner, he is set to have four runners in the race with What A Friend and Niche Market the two main contenders from Ditcheat. What A Friend ran a blinder last time out when 4th in the Gold Cup and based on that performance he is well in at the weights and looks to be the class of the field at this stage, the horse is part-owned by Sir Alex Ferguson and at this stage can be backed at 11/1 to win the Grand National.
Niche Market likewise looks a major contender for Paul Nicholls in the National this year and he has the profile to run a massive race, he is a former Irish Grand National and punters can back him at 14/1 with Bet365 to win the race on his second attempt. Nicholls will be expecting those two to form the strength of his team while The Tother One and Ornais are more likely to have each-way claims for the Champion Trainer meaning that punters wanting to back Nicholls will be hoping either What A Friend or Niche Market can be successful.
Grand National Betting Odds 2011
- 8/1 – The Midnight Club

Danny Welbeck 6/1 to score first on England debut
March 29, 2011
Danny Welbeck has been called up to the England squad to face Ghana in place of the injured Aaron Lennon, and the striker will be gunning to score for the three lions should Fabio Capello offer him a chance to shine. Stan James are offering tempting odds of 6/1 for the Manchester United player, who is currently on loan at Sunderland, to net first in England’s international friendly against Ghana tonight. The young striker is brimming with confidence having scored for the England Under-21s last Thursday in their 4-0 demolition of Denmark.
Capello is expected to make numerous changes to the side that effortlessly defeated Wales at the weekend, with big name players such as Wayne Rooney, Ashley Cole, John Terry and Frank Lampard all returning to their clubs. Yesterday Capello confirmed that the Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry will be captaining the side having let John Terry return to Chelsea.
Welbeck has been in fine form for the Black Cats this season, forming a decent partnership with the Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan. Welbeck’s old Sunderland team mate Darren Bent – fresh from his goal against Wales – is amonsgt the favourites to score the first goal of the game at 5/1 with Stan James, with Liverpool’s £35m man Andy Carroll also priced at 5/1 to score first.
For those of you wanting to back England’s second team to win tonight at Wembley can do so at odds of 8/11 with Stan James. A draw is available at 13/5, whilst Ghana are 4/1 to become the first African side to win on English soil. The match is live on ITV at 8pm.

March 28, 2011
All attention in the world of golf is now turning towards Augusta with the US Masters now just around the corner, the first major of the year is always one of the most popular and this year is no different with some great betting opportunities on offer for punters. Stan James are the first out of the blocks and they are offering a fantastic money back special in free bets for all losing bets should either Tiger Woods or Phil Mickelson pick up another Green Jacket. Gareth Barry favourite to captain England against Ghana
March 28, 2011
Fabio Capello is expected to name a much changed squad for England’s friendly with Ghana tomorrow, allowing fringe players the opportunity to impress. With Frank Lampard, John Terry, Ashley Cole and Wayne Rooney all due to be rested, the captain’s armband is up for grabs. Skybet have installed the Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry as the favourite to skipper the three lions at 2/5. In February Barry briefly captained England for the last ten minutes in a friendly against Denmark.
West Ham midfielder Scott Parker impressed in his holding role in England’s 2-0 against Wales last Saturday, and is available at odds of 4/1 to captain the national side against Ghana. Glen Johnson, Joleon Lescott and Joe Hart are also in the running, with the Arsenal youngster Jack Wilshere an outsider at 10/1.
England are 4/7 to win, whilst Ghana are 9/2 to pull off a surprise victory, with a draw 9/2. The Black Cats will bid to become the first ever African side to win on English soil and will be full of confidence after their 3-0 win against Congo last weekend. The win put them top of their African Cup of Nations qualifying group.

Wladimir Klitschko early favourite for summer showdown
March 25, 2011
The fight the boxing world craves is due to happen on Saturday 25th June. The WBA Heavyweight Champion David Haye will take on the IBF and WBO Champion Wladimir Klitschko in one of the most anticipated heavyweight bouts in recent history.
The credibility of the heavyweight division has rapidly declined since the days of Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson, with Haye’s almost comical third-round win against Audley Harrison last November and Vitali Klitschko’s recent first-round win over the Cuban Odlanier Solis reflecting the lack of competitiveness in the division. The unification contest between Haye and the younger Klitschko will hopefully restore some pride and generate some much needed excitement in the badly bruised heavyweight division.
At the time of writing Skybet have Klitschko as the slight favourite with odds of 4/7, whilst Haye is 11/8 to win and a draw 28/1. Both fighters have vowed to knock the other out with Klitschko again edging it at 4/1, with David Haye 6/1. Over the past two years Haye and the Klitschko brothers have been engaged in numerous verbal spars with nothing ever materialising. Providing Wladimir can recover from a stomach injury the fight will go ahead. Should he not then his older brother Vitali will most probably step in.
Wladimir Klitschko v David Haye Specials with Skybet
- 18/1 – David Haye wins in opening 60 seconds.
- 40/1 – Wladimir Klitschko wins in opening 60 seconds.
- 9/2 – Both fighters knocked down.

McLaren boost chances for Australian glory
March 25, 2011
The first Grand Prix of the new season gets underway this Sunday morning live on BBC from 6am, and Victor Chandler are offering some fantastic race specials.
In today’s practice the McLaren duo of Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button surprised everyone by posting the two fastest times. Despite their very public grunts of dissaproval with the McLaren car in the build-up to this Sunday the two Brits will have few complaints following today’s session. Victor Chandler are offering Hamilton at 8/1 and Button at 10/1 to win in Australia. The two drivers are available at odds of 6/4 (Hamilton) and 9/4 (Button) for a podium finish and Britain can also be backed as the winning nationality at 9/2.
The 2010 Drivers Championship winner Sebastian Vettel is the favourite with Victor Chandler for the Australian Grand Prix at 15/8 and is also available at 11/10 to start in pole position. Red Bull enjoyed a hugely successful 2010 season where they won the Constructors Championship by 44 points. They will no doubt want to continue their impressive form into the new season and you can back a Red Bull car to finish first in Melbourne at odds of 4/5. Fernando Alonso is well known for his fiery competitive spirit and risky manouvers on the race track and Victor Chandler have him at 7/2 to post the fastest lap this Sunday.
Mark Webber will be determined to make 2011 his year after crumbling at the end of last year’s campaign, whilst Felipe Massa will be looking to rediscover the form that saw him finish second in the Drivers Championship in 2008. After a dissapointing comeback last season where he finished ninth overall, Michael Schumacher will also be hoping for a vastly improved 2011.
