September 23, 2009

South Africa ICC Champions Trophy betting odds

September 21, 2009

The ICC Champions Trophy returns this week after a 3 year break with 8 of the worlds best cricketing teams. The tour was postponed by a year and the venue moved from Pakistan to South Africa following concerns over security and safety of the teams and fans. The organisers of the event will be hoping to carry on the momentum created by the World Twenty20 campaign.

Australia are the current holders having won in Mumbai in 2006 and their recent decimation of England in the NatWest series shows what excellent form they are currently in. England however are struggling with injuries (Andrew Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen) they do however have Adil Rashid and Joe Denly who looked on good form in the Twenty20 matches.  However it is the host South Africa who have the best odds of 5/2 before the tournament begins.

If either England or New Zealand who are currently very outside bets end up winning the ICC Championship Trophy the bookmaker Boylesports are running a cash back offer and will refund all losing outright bets that are made on the match.

ICC Champions Trophy Outright Odds

  • 5/2 – South Africa
  • 7/2 – Australia
  • 4/1 – India
  • 6/1 – Sri Lanka
  • 7/1 – Pakistan
  • 14/1 – New Zealand
  • 18/1 – England
  • 20/1 – West Indies

How long will it be before we see the presenters on Loose Women telling us about Imac and the latest Lillets towels or when the Rovers will ditch its traditional Newton and Riddley ale and pull Jack Duckworth a pitcher full of Stella. However the sure fire bet is on Simon Cowell being the first to use Coke on the X Factor something he has already done on American Idol where the rules have allowed this for some time.

First ITV Show to use product placement

  • 6/4 – X Factor
  • 3/1 – Coronation Street
  • 5/1 – Loose Women
  • 5/1 – Champions League Football
  • 8/1 – Emmerdale
  • 12/1 – This Morning
  • 25/1 - News At Ten
  • 33/1 – The Jeremy Kyle Show

Product to be advertised

  • 6/4 – Coca Cola
  • 5/1 – Pepsi
  • 6/1 – Stella Artois
  • 6/1 – Carlsberg
  • 6/1 – Kronenburg
  • 8/1 - Nike

Europa League betting begins with high hopes for English sides

September 17, 2009

Its been a busy week for European football for English sides with action in the Champions League on Tuesday and Wednesday and tonight its the turn of the new Europa Cup, it may have a new name but the competition is old as it replaces the UEFA Cup (Shakhtar Donetsk are the current champions) which has had its detractors over the years.

There are three English teams are in tonight’s fixture list, for them its a chance of European exposure and if they progress pass the group stages there may even be a glimmer of some silverware in the trophy cabinet this season and for Fulham and Everton it could be their only chance unless they get some wealthy backers so they can step up and take on the big boys of Manchester United and Chelsea in the Premier League.
