Odds on the BNP winning a seat at the next general election

September 30, 2009

The British National Party (BNP) who were once considered one of the fringe political parties have in recent years thanks to increased immigration figures inward to the United Kingdom coupled with high unemployment and the general downturn in the nations economy they have started to become a voice once again.

During the recent European elections in 2009 they managed to win 2 seats, Andrew Brons was elected in the Yorkshire and the Humber regional constituency with 9.8% of the vote and party leader Nick Griffin was elected for the North West region, with 8 percent of the vote, the BNP also won its first three county Councilor seats in Lancashire, Leicestershire, and Hertfordshire.

Egg Attack

and for balance heres what happended to Lord Mandelson.

BNP to win a seat at next Election

The BNP will receive further credibility in October when their chairman will appear on the panel for the BBC political programme Question Time, this has courted controversy in that many people believe that the extreme right wing views of the BNP should not be granted a voice in this modern age while others believe that they will end up shooting themselves in the foot!

English Sides Appeal in Champions League Accumulator

September 28, 2009

With the English ‘Big Four’ all getting off to a winning start in the first round of Champions League matches in the Group stage of the 2009/10 competition, punters looking to bet on this week’s matches could do worse than back the same four teams again this week to maintain their 100% recrods. All four look to have winnable games and at combined odds of around 10/3 makes plenty of appeal.

Arsenal look to have the easiest task of the four as they welcome Greek champions, Olympiakos to The Emirates and at odds of  1/4 should not have any repeat of the opening game scare when falling 2-0 behind away at Standard Liege.

On Wednesday night, both Chelsea and man Utd shoudl also have no problems in justifying their short odds in order to make it two wins out of two on the road to Madrid next May. Chelsea play Cypriot Champions, Apoel Nicosia and Carlo Ancelotti’s men should have no problem securing three points on the Mediterranean Island. Whilst Man United open up their account at Old Trafford with the visit of  Wolfsburg. The Germans are sure to prove a challenge to last season’s Champions League finalists but it would be a major shock if United did get anything other than three points from this fixture.

Liverpool face the toughest game of the English sides this week when they travel to Florence in Italy to take on Fiorentina. Liverpool are even money with Victor Chandler to get the win but the Italians are sure to prove no push over. However, Liverpool’s Champions League pedigree under Rafa Benitez cannot be questioned and with the Reds hitting form in the League this game looks likely to go the way of the visitors.

A £20 accumulator on Man Utd, Arsena, Liverpool and Chelsea all to win in the Champions League this week returns £85.71 with Victor Chandler.

However what most commentators will be talking about will the return to the scene of the crime at Marina Bay as this is the location that Renault have just recieved their 2 year suspeneded ban for race fixing in what has been called “Crash Gate” following Nelson Piquet Jr’s revelations that he had been told to deliberately crashing in  Singapore last year to help team-mate Fernando Alonso win the race.

Rip Van Winkle Odds on favourite to land Ascot’s Queen Elizabeth Stakes

September 24, 2009

Rip Van Winkle is a best price 5/6 to win the Group One Queen Elizabeth II stakes at Ascot on Saturday (26th September). The Aidan O’Brien trained Colt will remain at a mile following his impressive win in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood last time out.

When the declarations were made on Thursday afternoon, it came as a surprise to many that O’Brien had also entered another one of his stable’s leading three year old’s in the form of Mastercraftsman. Whether Mastercraftsman will run in the race remains to be seen but having beaten second for favourite for the QEII, Delegator, in the St Jame’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot in June if he does take his place O’Brien stands an excellent chance of landing the first two home. Available at a massive 7/1 with Bet365 to win this race (priced on the fact it’s currently antepost rules) Mastercraftsman looks a good bet if you think he will get the run.

As with Rip Van Winkle, there is no doubt that the Godolphin trained Delegator will comepte for £141,000 first prize at Ascot but despite the undoubteded ability to run in Group One company, it remains to be seen whether he has the class required to win at this level and the 11/4 looks about right that the Guineas runner up will land his first Group One at the third time of asking.

Queen Elizabeth II Stakes
Rip Van Winkle 5/6
Delegator 11/4
Mastercraftsman 7/1
Aqlaam 7/1
Zacinto 22/1
