Chelsea last won the FA Cup in 2007 under Jose Mourinho but four managers later, they have not won anything since. Current manager Guus Hiddink is set to step down after this game and after being in contention for the Premier and Champions League just a month ago, the Dutchman and Chelsea fans alike will be desperate to finish the season on a high.

Everton will be equally as desperate to finish the season on a high and after being crowned Premier League manager of the season, David Moyes will be hoping that he can secure his first major honour as Everton boss.

Fa Cup Final Odds (90 Minutes)
Chelsea – 8/11

The two league meetings between the sides this season both finished 0-0 and whilst neutrals will be hoping for a more entertaining game at Wembley, there is every chance that this is going to be another close game and a third consecutive goalless draw is priced at 7/1. That would result in a likely penalty shootout, for which, Everton are priced at 10/1 and Chelsea 8/1 to lift the cup as a reuslt of winning after spot kicks.

Man Utd v Barcelona Odds Suggest a Close Encounter is on the cards

May 26, 2009

The bookmakers odds for Wednesday night’s Champions League final between Man Utd and Barcelona suggest that opinion is spilt on which of these two Footballing Giants will be crowned Champions of Europe. The majority of bookies are offering odds of 10/11 about either side lifting the Champions League trophy at the end of the game in Rome, whether that is after 90 minutes, extra time, or for the second year running, a penalty shoot out!  Firms offering 10/11 each of two include Bet365, Paddypower, Boylesports and Stan James, however, Freebetsblog has done its research and found the best odds about both Manchester United and Barcelona winning.  Blue Square are offering the best price anywhere on Barcelona becoming champions at even money and Coral are offering the exact same price (evens) about Man Utd regaining the trophy for a second year, this too is the best price anywhere.

The game itself is a real mouth watering prospect with what are undoubtedly the current two best teams in the World going head to head in one of football’s most famous venues, the Stadio Olimpico, Rome; the perfect stage for a match that has the potential to be a classic.  Both sides are packed with talent and all eyes will be on Ronaldo and Messi, the current number one two players in World football and either of them could be the difference in winning this game. However, with the likes of Rooney, Eto’o, Henry and Tevez amongst others involved, this game really is a star studded affair and very much capable of living up to its billing in the media as the ‘Hollywood Final’.

If you are looking for a tip for this game, it would have to be Manchester United to win at even money with Coral. The Reds are well experienced in these big games and last year’s victory over Chelsea in Moscow could well prove crucial if it turns out to be a close affair. We also feel that whilst both sides are packed with attacking players, it is United who have the better of the two defences and this is what could ultimately keep the Champions League trophy in the Old Trafford trophy cabinet. Also, don’t  be surprised to see this game go to penalties and 12/1  (Stan James) about Man Utd winnnig in a shoot out looks a cracking bet.

Next House of Commons Permanent Speaker Odds

May 22, 2009

It’s been a sorry month in the world of politics following the breaking of the expenses scam by the Daily Telegraph;  it has led to Members of Parliament resigning and public opinion of the UK Government bordering on that of what the French thought of the Aristocracy in the 1700′s.

Better Pick A Pocket or 2

MPs and have been claiming for £2500 worth of TVs, claiming for mortgages they have already paid off and even repair work on their moats, whilst we worry about the post it notes we borrowed out of the stationary cupboard and that laptop that’s forgotten to go back to the office!

The latest casualty is the Speak of the House of Commons Mr Michael Martin who has resigned his position, Paddy Power have started a book on who will be his replacement.   Our opinion is it needs to be someone all parties trust like Vince Cable or another MP that has claimed no expenses former actress Glenda Jackson.

2009 French Open Outright odds from Boylesports

May 22, 2009

The French Open (Tournoi de Roland-Garros) takes place at the famous Roland Garros stadium in Paris starting with the qualifiers from 24th May right through to the finals on 7th June 2009.  The tournament is the 2nd of the Grand Slam tournaments of the tennis year and is the most prestigious clay court tennis event in the world.

The tournament has become a grudge match between Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer who have gone head to head in the final of this tournament in 2006, 2007 and 2008 with the Spaniard Rafael Nadal winning all 3 matches and has won the tournament 4 times in total in his career having beat Mariano Puerta in the 2005 tournament.

We would like to think that this years tournament would be different and maybe someone can beat Nadal in the final, maybe even the English hopeful Andy Murray (currently at odds of 16/1) can do it and get past last years poor performance where he was out in the 3rd round as he has spent much of 2008 concentrating on improving his clay court performance.

French Open 2009 Outright Betting

  • 1/3 – Rafael Nadal
  • 11/2 – Roger Federer
  • 13/2 – Novak Djokovic
  • 16/1 – Andrew Murray
  • 25/1 – Fernando Verdasco
  • 33/1 – Juan Martin Del Potro
  • 50/1 – Nikolay Davydenko
  • 150/1 – Giles Simon
