————————————————————————————————-
The first legs of the Champions League Semi Finals take place this week and with three of the last four from England there is sure to be plenty of interest in the betting odds on both games. The first game is on Tuesday night when Chelsea travel to the Nou Camp to take on favourites to win this season’s Champions League, Barcelona.
It is Barcelona who bookmakers make the 8/13 favourites to reach the final in Rome at the end of May, but if they are to do that, they will surely have to make home advantage count on Tuesday and that won’t be an easy assignment against a Chelsea side that has lost just one game since Guus Hiddink took charge at Stamford Bridge in February.
Barcelona are best odds of 8/11 (with Paddy Power) to win on Tuesday with the away win 4/1 but it could be the draw at 5/2 that makes the most appeal to punters, a result that would be suit Chelsea far more than it would their Spanish opponents. An away goal would be a bonus for the Blues and with goalscoring threats across the pitch, including, Drogba, Anelka, Lampard and even defenders Ivanovich and Alex capable of netting, a 1-1 draw at 6/1 is certainly worth a second look. However, Barcelona themselves are not without talent capable of scoring and any team with the likes of Lionel Messi, Samuel Eto’o and Thierry Henry pose a major threat and a 2-1 home win at 13/2 with Paddypower makes appeal, a result that would still keep Chelsea in with a chance of progressing in the return leg at Stamford Bridge.

Will there be a goal fest when Spurs go to Old Trafford?
April 24, 2009
Manchester United have to win this weekend in their match against mid table Tottenham Hotspur to ensure they move away from Liverpool (who have an almost guaranteed 3 points from their Saturday tie with struggling Hull City). United are 3 points clear of Liverpool and with a game in hand a win this weekend will see Liverpool’s title hopes seem near impossible.
What can be expected between Manchester United and Spurs is a flurry of goals but which way they will go is anyone’s guess when these two teams meet each other. Paddy Power have a great cash back betting offer and will give punters their stake money back on all first and last goal scorers, correct score and scorecast singles if there are five or more goals scored.
Favourites to win this tie at Old Trafford is off course the current Premiership leaders United who are being offered odds of 2/5 for a home win and 10/3 for the draw, a win for Spurs is attracting odds of 15/2 and could be worth a flutter as anything goes when there are so few games left in a season.
